Every once and a while when I open up a dwg, autocad will load with what looks like two viewports in my model space tab. The bottom viewport is not clickable and the top viewport is very thin and is the one I am able to move around in. I would like to get this to stop.

I am having problems opening an idw created in the 2013 version on my inventor professional 2014.
The idw contains its own template, views, dimensions, details and cuts.
Upon opening in 2014 to release details of the scale is changed randomly and the views are out of the leaf.
I am trying to learn Annotative text using multiple viewports. My question: I have text in Model space with Annotative scales to match two different viewports in layout space. Sometimes the text or dimensions for that matter appears in a different place in the two windows. What gives?

I would like to know if there is anyway for my customer once my job is done to be able to load the Sub assembly with his software and be able to work with it ?
They told me Inventor fusion is not an easy tool and would prefered to use inventor files.
I have a lot of sheet DWGs with a single layout in each. The layouts have several viewports into model space.
Is there a way to export out the layout tab where the viewport contents have been converted and placed into the layout space?
Ideally, I'm hoping to basically convert the viewport heavy paperspace into a dumb model space layout.
I have used annotative text and selected yes for match orientation to layout for the text. In the viewport it is rotating automatically with the view, however the boxes around the text do not rotate as well. Is there anyway to automate this?
The Client requires a key plan which has all the pipe data on it. The key plan is oriented in one direction. Then for the plan & profile drawings, the plan is oriented in another direction. I don't want to have two create two sets of text (one for the key plan and one for the plan/profile drawing). How can I use one set of text and make it work in the key plan and for all the plan/profile drawings? Image is attached.
I have one layout. On that layout I want to have 2 viewports. I also have ssay block A and block B I want to insert.I would like Viewport1 to display block A and viewport 2 to display block B.
What happens to me is when I created Viewport 1 and inserted block A. I go on to create viewport 2. But viewport 2 displays only block A, which I cannon delete to insert block B.
I wrote a program to separate drawings with multiple layouts into several drawings. The problem I'm running into is even though there is only one viewport in the layout.the program is finding two. One has the right viewcenter, width and height the other is wrong.

However that panning is limited to the active viewport, 1 at a time by double clicking in the viewport. Is there a way to apply -pan to a number of viewports, say I want to move all the model space irrespective of scale 300 mm to the west or 100 mm to the north in more than 1 viewport.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am working on AutoCAD 2013LT and I tried to use multiple viewports in model space which is a new thing to AutoCAD (i think). Anyway I wasn't using it on the last version.
Under View Tab when I go to choose different Viewport configurations sometimes some of the views change to isometric view. I don't know how to change it back to 2d view.
They mension something about viewport control lables which should be in top left corner, but I don't see those in my viweports.
Autocad LT 2014 works fine when one dwg is open, but after opening a second dwg autocad becomes 'selectively sluggish'. By 'sluggish' I mean panning and zooming are choppy, and switching between paperspace layouts is painfully slow. By 'selective' I mean that the program is slow only when working on the second drawing; I can toggle over to the first dwg that was opened and normal functionality resumes. These are not big files, there are not underlays or xrefs or crazy hatches/dynamic blocks/etc. It happens when working locally or off of the file server.
The only way I can have two drawings open and work normally is to open two instances of Autocad LT 2014 and have a drawing open in each -- then, I can switch back and forth as usual, with normal speeds.
Is there a way to copy a viewport with all its layers setup from one drawing file to another drawing file?
I can copy the viewport and activate it, but the layers setup for that viewport goes to default. So it turns everything on.
I can't make a layer state in the old file and import in new file, because the new file does not have all the same layers. So not all my layers would be turned off in the viewport.
I am creating plan sheets and using the sheet creation tool. The plan sheets I am looking to make have stacked view, similar to a plan and profile sheet, only they have the horizontal alignment in both views.
I have a template set up with two viewports, but when I try to create the sheets it puts the same view frame in both of the viewports. Is there any way to set this template up so that I can have, lets say, STA 100+00 - 110+00 in the top viewport and then STA 110+00 - 120+00 in the bottom viewport. I understand that I can move the viewports once they are created, but I would rather have that done automatically. I am not sure if what I want done is possible with Civil 3D.
I am currently working on a .DWG in Civil3D which has 12 viewports. This particular .DWG causes my computer to lag quite a bit. I was wondering if there was a way of combining viewports in paper space (i.e. taking areas from multiple viewports and displaying them in one viewport), or if I am stuck with the individual viewports? I am just looking to speed up the process, it takes a long time to load the .DWG and work within it, the problem happens to others as well.

(I've tried deleting viewports, and that does speed up the process, but again, I need to keep all sites intact).

I have two viewports, one that is not rotated at 1:50 scale, the other rotated at 1:20 scale, and using associative dimensioning, therefore viewing the same model object with two associative scales. The rotated viewport is showing the dimenions upsidedown since it is rotated more than 180deg. If I modify the dimension properties to Left to Right instead of Right to Left, it rotates my other unmodified viewport. The only way right now to have the dimensions showing properly, is to print the first pages with the unmodified viewports, then modify the dimension properties, and then print the rotated viewport pages.
View 0 Replies View RelatedIf I have UPSFOLLOW set to '1' when using multiple viewports in the workspace when I click from one viewport to another it refreshes the viewport that I'm leaving with the setting of the viewport I select. If I set UPSFOLLOW to '0' it doesn't happen. Is there a way of stopping this happening without having to keep changing the UPSFOLLOW setting i.e. have UPSFOLLOW set to '1' and the viewports not change when swapping them?

With the 2014 version of inventor the program immediately crashes when attempting to open an autocad dwg. Inventor dwg files open fine. We never experienced this issue in our previous release. We only use the dwg format and because the preview is not always available it often happens that we open an autocad dwg in inventor and vice versa. Crash is reproduced on multiple maches.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been migrating dozens and dozens of .pat files from one version of AutoCAD to the next for many, many versions. Most recently in AutoCAD 2013 the .pat files were stored in the C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2013SupportPatterns - worked fine. During the migration to 2014 I received an install error report stating that this subdirectory did not exist and could not be created. Alternately it stated that the new default path C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupport will be used instead.
At first I created the Patterns subdirectory where it could not be done automatically. No luck. Then I placed the Patterns subdirectory in C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupportPatterns and no luck.
Yesterday inventor worked fine, I made 3 new parts.But today when I wanted to put these parts together in an assembly and I try opening a new file, inventor crashes?
I still can open projects, but can't create a new project.
PS. I'm using Inventor 2014 Student Version with service pack 1 on Windows 8.1
I'm having an issue with my cad files that were done with Civil 3D 2012. When we made the jump to Civil 3D 2014 all my drawings seem to be corrupt. Now I have pipe networks in my base file. I have tired recovering and recoverall but no luck. I can send the CAD file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having an odd issue with the windows default for opening files for Inventor. I previously had the full Autodesk 2013 software suite. A couple of months ago I did the upgrade and installed the Autodesk 2014 software suite.
My issue is now when attempting to open files the default is to open them in Inventor 2013 (still installed on my machine).
I went through the windows default programs options and browsed/selected the Inventor 2014 .exe application. However, this does not add the 2014 application to the list as it seems 2013 over rides it.
I tried to manually changing .ipt/.iam/.stp etc. file types from Inventor 2013 to Inventor 2014, yet am still unable to have the 2014 application added to the potential list of default programs to open with.
One solution would appear to be to un-install the 2013 suite, is there any other way to fix this problem? It is nothing crucial, yet very annoying.
another way that I can get the default program altered to use Inventor 2014? I have attached pictures showing my steps of attemping to change the file association for a .stp file. However, this does not work. I even brought this issue to my company's IT perssonnel and they were unsure.
I have a coworker who opens an Inventor 2014 (Inventor .dwg) drawing in AutoCAD Mech 2014 and only the views show. No annotations, titleblock, or border. If I open the same drawing in my AutoCAD Mech 2014, the drawing appears correct. Both have service pack 1 applied to Inventor and AutoCAD 2014...
View 7 Replies View RelatedHappens every year. Upgrade and spend half a day or more trying to get everything back to the way I had it. All I have is a couple small toolbars for commands that are several clicks deep in the ribbons and I want them "right there" all the time.
I thought Autodesk 360 might be a good tool for this. All it did was DOWNLOAD some old settings and destroy one of the toolbars I'd created. They really need an override in there to specify upload, download, overwrite or don't.
I'm trying to migrate (I guess that's the technical term) my settings from 2013 Mechanical to 2014 Mechanical. It's probably too late already, after 360 did its deal, but I really want to get this down so we don't go through it every year anymore.
I maintain that PTC had this part of it down Pro/ENGINEER. You had a config file that was editable plain text.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running the new auto cad civil 3d 2014, downloaded from the design suite premium. I have left all of the programs installed (as a I saw that a few people chose to uninstall several of the programs). I am running auto cad on an @xi workstation, 4.1ghz processor, 16gb corsair vengence heatspred ram, 240gb ssd operating drive, 2tb storage raid 0 configuration storage drives, NVIDIA K2000 graphics card. It took me a while to configure the graphics settings within auto cad due to the high resolution, text is being portayed as small in some cases, commands are huge in others.
I am still adjusting all of those, however my real problem is that when I open certain drawings the program immediatly goes to not responding, and when I am working back and forth and trying to open multiple drawings it does the same. Just opening the program off of my desktop on a cold-start up takes maybe 15 seconds to be fully functional, the same with certain drawings. However others just seem to not want to be opened. This occurs with drawings large and small. Some large drawings open perfectly while some small ones crash, and vice versa. What could be the cause of this?
I used pdf attach to insert a pdf into the drawing. I have a plan drawing with viewports that references the drawing file. I tried to turn off the layer in one viewport while leaving the layer turned on in another viewport but i could not get it to plot correctly. It's off in my drawing but when i go to plot its on in all viewports. What is the reason that this happens? my plan file is too large i may have to post it seppartly
View 7 Replies View Relatedwhen it comes to viewports in paperspace in 2013, due to the nature of my work i have several layout drawings all drawn on top of each other and all with ther own txt and dims etc, which again is all on top of each other making it impossible to work in model space, for this reason i work in paperspace within a viewport but now i have upgraded to 2013 while i am in mid command e.g. dimension and zoom into first point then zoom back out and in again to second point, by this time i have been kicked out of the viewport and just in paperspace so cant complete the command, doesnt always happen?
