Oct 14, 2013If I modify a 3D solid and it is left with two seperate pieces it is still one solid piece, even though there are two parts. My question is: What if only need one of those two sides? If I explode the object and delete the one side I cannot change the remaining object into a 3D solid. It remains as surface object.
How can make an object into a 3D solid after exploding it? I belive there is a simple command like union or some other but I can't remember.

AutoCAD 2013 :: How To Make Collection Of Surfaces Into Single Solid Object
May 5, 2013I'm working on a project, and I need to make this collection of surfaces into a single solid object. I tried using sculpt, and after a few hours of trying to find the leak, I have failed. not watertight.
Also, I need to get this thing to a cnc mill, and they keep asking me for 2d drawings, dimensions, and tolerances. I assumed the 3d file would be good enough. How to make a file ready for a cnc, and how to make 2d drawings without putting 600 measurements all over the image? Every time I try to do a 2d object, the whole thing is a mess.

I am doing this by using the 3D poly command and then LOFT, UNION and CONVTOSOLID. this has previously worked well, but this time when I use the LOFT command it does not produce a 'closed' surface, but rather a grid like surface which wont convert to a solid. Are there different settings for the LOFT command, and if so, How do I change them to produce a closed surface?

I have already created a title block that uses text fields to display custom properties of the file on my title block, such as the job no., drawing no. etc.
I have searched the web for answers, came across this site, joined and searched through it... There are a number of threads that 'sorta' deal with my needs but alway tend to digress more towards the "poster's" needs and away from mine. I noticed that they all talk about Lisp Routines and I have no knowledge of using them. Is that the only way to go or can I use another route? Another one was the Sheet Set Manager but I don't think that this is exactly what I am looking for...

For this reason i put invisible command to other 3 solids in the part file . but in the drawing, i still see all the seven parts.

Oct 10, 2013I am importing solidworks assembly files into AutoCAD 2014. They show up fine after importing them. It says the assembly is in inches but when i go into the individual parts blocks they are all 25.4 scale. Is there a way to not have all the parts scaled up when it is imported?

Attached is the Untitle.jpg, to make more clearer to you. Blue is the wall and skyblue is the aquarium. I want the back and the front of the aquarium don't have any line in the middle but even I do shade command the fill of the color is still there. Jun 8, 2012so im drawing a 3d object in an isometric view. it is a 3d extruded object. essentially it is an extruded decagonal tube. i have, at the bottom, a line marking the center of the decagon so i can snap to it, draw a decagon for the base, and extrude it. problem is, i go to draw the decagon (or anything, for that matter), and i cant snap to the inside of the solid. autocad will only let me select the face of the object. is this a setting i can uncheck, or do i have to change the way i am drawing this?

Aug 12, 2013I have finally created the shell of the complex surface that you see. This is only a section of the part because I cannot show the whole thing for proprietary reasons. I formed solid surfaces using the network command. The propblem is that it will not convert to a solid because the surface seams are not "water tight." When the network command created the solid surfaces, the surface seams do not exactly match the lines so there are gaps in all the seams. I have tried blending, patching, etc. and nothing works. how to convert this to a solid without losing the outlines and the shape?

Jan 12, 2013I'm experiencing problems with selecting objects. Usually, when I double clicked multi line text, I could edit it, now I get a text: "select an MTEXT object:", which basically means I have to select it again.
Another example of this is quick selection tool. Usually I selected the objects, then went to quick select pop up screen and under "Apply to:" I selected "Current selection". Now, there's only "Entire drawing" option and if i want current selection, I have to re-select it again.
I checked all the selection options and stuff. I attached some screenshots.

Jan 16, 2013When I set a layer as current, every object or line I select in the drawing appear to be on that layer in the toolbar. Although in the properties toolbox, I see that the line I selected is still on the right layer.
I can't work in paperspace either, when I freeze a layer it freezes all objects. It seems like whenever I give a different layer to an object, it attributes to all object that same layer.
When I open the same drawing in acad 2008, everything is ok, the objects have the proper layers.
Is there a command for that or it's an acad 2013 problem?
AutoCAD 2013 :: Hatching Looking Solid But Its Not A Solid Pattern
Dec 13, 2012i am having a hatching issue, it seems no matter what hatch pattern i use and what hatch scale, alot of the hatch looks solid instead of the pattern i want, for example i am using currently ANSI37 @ Annotative with a scale of .20 and on the same paperspace page one plan with the hatch shows the cross hatching and the other one below looks solid (see attached) now i can go and say change the hatch scale and it reverts to the cross hatching, but then when i zoom out it goes back to "solid" is it a graphical issue?

Newer AEC objects will be disallowed from participating in this operation”. And I cannot paste the object copied from other file. This happened to me when I work with Autocad2010 using drawings saved as Autocad2004 in Autocad2013.

Mar 21, 2013when i bind the xref's the file size is increasing up to 50mb. the size of the file before binding is 4.5mb. i tried all the options whic ppl given in the discussion here. purged(all regeapps,zero txts etc.),wblock even some lisps. but all in vain. even i tried to audit but it took 2hrs and nothing happened. this dwg containing only lines poly lines, blocks, txts etc. no images and not even dence hatches also. 1500 drawings like this. i have to submit the softcopy soon.
