Is it possible to attache a PCG file created with ACAD 2013 in ACAD 2012? I ask because I keep getting the message "the point cloud data file is not valid!". I have tried using both x86 and x64 and get the same error. I have also tried with ACAD 2011 and get the same error. The file was created from a Leica PTS file.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI work with a national company that creates criteria drawings for new projects. They recently changed to the 2012 version but they save it down to 2007. There has not been an issue with opening files with my 2009 version until recently. All of the computers in our office are unable to open these new files, although they claim nothing has changed. My CAD will pop up a fatal error and shut down whenever I attempt to open the new files. I downloaded the 2013 trial version and saved the file down to the older version, but that does not work either. Newer versions do not seem to be affected by the files, just my 2009 version. I tried creating a new file in 2013 and saved down to 2007 format. When I try to open it 2009 there is no issue. besides purchasing a new version of AutoCAD?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI created and replaced a dwt in 2013. tried opening it in 2012 and it crashes with a "fatal error: unhandled access violation writing 0xec307ff8 exception at ec307ff8h". I restored to whole folder with our dwts to before I created them. and still crashes with 2012. they open fine in 2013.

I've tried this on three different machines now, definitely seems to be a bug. We are creating these on the X drive or Autodesk 360, do n't know if it does with any file folder, but guessing it probably does since the sync is an external process.

why our copies of AutoCAD MEP 2012 seem to hang when loading the default dwt files? On the splash screen it details all the files being loaded and when it gets to the dwt file it just hangs at 0%. In the windows task manager, acad.exe stops using memory (around 90megs) and the cpu stops too. It's get's really frustrating, especially as it only seems to affect our new Dell Optiplex's and a couple of our old Dell Precisions. Some of them work first time every time, no probs. All PC's are Windows 7 Pro 64bit and running the latest service packs for AutoCAD.

On a file server, when a folder permission has been set to "deny delete" we cannot navigate to that folder in the open file dialog box.

I get as far as selecting the pdf, but then i wait, and wait, for the next dialog box to choose path, insertion point, page etc....it never appears and I have to cancel ....getting very behind with my work. I tried to turn off the layer in one viewport while leaving the layer turned on in another viewport but i could not get it to plot correctly. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an older drawing that was created by somebody else that is chock full of bad CAD. I have to add some leaders to some text and I'm using the "QLeader" command. For some odd reason when I implement "QLATTACH" it won't attach the leader to the text.
Yes, I could recreate the text with the Qleader command but I'm trying to avoid having to do that because there is a lot of text. I'm not a fan of the rigidness of Mleader either so that is not an option.

When attach image (tif) with no path. is saved, de image will be saved without a path. dir. Only when we change the image (with RasterCAD) when we now save the drawing the hole path dir. will be saved.
When we used AutoCAD 2006 this will not be the case. The tiff. will stay no path. We move/copy drawing with image to other dir. very often.

whenever I click to attach a drawing reference nothing happens. I don't get the browse to file window.
I've tried using the GUI from the View menu / Palettes panel/external palette, Also from the command prompt by typing external references and attach still no joy.
I have all SPs installed. I tried exporting another user's profile and importing it to my CAD. Do I have to reinstall the software from scratch?
I have an equipment list on excel 2013, that I can't insert into my AutoCad (2014) drawing. I've tried using paste special, paste link, using both as excel work book and as an autocad table. I have a wide variety of problems with both. Pasting as autocad table sometimes it wont update, when I try to update the link it locks up the drawing. When I paste as excel workbook it doesn't plot, although it show on plot preview. Is there a memory setting that has to be changed on autcad I have 12 gigs of memory on my computer.

Before, in PL command, 2D, I could point my marker at one snap point on a line for example, then I drag my marker to one direction towards where I want the Polyline to start. I write in an number (ex. 1000 mm) for the distance from the snap point, and ENTER it. The polyline starts now 1000 mm from the snap point I chose.
NOWADAYS it attaches in an RANDOM, and for me, inappropriate place on the current drawing when I ENTER the distance
Is it some settings I have to change to get this as it was in the 2012 version?
Is this supported by Autodesk, and will installing both products create any issues?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Base.dwg where I xref-Attach a Proposed.dwg file into. I changed the Color=gray and Plot Style=Existing of the Proposed xref in the Base. Visretain=1.
I now create a Sheet.dwg and xref Base into it (and Proposed comes along too). The settings for Proposed are not what I have set in the Base file, they are what's in the original Proposed file.
Can I get these settings to come through? I cannot go into the original Proposed file and change settings.

When I attach a titleblock as an xref in paperspace, it is not lined up on my page that I have set up. It attaches to the upper right hand corner of my screen and I have to manually move it on top of my paperspace. I know there is a way to have them automatically line up.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an assembly that was created on 64 bit version of Inventor 2013, the total file size of everything is around 150MB. Even if I use 'Pack and Go' to move the file to another computer running the 32 bit version I get an error when I try to open it which says something like:
'unable to allocate 3GB memory for FBAttributeSegment'
The actually figure is over 3GB but of course on a 32 bit version of windows it is physically impossible to allocate that amount of memory (even with the /3GB in boot.ini hack)
I've performed various dynamic simulations as well as animations within the assembly so I'm thinking that perhaps its trying to allocate that huge amount of memory for a saved state of one of those.
What FBAtributeSegment might be and whether there is any special way to save an assembly to avoid this problem? The name FBAttributeSegment doesn't correspond to any part or assembly names.
I should also add that I have no problem opening it in a 32 bit version of Fusion which again suggests to me that it is something like simulation or animation that is causing this
