View 5 RepliesWhenever I place a copy or paste from the clipboard AutoCAD freezes for about 5 -8 seconds and is very annoying. Time is money people. I know it's not a RAM issue. I don't have the problem with 2011 when I go back to it. What gives Autodesk? When is the next service pack due? This only happens with teh copy command
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy brand spanking new Acad2012 cannot copy anything to the windows clipboard...it freezes as soon as I hit enter after selecting the objects I want to copy. The only solution is to taskmanager and kill it.
I've had to go back to using my old AcadLT 2002 in my WindowsXP VM.
Basically my new Sing$2000 SW is useless unless I can copy blocks form one drawing to another.
I've applied this patch: [URL]
My view is freezing in Architecture 2012 and when I close out of my drawing and open it again, the problem is fixed. What am I doing to make it freeze? It seems like it does it the most if I am in isometric. Also, I am working in a project manager and there are no Xref's attached.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got AutoCad 2012. Commands like Mirror and Copy which involve duplication (no problem with Move or Rotate, for example) will cause AutoCad to not respond for a few minutes. I believe it only is an issue with files brought forward from AutoCad 2000.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy AutoCAD often will not copy & paste. It prompts for insertion point and when picked nothing appears. This happens on many different drawings. Windows 7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I copy and paste on Autocad 2012, it goes very slow.
I installed the service pack, I tried removing the layer filters and a few other fixes that are out there. The machine is powerful enough to handle the application.
I tried reinstalling the application and that didn't do anything. The DWG file that's on the network share is being used by other people without any issue, I'm the only one having this problem.
- Dell XPS 8300 running Windows 7 SP1 64-bit with 12 GB of RAM
- AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series with updated drivers installed
- AutoCAD 2012 64-bit SP1
- ACAD Hardware Acceleration is ON
This hotfix is already installed.
This particular file (and a few others) has an issue whereby the computer pauses for a LONG time whenever an XREF is placed OR a copy/paste system command is executed (not the COPY AutoCAD command, but Ctrl+C/V). I have audited and purged the file; there are no audit errors. I also tried recovering the file and it made no difference.
I checked one of the problemmatic files on my machine (different machine but still AutoCAD 2012 and Win7) and the same file has the same issues.
New files do NOT have this problem. I have attached the file. Steps to recreate the problem:
1. draw a simple rectangle
2. try to copy/paste it with ctrl+c/v
3. this other machine and my machine both pause for 8-10 seconds
I'm confident that it's something in the file, but I don't know how to track it down.
I am having PDS Ultimate 2012 and working on inventor. when i open a file or open a new template ribbon freezes means menu bar doesn't work properly,if i change the ribbon appearance it doesn't update also i cannot switch between the menu bar tabs and if i turn on the visibility of the datum planes it doesn't show on the screen. But when i refresh the windows everything works sometimes. i have installed SP1 and even repaired inventor.

I just started using Inventor and it is very slow, freezes for a few seconds, and is non responsive. My AutoCAD Architecture 2012 works just fine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSince last week (4-19-2012) Our users have been expierencing cursor issues and freezes with Civil 3d 2012. Entering commands in the command line very slugish, pressing the shift key to select / de-select, trim, open osnap menu, ext.
We are running Win7pro6d bit quad core machines with 6gb ram, ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL), Intel Xeon ES640 (2.67 ghz). AutoCAD Civil 3D(SP2) and all hotfixes installed.
This problem just started one week ago and It started with the cursor jumping all over the place when crossing objects. However; we now have very sluggish command line entry, 2 - 3 seconds after typing till it shows up, and cursors freezing when pressing the shift key for any reason.
Is this supported by Autodesk, and will installing both products create any issues?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought the Adobe CS5 master collection from a deal at my university. This error only started happening today, it was completely fine for the last few months up til yesterday, so it doesn't have anything to do with my specs probably.
Whenever I try to copy an image (ctrl + c), Photoshop would freeze. No error, no popup or anything, simply a freeze. The mouse cursor doesn't even turn into that loading icon, but nothing would be click able and any animations (like marquees) would stop.
Specs:
Adobe Photoshop Version: 12.1 (12.1x20110328 [20110328.r.145 2011/03/28:10:30:00 cutoff; r branch]) x64
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1
Intel i5
Also Photoshop CS5 has a lot of bugs when Flash CS5 is also open, causing a ton of crashes of either Flash or Photoshop. It's like these two programs don't like each other. I'm surprised this didn't go noticed during testing ?
i have various files which I cannot copy elements of into other drawings.
when i use the ctrol+copy command, I get the "copy to clipboard failed". This has only started since I upgraded to AutoCAD2012.
This is the first time I experience a major problem with Revit 2012. I created a duplicate of an 8" concrete masonry wall for my student project. Then I selected the Edit option in the Structure to change the rendered material to concrete masonry. Suddenly the program freezes and crashes. A window pops up stating that Windows has detected a problem with Revit and must shut the program down. I've everything since my last save. As of now, I recreated a duplicate of the masonry wall I need and started drawing some of the walls for my project but I'm afraid to experiment with other materials. Background Information about my computer: I downloadeda free version of Revit 2012 student software to practice at home. I have Windows 7 64-bit, 6GB of Ram and Intel (R) Core i7 2.20GHz...(I checked all the software requirements before downloading the correct version of Revit 2012)
Do I have to uninstall the program and reinstall it again? Would the problem go away?
My copy of CS5 photoshop freezes when opening saved psds and currently I cant find my cd key for it (in case I need to reinstall) what should I do?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAutoCAD has been freezing randomly when I start it. It will get to the screen below (top image) and.... that's it. It stays that way and does not change. I have waited up to 15 mintues before restarting my computer as trying to start AutoCAD again doesn't seem to change anything.
I have learned that the Devices and Printers window will also be blank when this occures (bottom image). I can now predict when AutoCAD won't open by opening the Devices and Printers window first. I think the issue is unrelated to AutoCAD, rather the issue is my computer not refreshing the Devices and Printers. When CAD is loading the list of available printers it can't find any so it continues to look and.... never gives up.... I can't even print a PDF from Adobe Reader while the Devices and Printers window is in this state (this is actually how I found that the Devices and Printers window was blank). I have not tested to see if ALL applications fail to print, but that is a separate issue.
what is causing my computer not to open the Devices and Printers window successfully?
I am running AutoCAD 2011 64 bit, windows 7, Novell Network.
I'd like to locate the PROPERTIES button in the Home Panel instead of, or in addition to, the View Panel. When I go into CUI, it won't let me move/copy it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis happens on more than one document. A ueser showed me when she references in place, you just see the cursor spinning in a circle. Internet is NOT open, just Outlook.
View 4 Replies View Relatedwe have a new lab in our district with Autocad 2010 64-bit version installed on HP Compaq 8022 Elite SFF computers. There is 4 GB memory on the computers and a Quadro 400 graphics card. Autocad and Windows 7 64-bit have both been updated to the latest versions. The Autocad application locks up almost every time someone chooses the new document icon, or when they try to 'save as'. Sometimes when they choose to open a new document first, close that dialogue box, then try to choose the new document icon it works ok. But, for the most part, the application is unuesable. Some possible solutions we found online that don't work are to not use the Aero themes (we don't) and to not use Norton AV (we don't).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm doing a program in Visual Basic 2010. In one of the forms I put a button that when clicked must open AutoCAD 2012 and make a drawing in it. The user will decide where to save it.The steps are these:
1. I added the references Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop and Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common to the Visual Basic Project. That's OK.
2. I wrote this in the heading of the form's
- Imports Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop
-Imports Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common
3. In the event Click of the Button1 I put this:
Dim acadApp As New AcadApplication 'Create an instance of an AutoCAD Application
AcadApp.Application.Visible = True 'Show the instance of the AutoCAD Application
Dim acadDoc As AcadDocument 'Create an intance of an AutoCAD Document
acadDoc = acadApp.Documents.Open("C:Respaldo TesisDibujo2.dwg") 'Open a Document called Dibujo 2
'Draw a line
Dim PT1(2) As Double

I recently loaded several versions of AutoCAD on to a Windows 7 machine. ALL versions will open a drawing if double-clicked from windows explorer, but if I try to open through AutoCAD, the program freezes as soon as I click on the "Open" button. This is true for AutoCAD 2010 through 2012.
Machine Specs:
Dell Optiplex 990
250GB HD
8GB Ram
I7-2600 proc
AMD Radeon HD 6670 (1Gb) Video Card
I also cannot open multiple instances of ANY version of AutoCAD in Windows 7.
When trying to Save Copy As:
1) When setting file type to AutoCAD dwg or dxf, Inventor has to "think" for about 30 - 45 seconds (i.e. the hourglass cursor shows up).
2) I press 'Options and Inventor "thinks" for about 30-45 seconds, but nothing happens, no DXF export wizard pops up, so I can't change any export settings..
3) If I press save anyway, I get an error message: "problems encountered while saving the document" I have tried repairing, reinstalling, and uninstalling inventor but each option fails.
I have recently upgraded to AutoCAD LT 2012. The copy/paste function and the group/ungroup function are not working. I have run service pack 2 with no improvement.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIf I place a link to a dwg as a hyperlink in an Excel file, AutoCAD freezes. It opens the drawing, then AutoCAD is completely locked. I have to close it through task manager.
This has been tested wih multiple drawings and excel file and it happens in all of them. I'm using Excel 2010 and AutoCAD 2010.

I have a drawing with several views I've saved using the View Manager. Since creating the views, I have created some new layers. Now when I use View Manager to set an existing model space view current, the new layers are set to frozen. When I created the views, I un-checked the 'Save layer snapshot with view' checkbox.
I can thaw the new layers, then use the 'Update layers' button to correct this, but it's a hassle. Why is it freezig layers created after the view was created?
As soon as you double click on a viewport in paper space - cad just craps it self and i have to control-alt-delelte.
Is it this lame HP Z200 workstation.
or is there a way to disable this command so when i accidentally double click it doesn't crash.
Wondering if it was possible to have a .idw drawing automatically update all its copies with any annotation changes. They would all be linked to the same model and would update if the model was altered, but I need only one master drawing whose annotations can be altered. The copies would be read-only, and would be updated when the master changes. Does Inventor have a function like this that links a drawing to its copies?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a user who will be moving to a new Windows 7 computer, for which I have installed AutoCad Civil 3D 2012. They would like it so that all of their settings and preferences are copied over from their current version of AutoCad Civili 3D 2008. Currently the user has windows XP professional.
how to do this as I am unfamiliar with AutoCad.
I have a template for sheet creation with all layers on, thawed, etc. When I insert a view on a sheet, there are VP layers that are frozen.I do not want these settings.
