Just got AutoCad 2012. Commands like Mirror and Copy which involve duplication (no problem with Move or Rotate, for example) will cause AutoCad to not respond for a few minutes. I believe it only is an issue with files brought forward from AutoCad 2000.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhenever I place a copy or paste from the clipboard AutoCAD freezes for about 5 -8 seconds and is very annoying. Time is money people. I know it's not a RAM issue. I don't have the problem with 2011 when I go back to it. What gives Autodesk? When is the next service pack due? This only happens with teh copy command
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I give keyboard commands to open, save or save as the program freezes. Pulldown menu to open and save work fine but pulldown save as freezes and freezes when using commands on "A". Happening in 2009 also. Same thing happened yesterday, repair did not fix it, so uninstalled and reinstalled and all was fine. Now today freezing again.
Had a blue screen message yesterday when I turned on the computer, bad spooler something. Are these problems related or just a coincidence? Using Windows XP. Autocad is up to date as is Windows.
My computer has started freezing (busy spinning wheel) between each command or button click that I do on AutoCAD. The lag time started at 5 sec between each command, which was annoying, but now has increased on complex drawings to up to 45 seconds between anything I touch. I work with 3D models and it's has gotten to the point where I cannot get any work out. I've turned off and on paging, turned off network connections, turned off properties and nothing seems to work.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been having a problem with AutoCad 2012 LT when a am working in the model space I can you the ctrl c and ctrl p commands for a short amount of time and then they will not work. I can open a different model space and they will work in that one, but when I go back to the original one the will not work. I have tried shutting down autocad and the computer, but when I open everything back up the commands still will not work in that model space. I have reinstalled autocad and that brings them back for a short amount of time.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an ipart I'd like to create w/ surfaces. The surface color is important because we use that as plate thickness ID in FEA. When I color a surface blue, then another red I continually get the default color when using the mirror or array command. We're creating a customizeable ipart where there will be some intelligence surrounding how big the array (we may need 3, 4, or 5 beams based on the unit size). I need a way that the colors on the surface propogate to the new surfaces created by the commands.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am getting these white "ghost" boxes with every copy, move or mirror command. They can be individually deleted but that takes too long. The more there are the slower each command takes, to the point a copy can take over a minute. If I save and close then when I reopen they are gone -- until I execute a command. This is unique to a single file I recieved from a friend using a PC based Autocad; I use Autocad for Mac. I had no trouble with his file until I did a "Save As" and used it as a base for a new file. Now, every file that is a copy of it, even any file in which I x-ref it, has the same problem. All of my original, older files are fine. There is simply too much work in these (now) five files to start over. See attached.

The rest of the computer works fine while this is going on. Intel i7 2600 16 GB ram Nvidia G force GTX 460 video card, Windows 7 Home Edition with SP 1 and latest upgades.

But for the past couple of days when I try to use the move, copy, stretch commands, everytime I go to select a base point - autocad selects the point and then automatically snaps or displaces to a random point off of the screen. I don't know if this has something to do with the right mouse click or not, but I can't figure out why it keeps snapping off screen. If I switch and use the enter key or space bar as enter the problem goes away.

My brand spanking new Acad2012 cannot copy anything to the windows clipboard...it freezes as soon as I hit enter after selecting the objects I want to copy. The only solution is to taskmanager and kill it.
I've had to go back to using my old AcadLT 2002 in my WindowsXP VM.
Basically my new Sing$2000 SW is useless unless I can copy blocks form one drawing to another.

If you can mirror a block without mirroring the text within? I tried the mirror text variable and it did not effect the way the block was mirrored.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought the Adobe CS5 master collection from a deal at my university. This error only started happening today, it was completely fine for the last few months up til yesterday, so it doesn't have anything to do with my specs probably.
Whenever I try to copy an image (ctrl + c), Photoshop would freeze. No error, no popup or anything, simply a freeze. The mouse cursor doesn't even turn into that loading icon, but nothing would be click able and any animations (like marquees) would stop.

Adobe Photoshop Version: 12.1 (12.1x20110328 [20110328.r.145 2011/03/28:10:30:00 cutoff; r branch]) x64
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

Also Photoshop CS5 has a lot of bugs when Flash CS5 is also open, causing a ton of crashes of either Flash or Photoshop. It's like these two programs don't like each other. I'm surprised this didn't go noticed during testing ?
I'm trying to change the dafault varible for the mirror command from no to yes. whne you do the mirror command after you choose your second point it asks if you want to erase the source object and the default is set to no but I would like to change it to yes. I'm able to change the macro for the mirror button which works but only when I push the button. Before the cui file I remember everything was done from the acad.pgp or the acad.mnu files but with the new CUI file i can't seem to locate wher to change the actual command and not just the macro for the mirror button.

when i use the ctrol+copy command, I get the "copy to clipboard failed". This has only started since I upgraded to AutoCAD2012.
Why are my edit commands (copy and cut) grayed out / unavailable? When trying to copy a selected layer or object, all my editing commands are grayed out and unavailable. Even if I convert something to a smart object, no joy. The only thing I seem to be able to select and copy/cut/paste is text in the text edit mode. makes no sense and is rendering PS unusable.

When I select a command such as the wall or door command. The command starts then exits out before I can draw anything.
It seems that the 'combine zoom and pan commands' option doesn't work correctly. Let's say it doesn't react as i am used to in previous version. now i have to do the undo command or 'ctrl z' many times before i am back at the point where i want to go. I using the middle mouse button often to zoom in and out, and for panning. but now there are a lot of steps to undo if you want to go back.
I tried to switch of and on this option in the options dialog but no difference.
An older gentleman at our company is very much used to having F12 as endpoint, F11 as intersection and F10 as dist. Now that I've upgraded him to 2011, his life is pretty much ruined.
No matter what I try, I can't get the temporary override buttons to work. F10 always does POLAR, F11 always does OTRACK and F12 always does DYN.
How can I kill AutoCAD's default behavior and implement what he wants done?

In principle, I have no idea about the philosophy beyond which some commands are banned from “window selection!No BUILT-IN icon to Lock All or Unlock All (sure, we can customize it but I’m talking about having this command as built-in)The AutoCAD doesn’t give an alert if a command is applied in the location where particular layers are looked. For example, in many cases, we get into trouble as we move particular objects to discover later that some of the objects were locked! That’s fine, but the AutoCAD should give warnings in case a command is applied where some layers are locked.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAutoCAD has been freezing randomly when I start it. It will get to the screen below (top image) and.... that's it. It stays that way and does not change. I have waited up to 15 mintues before restarting my computer as trying to start AutoCAD again doesn't seem to change anything.
I have learned that the Devices and Printers window will also be blank when this occures (bottom image). I can now predict when AutoCAD won't open by opening the Devices and Printers window first. I think the issue is unrelated to AutoCAD, rather the issue is my computer not refreshing the Devices and Printers. When CAD is loading the list of available printers it can't find any so it continues to look and.... never gives up.... I can't even print a PDF from Adobe Reader while the Devices and Printers window is in this state (this is actually how I found that the Devices and Printers window was blank). I have not tested to see if ALL applications fail to print, but that is a separate issue.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've just encountered strange issue and I cannot find the proper solution anywhere.I work in AutoCAD for 5 years and I am used to type commands on the keyboard (I usualy don't use icons in AutoCAD).
I was used to...just cancel all previous commands by ESC key and start typing the command.But since last week I had to click in the command line to write the command in it. How to type commands without annoying clicking in command line?
I created a command that I no longer use. I actually made a spelling error upon creating it "SUPECLOSE" and I want to delete it.
This is how I created this command: I typed in ALIASEDIT in order to add a new alias to a command.
I then clicked on the "Add" button.
In the "Alias:" field, I typed in "xx"
And in the "AutoCAD Command:" field, I typed in "SUPECLOSE" - which isn't actually an autoCAD command. "SUPERCLOSE" is the command I use to run a custom LISP routine that I created. Upon hitting pressing "OK" to this, AutoCAD prompted me with: "'SUPECLOSE' is a new command, Do you want to add this to your list of commands?"
I said yes. And then shortly afterwards realized the spelling error I had made. Problem is...I don't know how to access this list and delete the new command that I had just created (which does nothing).
We are working in AutoCAD 2010 and the keyboard shortcut commands are not working for one of our users. we are having difficulty getting it back online for her. we tried a menu load for the acad.pgp file and it isn't working .
