May 16, 2012If you can mirror a block without mirroring the text within? I tried the mirror text variable and it did not effect the way the block was mirrored.

AutoCad :: Mirroring A Block With Internal Text
Apr 19, 2012I am trying to mirror a block which has text defined internally. However, the text will not reverse when the block is mirrored. I have read some documentation which said to use MIRRTEXT with a setting of "1".
I tried this and it didn't work, are there any other options which allows the block to stay intact and not have to explode it?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Flipping Logo Within Block Without Mirroring It?
Oct 26, 2011I'm trying to make a Dynamic Block for handicap parking spaces (attached).
I have a flip action so that I can switch the direction of the linear array. The problem is when I flip the block, the handicap logo is mirrored (obviously....).
Is there a way to mirror just the location of the logo, instead of mirroring the location AND the logo?
Would it be possible to make a block with the handicap logo and lock the X scale value to 1 ?...
worst comes to worst, i'll remove the flip action and replace it with a rotate action.

Mar 22, 2013Is there a command out there that allows you to mirror objects from an apparent midpoint from like an otrack without physically drawing a line then having to erase it later? I thought there was a way to do it, but my memory is failing me.

It's not just one bit of text, if I mirror my entire drawing, every piece of text in it does, too. A co-worker a year ago had figured out how to keep some certain objects with text in them (shelving/tables - we do foodservice layouts) from mirroring, but it has been so long, she forgot the program.

Aug 6, 2012I got a simple question about the creation of copies of an object. Is it possible to have the objects in the mirroring of an object change with the object used as reference for mirroring?
If there is no function to do this directly is there a way to do it via Ilogics to update the mirrored objects? If possible even by deleting and creating a new the mirroring yet not manually but by i logic?

AutoCad :: Dynamic Block Scale And Mirror?
Apr 18, 2011On some of my blocks i have started using quiet a few parameters, Although i have noticed on the blocks that have scale and flip, it goes wrong. is there a way i can get the flip parameter to follow the center of the block after scaling?
similar with a block of a door in plan, i have got the rotate working, and the scale to fit the door opening, but if i rotate first the scale parameter don't follow the rotation of the door making it difficult to then scale the block from the using the block parameters!
AutoCAD 2010 :: Attribute Text Twice In A Block?
Apr 27, 2012I need to create blocks in which the same text appears twice. I've created an invisible attribute to hold the text and created two mtext object containing fields that point to the attribute value.
The text fields show the default value of my attribute but will not change when the attribute is set on an placed instance. After setting the attribute on an instance I've tried UPDATEFIELD and REGEN but still I see the default value.

Jul 23, 2013whenever I make a block with attributed text the block works just fine when I insert it into a drawing like normal. However if I try and open the block drawing by itself the attributed text just turns into normal text after I get this message "Orphan Attdef Objects found & Converted to Text". This problem seems to happen on two of our machines but a third co-workers machine still works fine.

Sep 5, 2013I currently use only 2D applications. I'm having a problem with text. No matter what font I use the text comes in as a block, if I need to make a correction I have to explode the text before I can edit it.
In my much earlier version of AutoCad I didn't have this problem. I can't find anything in the text settings windows to change this. Is there a setting or flag in 2013 that will just use text without having to explode each occurence of it for any editing?

“Rotate” and “Align” are possible commands to align the text with particular line. Parallel constrain is another option to do so but will make the drawing “busy” with additional parameter.
Equally, what if I need to make a block parallel to a particular line? In this case, the “parallel constrain” doesn’t work! Just I may take the advantage of “rotate” and “align”..What I wanted to know if there is a more brilliant way to get the“text” or “block” PARALLEL to a particular line with a smart tool.

Jan 17, 2012I have a dynamic block with attributed text that I want to remain horizontal right reading even when the block is rotated. I have set up the parameters and the actions how I was taught and even revisited one of AU's downloadable lessons to try to get it correct. my settings are the same as in the lesson. I have the rotate parameter / action set to only the geometry and did not select the attributed text. I also have the attribute locked. Nothing I do gets the text to rotate with the block and stay horizontal and right reading. It will either rotate the text along with the block or just leave the text stationary. I have tried adding a point parameter to the text but that doesn't seem to work either. I am using Base ACAD 2010 I have also attached the block for troubleshooting.

Feb 6, 2013AC 2012, Win 7 64 Bit..I sent up this template a while ago, and for the life of me, I can't remember how I setup the text in the title block.I had it set so some text would only have to be changed on the first sheet, and the remainder would automatically populate on a regen.
When I tried to duplicate it, in the field dialog box I can't seem to find out how I got the block reference. Field category=Objects, Field names=Object, Object Type=Block reference.

We are currently using AutoCAD Electrical. We need to do this on over 10,000 drawings so we would like to be able to write a script or lisp routine so we could run a batch across all of the drawings.

Apr 30, 2012We have some blocks that have static text labels on the left and numeric attributes on the right. When these blocks are rotated so the text is near vertical the static text has a bold appearance.
If you explode/burst the block then this 'bold' appearance goes away. If you rotate the text to normal then the effect disappears as well. The bold appearance shows up on a plot as well. The effect is subtle at times but noticeable.
Sample drawing attached, see the block near the top of the drawing and a copy of it rotated to normal. Use the BURST command on the block on the left to see the change.

Jun 18, 2013I am using AutoCAD 2012 (Electrical). I have a few blocks that I pasted in a drawing with text that is contained in attributes.
I would like to explode these blocks so that I can make some changes to them, but when I do this, I lose the text that is contained in the attributes. After exploding the blocks, I just see the attribute names rather than the text that they originally contained.
I hate to have to re-type all this info. If I could somehow choose to choose to convert the text originally contained in attributes to plain old static text, that would be perfect for me.

Mar 23, 2012I need to lay one of our existing blocks ontop of every power outlet on a floorplan (the power outlets are currently shown as a simple shape (eg. either a rectangle, triangle or circle) with text next to it.
There are hundreds of power outlets, so if there is a lisp routine for replacing any part of the power outlet with the block, eg. replacing text/mtext with a block or replacing a pline with a block.
I have found a very successful lisp routine for replacing circles with blocks, but this obviously only works on the power outlets that are shown as circles. So a simpler way of looking at it could be a lisp for drawing a circle around mtext/text then I could simply use the circle to block lisp to place the blocks.

Jul 5, 2011Just got AutoCad 2012. Commands like Mirror and Copy which involve duplication (no problem with Move or Rotate, for example) will cause AutoCad to not respond for a few minutes. I believe it only is an issue with files brought forward from AutoCad 2000.

Oct 22, 2012I'm trying to change the dafault varible for the mirror command from no to yes. whne you do the mirror command after you choose your second point it asks if you want to erase the source object and the default is set to no but I would like to change it to yes. I'm able to change the macro for the mirror button which works but only when I push the button. Before the cui file I remember everything was done from the acad.pgp or the acad.mnu files but with the new CUI file i can't seem to locate wher to change the actual command and not just the macro for the mirror button.

Jan 12, 2012It is about mirroring text.I have MTEXT , so I want my text to be displayed by the mirror line but not to be mirrored itself so it can be readable. Imagine two twin buildings ,exactly the same but mirrored. I have one of them done , but not the other one. And they are huge. So when I try to mirror everything at the same time the text is going on its proper place but it's not readable cause it's mirrored. I know that there is an option this text to be only displayed , I've done this before , but I don't remember on which version. Now I'm using AutoCAD 2004.

For example, say I have a block representing a telephone and it had an attribute called "PhoneNo" and I inserted it into a drawing showing an office floor plan that had blocks in each office space that are telephone junction boxes with attributes "PhoneExtension". I would like to be able to autocomplete the entering of the “PhoneNo” data by selecting one of the telephone junction boxes in the drawing and using its attribute’s value.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Convert Block Back To Title Block Or Border
Feb 15, 2012We have a title block and border which is used in MS. If this is referenced using AMTITLE then it acts as expected. We issue these to some external people to create our drawings but they have been using CTRL-C and V to place them in a new drawing. ACAD does now not see them as a Title block or border but as blocks. We have a process to bring DWG's into SAP and this will check for a title block and border.
The issue is we need to fix these drawings and currently this means removing the borders and title blocks and placing new ones then adding all the attributes again. Is there a way to convert the blocks back to how they should be?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Way To Have Block Within Block That Has Same Ability To Move Around
Aug 15, 2013I have a block (room info) that has five line os text with attributes that display grips which allow them to be moved in whatever drawing I put them in. Within that block there is a little polyline that is the square with a dash through it to represent sq. ft. that I made into a seperate block ( sq ft tick). The room info block part of it works great in all my drawings, but the darn sq ft tick block within the room info block won't budge! I have tried giving it a seperate insertion point and giving that block its own attribute, but no luck.
Is there any way to have a block within a block that has the same ability to move around as the other elements?
CorelDRAW X6 :: Mirror Text Creates Undesired Transformations?
Aug 7, 2012Problem: My artists are telling me that they are experiencing a transformation of their text when they try to do a mirror. We do a process called sublimation that requires us to print our artwork backwards, and when they perform the mirror operation occasionally the text either crunches together from left to right, or stretches out in the same direction.
The mirror also chances the size of shapes, overall it seems to be an issue with the Mirror action. So far the only effective way to fix the problem is to restart the PC. I have asked them to try restarting CorelDraw alone, and will see if they works next time.
