I have a series of drawings and am unable to make some block text for risers not appear hidden.If I paste the block into another drawing I get the text to appear but then when I try to bring back into this drawing it becomes hidden.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I purge a drawing, the text styles are not a selectable option (as if there are no purgeable text styles). if i use (-purge), it will purge the unused text styles. I can also go into the Styles dialog box and delete the styles. It happens in all drawings and nobody else in the dept has the problem. I can't find any settings that would exclude any items from the purge dialog box as well. Autocad 2012? windows 7 64 bit.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of our standard practices is to copy/ paste schedules from EXCEL into CAD. The OLE objects paste with the text color set to whatever was set up in EXCEL. But for one user , his text always changes to blue in the copy paste process. We cannot figure out how to change it to match everyone elses. Is this a CAD setting or EXCEL setting.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an existing DWG and am adding FDO layers. I have styled the FDO data and given it bright colors so it is easy to see, but no styling is taking effect and the data is hidden. I can select by clicking on records in the show data table menu found by right-clicking on the FDO layers in the task pane.
If I create a new DWG I am able to see this data so the problem appears to be local to this DWG. I also tried copying this data set into a new DWG and the problem persists.
I work with a company network, and everytime after do different updates in a project at the time to reopen the file appears "file not valid".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm transferring a 1st draft book from a PDF file by copying and pasting text and photos. So far, so good.
During the pasting process, I've selected to maintain fonts and formatting. Despite this, the text gets pasted with only some of the formatting and some correct fonts. But that's easily fixable.
All the text, now in X4, is Left Justified. The author has requested that it be Full Justified (looks better). When I select a paragraph and Full Justify it, the words/lines shrink further to the left. Altering the Spacing from the default 60% to 100% allows it move to the right, but not all the way to the right of the text box.
I've tried hyphenation. Still, there's a limit to how far right the text is allowed to go.Force Justify stretches it all out fine, but the spaces are too big between the words.
I made a new text box and typed in the same content that's in a paragraph of the pasted text. It Fully Justifies perfectly!
So, there seems to be some invisible 'barrier' within the pasted text stopping the Full Justify process from working properly.
when working in my current drawing (Model Space), i create a new mtext item, and it shows in bold, i am aware of the common problem of the text items having a z height other than 0.00 causing this, but i have checked, and reset the z height, have also tried the flatten command, and even tried explode and then flatten/z height.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a dwg with (dynamic) blocks and when i do a find and replace, it finds ivisbile text that aren't there. i did allready purge, there is no freezed or off layer. even when i copy the whole drawing into another empty dwg it appears.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn 2008, never had this issue.Just dumb, circles, and lines in a view port, that have hidden or center linetyoes assigned to them. When we go to plot using legacy hidden (this new for 2012?) the plot comes out with continuous lines. These are not solids. Just ordinary line entities.Now, when I change the shadeplot to "hidden" the linetype is shown correctly, but now my entities are coloured, when I just want my drawing to be black and white (going to PDF), even though all of the colours in the pen style are set to "Black".
Has this changed? Is there a new variable introduced?
I have created a dynamic block with a stretch, flip and rotate. Everything works great in its file. When I insert it in another file, the grips move but the block does not change.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a surface that I want to be semi-tranparent, it seems the only practical solution at the moment is to eXplode it so that layer transparency will affect it. Which is fine, I guess, for the time being (well actually it's not but we don't have much choice with 2013 do we?).
Putting that aside, my issue now is that every time I hover over the exploded block, it does a selection 'preview' which is distracting to say the least. So I want this exploded surface to be unselectable. Is there a way? If I lock the layer, it dims it, which I don't want. If I freeze the layer the exploded surface just disappears.

I recently upgraded to 2011 from 2008. I remember I had to configure something in 2008 to make block geometry selectable as it pertains to selecting for dimensioning. Example: I have a block inserted and want to show some of the dimensions without doing it in the block editor or exploding the block. I have searched, googled and looked at the Options panel in 2011 but cannot find how to do this. I seem to recall there was a variable to turn on or off but can't remember for sure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNot sure what causes a page setup already created and previously used to not be able to be selected at a later time. When selecting it, it reverts back to <none>. Does this mean the plotter changed/is not available? The network name for the plotter did not change, but the model of the plotter changed slightly. I have the same setup saved in 100's of drawings and assumed that as long as the network name for the plotter remained the same, the setup would continue to work.

For some reason (I think it's got to do with copy and pasting) there are a lot of groups which are not selectable anymore. I know I can use the grouping dialogue to turn unselectable groups to selectable. However, as I mentioned, there are several thousand groups to filter through.
Is there a way to gobally change all group properties to selectable?
I have made gridlines and put them on a locked layer. I want to be able to see them and snap to them, but I don't want to select them. Their selectability is hindering my ability to select objects on other layers. Is there any way to make lines on locked layers not selectable? (I don't like the Autocad standard grid.)

View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing Autocad 2011. If I pick an object, any object, in an old drawing, or newly created drawing, I cannot change it's color in the Quick Properties dialog box. "Color" is grayed out, and not selectable. I can change it via the pulldown in the Layer Manager on my toolbar, but not in the Quick Properties dialog. This just started happening.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI need to create blocks in which the same text appears twice. I've created an invisible attribute to hold the text and created two mtext object containing fields that point to the attribute value.
The text fields show the default value of my attribute but will not change when the attribute is set on an placed instance. After setting the attribute on an instance I've tried UPDATEFIELD and REGEN but still I see the default value.
whenever I make a block with attributed text the block works just fine when I insert it into a drawing like normal. However if I try and open the block drawing by itself the attributed text just turns into normal text after I get this message "Orphan Attdef Objects found & Converted to Text". This problem seems to happen on two of our machines but a third co-workers machine still works fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently use only 2D applications. I'm having a problem with text. No matter what font I use the text comes in as a block, if I need to make a correction I have to explode the text before I can edit it.
In my much earlier version of AutoCad I didn't have this problem. I can't find anything in the text settings windows to change this. Is there a setting or flag in 2013 that will just use text without having to explode each occurence of it for any editing?
When I use the copy with base point command in paper space and try to paste it into paper space of another drawing it seems to come in on a different axis or something. I can see the view ports as they are supposed to be however the text just shows as a line. It would be as if I were to put text in model space on top view and see it just fine then go to a front view and see just a line.

“Rotate” and “Align” are possible commands to align the text with particular line. Parallel constrain is another option to do so but will make the drawing “busy” with additional parameter.
Equally, what if I need to make a block parallel to a particular line? In this case, the “parallel constrain” doesn’t work! Just I may take the advantage of “rotate” and “align”..What I wanted to know if there is a more brilliant way to get the“text” or “block” PARALLEL to a particular line with a smart tool.
I have a dynamic block with attributed text that I want to remain horizontal right reading even when the block is rotated. I have set up the parameters and the actions how I was taught and even revisited one of AU's downloadable lessons to try to get it correct. my settings are the same as in the lesson. I have the rotate parameter / action set to only the geometry and did not select the attributed text. I also have the attribute locked. Nothing I do gets the text to rotate with the block and stay horizontal and right reading. It will either rotate the text along with the block or just leave the text stationary. I have tried adding a point parameter to the text but that doesn't seem to work either. I am using Base ACAD 2010 I have also attached the block for troubleshooting.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAC 2012, Win 7 64 Bit..I sent up this template a while ago, and for the life of me, I can't remember how I setup the text in the title block.I had it set so some text would only have to be changed on the first sheet, and the remainder would automatically populate on a regen.
When I tried to duplicate it, in the field dialog box I can't seem to find out how I got the block reference. Field category=Objects, Field names=Object, Object Type=Block reference.
Is there an easy way to transfer the text inserted in one attribute and copy it over to another attribute in the same block? This is for a titleblock. We are currently using AutoCAD Electrical. We need to do this on over 10,000 drawings so we would like to be able to write a script or lisp routine so we could run a batch across all of the drawings.
