After Effects :: Import A Clip When The Window Automatically Closes?

I was unable to even open After Effects CC when I upgraded to OS Mavericks. Once I realized adobe released a patch for it (the 12.0.1 "trial" update), the program opened. I thought all was fine, until I attempted to import a new video clip. It would not let me even move the clip, let alone edit it, before giving me a "grouping" error, and then abruptly crashing. Today Adobe released the 12.1 update, which seems to be running ok, except the window for importing footage automatically closes once opened. I can no longer just drag a new clip in to my composition either.

(P7). All of a sudden I can't open it! It starts to load and just as it finishes the credits, it closes automatically!

It was working perfectly fine over the weekend and then Monday I open illustrator and try to open a drawing I was working on and it closes on me everytime. Now I can't open or save files without it closing itself. I would uninstall and reinstall it but i lost my code. I have to make vector images for a couple of clients of mine!

My Histogram is always gone when opening Gimp. It says "recently closed" but I never close it. I want it to stay open the way it used to.

After installing Mavericks, I can no longer link files in illustrator CC as the finder window closes by itself after one second or if I click on anything. It was happening with save as also, but that seems to have rectified itself by reinstalling the program.

I have a problem with Corel Video Studio Pro X4, I have a couple of short clips (avi format), put together in a project. Most of them I want to use muted, for the exception of 1 clip, with this one I need the audio. Only... when I play the whole bunch in project mode, all of my clips are automatically muted, also the one where I don't want it to be. It's getting quite annoying, I'm new to the program and can not find a solution for this problem. I tried to unmute the clip, but no luck. When I play the clip separately in clip mode, the audio is fine..

I was just playing around and wanted to put a text layer on top of another layer, I hit a problem with drop shadows though.
I would like the drop shadow only to appear on the bottom layer, at present it drops some of the shadow into what is empty space
Here is an image to show you what I mean
Arh seems I can not upload images yet, well think of a transparant background
layer one is an oval disk and layer two is some text.
The text starts half way up the disk and reaches above it, I want to get rid of the drop shadow that is above the disk.
(my username is also a domain com or uk where I put the images)
Is there a way to clip the effects to the bottom layer, I have been messing with masks but its not happening for me.

How can I extend the whole clip. Composition setting a setupped for 1min and 30 sec. My clip is 45 sec. How can i extend it to 1.30. when I press Ctr + Alt+T. Its allows me to extend a orange frames , but without extended the content inside.

I have never had this problem before, so maybe this is a problem exclusive to NewBlue Effects. I thought that when I used VideoStudio to create effects for a clip (let's say it's 1 minute in length) and after split the clip into two 30 sec clips, that my effects work would be maintained and also split between the clips.
But when I tried this with NewBlue Color Fixer, the first 30 sec clip looked correct. My keyframes were just as I had set them. But the second clip had lost all it's keyframes and in fact was totally in B&W. I couldn't fix this by adding keyframes to the second clip or anything adjustment at all. The only solution was to delete the Color Fixer effect from this second clip, and then redo the effects work.
Is this normal? What assurance is granted by VideoStudio "effects" such that clips can later be split and have this work retained? Otherwise, it should be clear that no one should use these effects until the very end, when all clips have been sized.

Some clips/projects are with different resolution, i have rendered all projects separately and created individual .mov clips. Now i want to create final movie by combining all the clips. my client is very particular about the design & does not want the width & height of the images & text to change like they do in a responsive site- he just wants the site to scale to fit in a browser window.

i usually start the render process and leave the pc and shut down after render process finishes but it would be great if there is any built in option to do so automatically.

If there is still an option somewhere where I can force my import to be frames and set duration to 5 or 10 frames like in 2012. or force a set of sequences o be imported as one clip.
Update: Found the frames option but no frame durations available. But no single clip available in case of importing multiple sequences or frames that need to be in a single sequence.

I'm having serious issues in Illustrator CS5 trying to import SVG files with nested clip-path properties.
Illutrator seems to create unnecessary groups, and messes up with group parents, effectively screwing things up.
Here is a minimal example :

Such a valid SVG file displays fine in Chrome, IE, Opera, Firefox, but Illustrator fails loading it properly, because it creates two groups between "main" and "piece-1" (which is in itself not too bad), and sets piece-1 as a brother of another unnecesarry group from which piece-2 will descend. piece-2 and piece-1 are then clipped with piece-1 clip-path, which is just plain wrong and screws display.
Note that you can move piece-2 to the root of the document, which restores the display. But save this fixed file, and open it again : it"s back to its broken state.
Does anoyone know if this is fixed in CS6 ? If there is a workaround ?

I've been told that LR5 automatically corrects blown out highlights upon import, even with raw. Also, I was told that LR5 adds contrast to the file upon import, even with raw. The person that said this corrects for this by decreasing exposure by 2 steps and decreasing contrast by -33.

For my project I created a chat window where the spoken text and questions are written down.
The window is limited to 3 lines, and each character and line is written itself, using the opacity text animation and its offset value. (like typewriting) how can I drop the first line when a new one starts and push the remaining 2 lines up? The only solution that i thought about is moving the whole textlayer in a mask upwards, but i think there is a much easier solution around.

When I start rendering a composition, I usually just go to a spare monitor to browse the web and do additional work. However whenever I click onto my new monitor, AE stops rendering and gives me the 'finished sound'. Why doesn't it complete rendering? I have to leave my computer alone and keep a window selected in AE for it to complete.

Have to enter a lot of text snippets into illustrator cs4 every day, would love to make my live easier.
I'm trying to figure out how to import text to illustrator automaticly.
I have olny a few parameters: the text, what font to use, the size of the text (the text width and length in mm as if the text would be converted to outlines, needs to be exactly the right size) and the coulor.
Usually its one line of text, sometimes more lines of wich i have the widht and length of the complete block of text
The parameters could be in a cvs-file or something like that, ideally all texts would be imported in one file but it could be seperate files
Texts should be converted to outlines and saved as AI version 3
Is it possible to do this?

I did a quick screen capture, and as you can see, the picture on the right (saturated) is the "unedited" version in lightroom, and the picture on the left is the raw file opened (used IrfanView). As you can see, my original file is quite flat, and I like it that way (easeier to edit), but lightroom imports it, and when I click on it to develop, it adds saturation. If I wanted to make it look like the origianl, I have to manually bring down the saturation by ~ -30! Why is Lightroom auto adjusting my images?
I used a Canon 6D to take this picture.
