Nov 2, 2010Is there anyway of entering a starting file number for a clip import? Eg uvs101102_123459~0.mpg is just too long for the thumbnails.

View 14 RepliesWe had a crash whilst entering CFX of a clip. Unable to open the project, Smoke continues crashing. Creating new Project does not work, Smoke crashes when trying to access the other one's library.
It crashes on trying to create the thumbnail for the timeline, I suppose. The CFX that caused the mess is the first clip.
In the meantime we recreated everything from scratch, luckily not a big deal. But I'd not like to enter this situation with clients. And they are expected to attend a session next week. I suggest to add a real LIST VIEW in the browser. Without those small thumbnails.
Truly there was some messy setup in the CFX.
I have a path that turned out to be a litt ethicker than it needs to be.
I see that I can expand a path with Offset Path. I have read online that you can contract a path by entering a negative number, but when I try that, it ignores the minus sign and expends the path instead.
Is there some other way to contract the path?
I keep entering my 26 alpha-number redemption code correctly and nothing happens?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a 20 sec RAW .mts clip taken with a Panasonic TM700. I wanted to test it in VS X3 to see if the program would handle the file.
I noticed that when selecting "Project" to play the file in the preview window that certain elements of the clip look very noisy or overly sharp...Grainy, if you will. Other elements look slightly blurred. The playback seems smooth though.
However, If selecting "Clip" it looks much better. When I drag the sliders to expand the preview window to it's max size, the "Clip" playback looks flawless yet the "Project" playback, while slightly better, still looks less than desirable.
1). Why?
Here are the properties copied from the Time-line.
2)assuming I were to edit several clips from this camera in X3 to create a short 5-10 min film for upload to Vimeo, how would I best render to maintain the highest quality?
Before I decide to buy this camera, I just want to be sure that X3 can handle the files and that I have a fairly decent grasp of how to properly render the final video. In the mean time, I'll keep editing some sample clips and see how the program handles them. I'll also attempt to render a short film or 2 and see how that goes.
When using multiple sheets within an IDW. Can the first sheet start out with a number other than 1, in otherwords start with sheet number 31, then every sheet after that be indexed by 1, ie 32, 33, 34 etc.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of giving Video-studio another chance, in that I am testing VSX4 TBYB, Let me say - its a close tossup between Cyberlinks latest Power Producer and its amazing speed and quality output albeit a little more fiddly, and well to be honest if it were not for Video-Studio's past history being so fresh in my mind the decision would have been easy..
Anyway - So far my clips captured with my new Canon Legria HF-G10 don't show any evidence of that Old AVCHD editing blip or mismatched frames around a transition when working with raw AVCHD Files,
So is it safe to assume that the problem is now redundant for good!????? Or have I just been lucky so far - or is that unlucky? in that the TBYB is coded differently to the Ultimate version which I may or may not end up getting..
My other concern was and still is the fact that some of my old raw MP4 video clips can not be directly imported into VSX4 TBYB as they could when I tried VSX3 TBYB version before I ended up deferring, so I am wondering whether this only applies to the VSX4 TBYB seeing VSX3 TBYB had no problems? or is that another major issue that Corel just cant get right, what with only the occasional version capable of working with all multimedia files out there..
Which reminds me is anybody else noticing a significant contrast and detail loss even after smart rendering with VSX4? or is this only because I am using a TBYB version and thus full 25 Mbit Rendering is available in the Ultimate version?
When I select a clip, it then goes to the start of the clip, how can I sop this happening and the clip stays in the same position when selected.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm on a macbook pro and it seems that I cannot move a clip by selecting it and entering + or - and a number. This can be accomplished with a full sized keyboard by using the number pad on the right, but cannot be accomplished by using the regular laptop keyboard. Am I missing something? Is there a way to edit the keyboard shortcuts to do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt seems that I cannot enter a special character into the text of a title with Alt-0xxx, even though this works with just about all other Windows applications. Is this a feature or a bug? Or is there a way to do this that I'm unaware of?
For the moment I'm entering the special characters into a text editor, then copying and pasting them into the title, which works, but is awkward. I don't understand why VideoStudio doesn't let me enter the characters directly.
The characters in question are things like typographic quotes, some accented characters, bugs like copyright and registered trademark, and other things that are not unusual to need to use in a title.
I'd like to animate a clothes peg - open & closing symmetrically. The model has been imported from Inventor but the whole reference & constraining environment is so different. The clothes pegs clip together & I want to show this in the animation.(youtube link below made using Showcase)
My best guess so far: create a dummy within a local environment & untick x & y rotations, place at 0,0,0 create a bone from 0,0,0 & link to the dummy move half the peg to 0,0,0 & link to the dummy.
Copy - rotate to form the opposite half - move to 0,0,0
Now I'm stuck - I want both halves to share a common pivot axis & open & close symmetrically. Next is to copy this working pair & move it to clamp to an independent copy.
Search youtube for PegoAC to see what I've done so far using Inventor & Showcase.
I have a problem with Lightroom 4.1. When I start the import, lightroom crashes with an "Application Error" all the time. I tried to trash the preference file, but there was no change. I tried to make a clear catalog, but no change to my problem. At least, I deinstalled Lightroom completely and installed it again. But the same problem. The problem was not from the beginning. I could import several pictures. 20k pictures are imported.
Informations about my computer:

When choosing an Import-preset with "Make a Second Copy To" selected and the external drive is not connected (e.g. working on location, ejected ext. drive temporarily), LR starts the copy process to primary location first. Only after copying LR notices that second copy location is offline, displays a warning dialog and won't start preview rendering until warning dialog is dismissed. But user might have left his computer to grab a coffee since rendering eats up CPU power.
Result, Problem:
1. Processing time is lost if user comes back to computer after intentionally taking a break only to discover that computer will be slowed down under processing load again.
2. Files have to be backed up manually. If "eject card after import is selected", user even has to re-insert card again.
Solution A: When Import with backup to external drive is selected, check and warn immediately if drive is not connected.
a) Import button is greyed out with a little red ! or some sort of indicator. User is asked to connect drive or skip backup this time
or
b) Warning dialog is displayed immediately after clicking Import button. Options as in a) are given. Disadvantage: user might miss warning, if sound turned off and turns away from computer immediately after clicking.
Solution B: Allow drive re-connect and copying later
1. Copy to primary location
2. Copy to second location, skip if drive not connected
3. Render previews
4. Display message "The following files could not be copied..." with added new feature "Please connect drive, then selct "copy now" button.I am using Lightroom 3.6 on Mac OS 10.7.2
I have several AVCHD folders I've copied to my HD in the last year from my Panasonic HDCSD20. Now I'm ready to edit them in VSX4. Is there any advantage to using "file/import media file to library" (which makes a copy in the working folder) vs just clicking on the folder icon and adding them? I've looked at the file size on both the original clip and the imported one and they are identical. It does seem as though VS extracts the original date and time shot and uses that as the imported file name,

I'm running Ulead Video Studio 11, and I have AVI files I have downloaded from the internet. When I try to import them into Ulead I get the following message - ''(FILENAME) is not accessible'' followed by ''These files cannot be added to this project. These files may be of unknown file format, the computer does not have enough memory or the file is copyright protected''
If I right click the files, this is the info I get -
Image
624x352 Pixels
Audio
142kbps
MPEG Layer 3
Video
23 Frames Per Second
1117kbps
Am I missing some form of codec for this particular AVI ?
I have received a bunch of files that are named "clip.dv". I can play them using VLC Media Player. It tells me the file type is "DV Video (dv )". Video Studio X4 will not allow me to import the file.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am getting a File Format Mismatch error when I try to import .jpg , .png or .bmp files into Video Studio 5x. and 6x (trial version). If I try using the file menu (Insert media file to time linephoto), I get an error dialog that tells me I can't insert the file because of a few different reasons.
If I try using the Import Media Files folder icon, I get a File Format Mismatch Error. I can open these files with MS Paint as well as Paint Shop Pro so there is no issue with the files themselves. Also, if I just drag and drop the files from File Explore to the StoryBoard frame, I don't get any errors and I can render my video. Since I have two copies, I installed one on my vista machine and I don't get that error. I can import .avi movie and .mpg files with no error.
I also installed Service Pack 1 for Video Studio 5x. I am running Win7 64 bit home premium SP1.
I would like to create a Word/text file and import it into my Video Studio project file for the credits at the end of a play that I have taped.

I have Adobe Photoshop CS2 version 9.0, and when I just go to File>new. I then see your typical settings for a new blank photoshop document, and click OK. And rather then show me a blank white canvas to work on like normal, I get nothing. It just goes to the default workspace. (The grey background of photoshop, with the tools ect.)?
The only thing I seem to be able to do is open some JPEG images, but then it wont let me rotate them 90 degrees either, so its landscape?

Corel draw x4 starts up fine, when you either pick a template, open an existing file, or click the new drawing button the mouse pointer becomes the circle and it says Processing at the bottom right corner of the screen, the status bar next to processing does not progress at all and it just stays like this until i close it. It says (not responding) in the top bar.
I have downloaded the updates from corel draw and have also un installed corel draw and re installed it and it is still the same.
If there is still an option somewhere where I can force my import to be frames and set duration to 5 or 10 frames like in 2012. or force a set of sequences o be imported as one clip.
Update: Found the frames option but no frame durations available. But no single clip available in case of importing multiple sequences or frames that need to be in a single sequence.

how the whole connection between everybody with Smart Objects is supposed to work... Is this a Photoshop thing, a Bridge thing, or a Lightroom thing?I have a RAW image in Lightrom... I make adjustments. I open it in Photoshop as a Smart Object. Add layers, fiddle, do normal Photoshop stuff. Then I realize I goofed on the original RAW in Lightroom and had sharpened it BEFORE I went into Photoshop.
So, I open the RAW back up from Photoshop, which of course, opens in Bridge, NOT Lightroom, and fix the sharpening. Then back to Photoshop where I finish fiddling and save the .psd file.EXCEPT, as near as I can tell, I now have a RAW file in Lightroom that doesn't know changes have been made.
And, since I haven't written the metadata to the RAW file on disk, I have a file in Lightroom that doesn't match what's on disk, a .psd file that doesn't match the RAW file that's in Lightroom, and changes made in Bridge that don't seem to be anywhere...
How do I make sure the RAW file in Lightroom stays up-to-date with what's being used as the starting image in Photoshop? And how do I get Lightroom updated with whatever changes got made in Bridge?
when trying to edit an image I keep getting a message that says it is trying find the image - even though it is already open in the organiser space. - It says it is searching for a missing file!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was unable to even open After Effects CC when I upgraded to OS Mavericks. Once I realized adobe released a patch for it (the 12.0.1 "trial" update), the program opened. I thought all was fine, until I attempted to import a new video clip. It would not let me even move the clip, let alone edit it, before giving me a "grouping" error, and then abruptly crashing. Today Adobe released the 12.1 update, which seems to be running ok, except the window for importing footage automatically closes once opened. I can no longer just drag a new clip in to my composition either.
