Photoshop :: Starting A New PS File, Get Nothing!?
Apr 19, 2009
I have Adobe Photoshop CS2 version 9.0, and when I just go to File>new. I then see your typical settings for a new blank photoshop document, and click OK. And rather then show me a blank white canvas to work on like normal, I get nothing. It just goes to the default workspace. (The grey background of photoshop, with the tools ect.)?
The only thing I seem to be able to do is open some JPEG images, but then it wont let me rotate them 90 degrees either, so its landscape?
how the whole connection between everybody with Smart Objects is supposed to work... Is this a Photoshop thing, a Bridge thing, or a Lightroom thing?I have a RAW image in Lightrom... I make adjustments. I open it in Photoshop as a Smart Object. Add layers, fiddle, do normal Photoshop stuff. Then I realize I goofed on the original RAW in Lightroom and had sharpened it BEFORE I went into Photoshop.
So, I open the RAW back up from Photoshop, which of course, opens in Bridge, NOT Lightroom, and fix the sharpening. Then back to Photoshop where I finish fiddling and save the .psd file.EXCEPT, as near as I can tell, I now have a RAW file in Lightroom that doesn't know changes have been made.
And, since I haven't written the metadata to the RAW file on disk, I have a file in Lightroom that doesn't match what's on disk, a .psd file that doesn't match the RAW file that's in Lightroom, and changes made in Bridge that don't seem to be anywhere...
How do I make sure the RAW file in Lightroom stays up-to-date with what's being used as the starting image in Photoshop? And how do I get Lightroom updated with whatever changes got made in Bridge?
when trying to edit an image I keep getting a message that says it is trying find the image - even though it is already open in the organiser space. - It says it is searching for a missing file!
Corel draw x4 starts up fine, when you either pick a template, open an existing file, or click the new drawing button the mouse pointer becomes the circle and it says Processing at the bottom right corner of the screen, the status bar next to processing does not progress at all and it just stays like this until i close it. It says (not responding) in the top bar.
I have downloaded the updates from corel draw and have also un installed corel draw and re installed it and it is still the same.
I am used to a different more limited paint software package.
So doing simple stuff in Photoshop is new to me.
When I clicked on the color square it presented me with a dialog box to select a color. I tried everything I could think of but it only gives me shades of gray.
After installing Photoshop CS on my laptop (PIII 866Mhz, 256Mb) it won't start. Error message is "Memory could not be allocated for the activation process. Please close all applications and try again". Adobe list the minimum spec as PIII and 128Mb.
It's a fresh install of XP - all updated now & naturally fresh install of Pshop which did work for a while.. Machine is new, dualcore intel, 2GB ram, 2 hard drives. Was wondering was dualcore a problem (it's new for me as well as for pshop 5.5 - but it wasnt a problem initially, so..)
I can think of 2 things I did before this problem arose -
1) installed Adobe Illustrator 8
2) changed windows page file to a partition on second harddrive & set photoshops scratchdiscs to same partition [unfortunately dont know which I did first & if it worked immediately afterwards...]
I wasnt using it much for a while (so it could be the fault of something completely different), when I tried to restart it gets as far as "initialising icc engine" then i get the needs to close & contact microsoft window which shows the info but doesnt let you copy it (damn ms) does say [I've added the number of noughts]:
I tried uninstalling & reinstalling - it hasn't helped - exactly same problem
the 5.5 readme file says:
Quote:
Adobe Photoshop software's initialization file (photos55.ini) is located in the Adobe Photoshop 5.5 Settings folder under the directory where Photoshop is installed. The preferences file (Adobe Photoshop 5.5 Prefs.PSP) is also located in the same Prefs directory. the preferences file doesnt exist - prob cause I uninstalled/reinstalled & the programme hasnt started since
I have a mac OS X 10.8.2 and my CS5 has always worked but now will not open. The only thing different on my computer is the removal of the Java application.
i went to install CS9(.2,i think) on my laptop the other day and it installed fine, but when you start it the program freezes. when launched ,it fills in all the boxes etc and looks ready to go,but as soon as you try to do anything eg click on anything, the boxes all grey out and it freezes completely,so you cant do anything with it.
have tried reinstalling and exactly the same thing happened, yet it worked perfecrtly on another different laptop.i changed screen resolution and checked direct-x was up to date, with no joy.
2 hours not being able to do any work cause my new photoshop CC isnt working! I opened Illustrator fine and PS CS5 opens fine its just the CC CS6 that isnt opening.
I am able to use premiere pro and after effect but cannot get either illustrator or photoshop cs6 or cc to work.information that I get at start up is problem signature:
running on a PC windows 7 with 16 meg of ram and 6 core processor, had previously had CS 5 mater edition running fine. cleaned it off the system and now cannot for the life of me get cs6 or cc to work.
Photoshop cc started to ask me to sign in before starting the program, but, when i'm sure my email and password is correct and my internet connection is on, it can't seem to sign in, no matter how much i clicked 'sign in' it won't sign in. it's says that i need to connect to the internet, but i'm already connected. in the end photoshop won't start up.
After installing Creative Suite CS 3, I immediately encountered the following error when I tried to launch it:
Unable to Locate Component This application failed to start because OPENGL32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
I installed it from my windows XP disk into the correct system32 directory and I am still having problems. I read that you must register the dll before it can work and I received an error message.
I installed 4 or 5 Microsft hotfixes in a row the other day. Since, photoshop 7 doesn't start up. I went to the control panel to uninstall the last new hotfixes, but each time I get the dialog box telling me that if I uninstall the KB840315 then Internet Explorer and Outlook Express might not work. For the moment I can work on a different computer, but not for long.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled photoshop on different disks. Still the same.
I keep getting an application has moved message when starting Photo Shop CS6I have attached a screen grab of the message here. what I need to do to keep it from happening each time I start up CS6?
My OS is OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.4I start up CS6 from my normal location which is the CS6 icon that resides in my dock.if I select the update button, it has no effect, the application still gives me the same message each time I start up.
I am currently using Adobe CS3 Design Premium with Windows XP Pro as the operating system. The computer is a self build and has 2GB of RAM, 450GB of onboard HD storage and 6x500GB of external HD storage.
As a photographer I frequently end up with anything between a 100 and 300 RAW images after a days work and convert them to DNG, Tif and JPEG files.
With CS2 I ran an action which opened the image in Camera RAW which then enabled me to make adjustments before opening the image in Photoshop and completing the other elements of the action. Since upgrading to CS3 I have been unable to create a similar action and having read the "knowledge based" information and looked through the topics in the forum have failed to find anything that is of help. As each image and the conditions under which it has been taken differ it is quite important to make corrections in Camera RAW before completing the action in Photoshop and fixed settings applied by Camera RAW would be inappropriate.
It is always possible that I am making a fundamental error in writing the action but given my previous experience it seems unlikely. Incidentally I usually bring up the images in Bridge and then select the best images to process and start the action from Bridge.
When our photographer browses his folders with pictures and double clicks upon one of them (jpg-files always), his Photoshop (he uses CS3 and Windows NT) always opens up the file only shoving it as 16,3% size (or such, I can't remember the exact number) As a result the picture hardly fills 1/4 or 1/8 of the available space in the Photoshop screen, and he always has to click the picture larger before being able to work in it. He has recently got a new - and more powerful - computer, and he did not have the same problem when using the old computer, here his files always opened to the maximum possible size.
I have a SEND TO set up in win7pro 64bit. This works fine for Photoshop css 5, but with Elements 11. the editor starts but the image is not loaded.OPEN WITH works fine.
I just purchased and installed Adobe Photoshop Element 11 & Adobe Premiere Element 11 from DVD. Installation was smooth but freezing computer on starting any of them. I forced shutdown my computer and tried more than 10 times and same issue.
I noticed that if i draw a very short line (about 10 pixels or less) then cursor shifts back to starting point.
Tested on systems an drivers: Mac OS X 10.6.4 or 10.7.4 Driver 6.3.0 or 6.3.3-3 Photoshop CS 5 (12.0.4) Photoshop CS 5.5 (12.1) Mac OS X 10.8.2, Driver 6.3.3-3 and Photoshop 6 (13.0.1) - same problem.
I have three Intuos 5 tablets for now and all have this bug so this is not a hardware problem i think. Corel Painter 12 - all good.
elements11 always crashes when starting photomerge panorama. i had the same problem in elements 10. thought in the new version it will be ok. failed. i am using win7 with 16 gb
I installed Photoshop Elements 12 a couple of weeks ago. When I run the Photo Editor, everything is fine. But when I try to run the Organizer, I get the Microsoft Visuall C++ Runtime Library dialog that specifies a Runtime Error! for Program: C:Program Files (x86)... with error code R6025 - pure virtual function call.
Having cleared cookies/cleared history in safari. Tried firefox, still does not work. Opening Photoshop after downloading from creative cloud still does not work.
Message reads "Error Starting Creative cloud" cookies dir: cannot make folder/ cookies: Permission denied. (error 13).
I'm just starting out with trying to implement BOM's in inventor. Basically at the moment cutting list are hand written to be passed on for manufacture. I mainly create drawings for welded ladder assemblies out of Aluminium. I have currently been placing multiple solid bodies in one .ipt file. I'm struggling to pull the info I'd like out of this file into my BOM in the .dwg file.To start with I'm only looking for basic info such as:
-material section -cut length -cut angle -Qty of each individual item.
I have a Render message that reads in red type "FTL: Virtual device creation failed." And I'm unable to click out of the message box, or click OK or cancel. Nothing happens. There seems to be a problem with my screen as well, it holds onto prior open windows and I'm unable to have a fresh window in Max. Does any of this have anything to do with os Windows 7 Home Premium vs. Pro or Ultimate? Even some of the tasks in Max don't seem to be initializing. For example, I tried to Manage>Set up Project and clicked on file in Windows 7 Home Premium and nothing happens.
