I'm new to After Effects and struggling just a bit. I tried searching this forum but found no obvious reference to my question. I have figured out how 3d Tracking works for a single object, but don't know how to handle multiple tracked objects on the same video clip. How do I go about tracking more than one object or Text Object in the same clip?

I'm starting to get into video compositing a bit and I was wondering what your opinions are on the best program to use - 3ds Max or After Effects? Basically I'm shooting some live footage, solving for the camera motion in PFTrack, and I want to composite 3D objects/effects into my scene. Of course all of my modeling and animating will have to be done in Max, but which is the better program to use for actually Compositing it all together? Is it better to import the camera track into Max, set up the whole scene with lighting and cameras and everything, set the environment background as the original footage, and render it all in one shot? Or is it better to just render the models as an image sequence in Max (with alpha channel) and actually put the layers together in After Effects?
So far I've done a few test shots in 3ds Max alone, but it seems like most people prefer to composite in After Effects. What are the advantages/ disadvantages to each? It would be great to hear from people who have actually done this before.
I would like to paint on a clip I generated from a still. Now I can´t use the OnionSkins and if I paint my brushstroke ,is on the whole clip not only the first frame.

I'm trying to get back into making youtube videos and I am running into an issue. I have an Hauppauge HD PVR 2 gaming edition. Now one of the features that makes it easier for commentators like me is the ability to have all of the audio channels [game, mic, PC (aka skype chat)] all on seperate "layers" that way you can go into your video/audio editor and have the different audios so you can tweak them individually.
The problem that I have and wondering about is this, is there a way to import the files and have the different audio tracks be seperate? The files that they come in are either .ts [raw] or .mp4 [in program compression]. I would like to keep it in .ts even though its a bigger file as I like my compression style after I've edited that gives the best look without loss when uploading to youtube.
I have see the free program at any-video-converter.com mentioned, but the issue is last time I used it I somehow ended up with a virus. I also have handbrake, the Master collection cs 5.5, and VLC.

I'm trying to make a very simple 20 second video clip of me hula hooping, and every 4 seconds, draw a circle around my hula hoop that remains there for the duration of the video. So at the beginning there will be 1 circle, at the end there will be 6. how to make one of these circles visible at a time. I've been googling and youtubing for the the past 2 hours.

However, the mtext entity always moves position slightly (compared to the original text entity) after converting the object. better lisp that converts multiple text entities into mtext entities (which are all separate still, i.e. not joined together) without the position of the entity changing?
I need to connect to specific instances of AutoCAD and Plant3D. The Running Object Table (ROT) only holds one instance so GetObject wont work.
I've tried getting the correct instance using the hwnd with the AccessibleObjectFromWindow function. I'am thinking the easiest way is to autoload a plugin to communicate with, maybe through a service.
If I have a list of handles for Autocad Entities, how would I go about selecting these entities on screen so that the user could add to this selection or remove objects from the selection? I could go with object ids as well if needed.
I have been searching and searching and coming up empty handed or at least coming up with information that doesn't seem to do what I want.
I have one of the older 32 bit Maxes and wonder if the new 64 bit Maxes offer an improvement for speed when working with thousands of objects in a scene?

I using a raid 5 for my video editing work, and two 1TB drive setup as raid 1 mirror where my photos are located. I am down to my last 325 GB that may sould a lot but I am planning on really taking off with my picture taking. I have a NAS were I also have my photos backed up. I have not added my photos to Lightroom catalog. I also have Photoshop. I understand it is better to have the photos located on the computer instead of external. How dose Lightroom handle photos on multiple drives?Should I separate the two 1TB drives so I have two 2TB available and if so were to place lightroom Catalog folder? Or should I make it easy on myself and just purchase a 2TB drives and place all the photos at that location?

The photos are not stellar and I need to change levels, exposure, saturation etc to each image. I was creating groups from layers for each image then dropping it onto the montage file, but I see that filters effect every layer below.
I have a gradient layer as my background and I don't want it affected nor do I want every layer below affected. I created smart layers from each image, that works, but it really slows the system down. What is the smartest and most efficient way to handle this?
Messing around with MAP in Civil3d 2011, creating object data for sanitary sewer manholes, how do you handle object data for inverts since there could be multiple depths and directions. Whats the best way to set it up? And what kind of addtional info should there be. And when I connect to a shp file, how do you label with multiple lines, I seem to only be able to select 1 feature to label. When zoomed out would like to view structure name and when zoomed in view name, rim elevation, invert elevations.

For example: Around 0:04 in this video [URL].... the guy smashes into the wall and it collapse. The wall is obviously recreated in 3ds max. But how did they make it so realistic? How did they take the texture from the wall and applied it onto an object?
Working with a 1080p/60fps mp4 file from my GoPro 3. Trying to save a trimmed clip using "same as first video clip" option. Everything seems to work fine but the saved clip plays for a second and then the video freezes but the audio continues. This happens playing the clip with WMP and VSx6. The original untrimmed mp4 plays fine.

I would like the drop shadow only to appear on the bottom layer, at present it drops some of the shadow into what is empty space

The text starts half way up the disk and reaches above it, I want to get rid of the drop shadow that is above the disk.

I recently purchased Video Studio Pro X3 - and after going through the knowledge base and product read me, I have been unable to find an answer to the following problem I have:
PROBLEM:
I have a number of videos (HD 1080p) that I have recorded. Each video is on average 50 minutes in length - what I want to do it to be able to do is to slice this video into 10 x 5 minute videos (based on topics discussed in the video), (so essentially clip the video into these segments and edit each one) and then when producing the video file - actually create 10 separate video files (all with editing in place) instead of one single large file.
As far as I have been able to work out, I need to go through the whole file, clip relevant sections, edit them, and then save project. I then need to go trim the saved file 10 times, to extract each time the single 5 minute video I want to create. This is a fairly manual and time consuming process, hence my hope that I can create 10 files based on the clips I have made in the larger 50 minute file in one go.

After a lot of fiddling about (VideoStudio didn't recognize my camcorder) I was able to see my video clips in VideoStudio by placing my memory card in an external card reader. Whilst all the clips appear, VideoStudio informs me that there are no valid video clips.

Footage filmed with a panasonic cam, using Pro 6, when I hit share tab - create video file - I have many choices but I would like to save it as high format as the original, so do I hit , (Same as First Video Clip) or (AVCHD) both are nearly the same I'm guessing, I've saved in both formats and both ended up been the same size. What one I should save to ? I have added the properties of the original file.

However regardless of what I used, the wind was so bad that day the video footage was useless.I figured that would be the case the day I was shooting so I took out my Sony still camera and shot a series of still shots panned.I now need to take those still shots and make it appear as though it is video panning from the sign to the building. I then can lead that into a video that did come out good of the front of the building.In VSX4, ?I have done similar before by trimming the time and adding crossover, but it just does not look "good".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have never had this problem before, so maybe this is a problem exclusive to NewBlue Effects. I thought that when I used VideoStudio to create effects for a clip (let's say it's 1 minute in length) and after split the clip into two 30 sec clips, that my effects work would be maintained and also split between the clips.
But when I tried this with NewBlue Color Fixer, the first 30 sec clip looked correct. My keyframes were just as I had set them. But the second clip had lost all it's keyframes and in fact was totally in B&W. I couldn't fix this by adding keyframes to the second clip or anything adjustment at all. The only solution was to delete the Color Fixer effect from this second clip, and then redo the effects work.
Is this normal? What assurance is granted by VideoStudio "effects" such that clips can later be split and have this work retained? Otherwise, it should be clear that no one should use these effects until the very end, when all clips have been sized.
Trying to finish up first video project shot with 5D MK11 in 1080p.
I had to convert all clips to smart objects it seems to adjust highlights.
I had rendered the project once to 1080P but forgot part of one clip and dragged it into PS.
It is the exact same size but is not positioned correctly and I lose part of the right edge.
I thought it would fix itself with rendering it to 1080P as the image and canvas size are identical and from the same shoot--but it didn't.I hit "fit in screen" or actual pixels but not sure that matters.
