VideoStudio :: Split Single Video File Into Multiple Video Files?

Feb 13, 2011

I recently purchased Video Studio Pro X3 - and after going through the knowledge base and product read me, I have been unable to find an answer to the following problem I have:

PROBLEM:

I have a number of videos (HD 1080p) that I have recorded. Each video is on average 50 minutes in length - what I want to do it to be able to do is to slice this video into 10 x 5 minute videos (based on topics discussed in the video), (so essentially clip the video into these segments and edit each one) and then when producing the video file - actually create 10 separate video files (all with editing in place) instead of one single large file.

As far as I have been able to work out, I need to go through the whole file, clip relevant sections, edit them, and then save project. I then need to go trim the saved file 10 times, to extract each time the single 5 minute video I want to create. This is a fairly manual and time consuming process, hence my hope that I can create 10 files based on the clips I have made in the larger 50 minute file in one go.

as I have 30 videos to edit, so looking for ways to save time!

VideoStudio :: Split Large Video File

Nov 3, 2010

I captured approximately 1 hour DV file contained different scenes from different places. Now, I would like split this file for smaller parts and save them as a separate .avi files.

Is this possible to do this by VSX3 (e.g. cut or multitrim on timeline and save to separate folder each pieces?

If X3 cannot do this, what software you can recommend for relatively easy and quick multi-split, without loose quality?

VideoStudio :: Audio Lost When Split A Video File

Dec 11, 2011

I have been using Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 recently. I split a number of video files on a daily basis. This is what I do:

I take an Avi file that has a duration of about 30 minutes. I drag and drop the video into the "video track" area in the program.

Then I use the little "slider" thing and drag it to 15 minutes and click on the "scissors" symbol. which results in making the video split into 2 parts.

I delete the first part on the "video track" are and then I click on "share"-->"create video file"-->"custom"-->I choose Avi .

The compression I choose is Xvid Mpeg-4, 24 Bit RGB, and the Audio Format is Mpeg Layer 3, 8 Bits, 11.025 Hz Mono

The resulting video does not have any sound . This does not happen if I delete the 2nd part and create the video file with the first 15 minutes only. This happens with almost all of my videos (all of them are avi).

VideoStudio :: Split Video Post-processing

Feb 13, 2013

I often work in big files, such as 200 GB size files that usually contains 4-5 hours of recording. I make web series and require my videos to by like 15-20 minutes long. So far I've been taking these huge files, cropping them down to length and then waiting the compress, however this is a very bad method and very time consuming, because after I crop a video that fits the 15-20 minutes limit, I have to wait for it to compress completely before I can continue to work on the next one, which basically means, that even though it takes like 5-10 minutes to edit a video it takes more like an hour per episode because I need to stop and wait before I can work on the next episode.

Is there a way to queue up a ton of pre-edited projects and then make it all compress to seperate video files during the night or something? It would really save me a lot of effort.

Photoshop Elements :: Split Video Files On PS8?

Mar 6, 2011

I was recently trying to RECONNECT some files on my catalogs when I noticed I couldn't reconnect a couple of video files. The files were .WMV and when I looked at the thumbnail, I noticed that there where two thumbnails "stacked" with the same file name, but different lenghts of time. I found the original video file using explorer and noticed that the original file is as long as the two "thumbnails" put together. Now, it won't reconnect the thumbnails to the video file. Why did it "split" the video file in the first place? How could I reconnect it?

VideoStudio :: Single Frame For Whole Video

Feb 21, 2013

I have an MP3 sound file which I'd like to put on Vimeo.

I think you have to do this as a video, so my idea is to use it as a soundtrack for a video that has just one constant frame as the image.

I can add a single frame to the timeline and add the sound obviously but how do I make that one frame be the single image of the whole video (which is about four minutes long)?

VideoStudio :: How Much Video Can Fit Into Single Layer DVD-R

I can click 'OK' to let VS X6 adjust the video (quality) and fit it into a DVD. But I'm curious why VS X6 always complains about video longer than 60 minutes while on the internet most people (including Microsoft) said 120-150 minutes for a single layer DVD?

VideoStudio :: How To Select Multiple Video Clips

Nov 3, 2013

First time creating a project and capturing digital (.mts) clips from digital media. I used to have a MiniDV camera which I found easy to 'capture' from.I recorded to SDHC memory card which I then copied (all folders and files) to a hard drive.I am using VS X6.

Method I used -Click on CAPTURE > IMPORT FROM DIGITAL MEDIA / Navigate to the folder where all the digital video clips are (PRIVATE/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAMClick START It takes a very long time for all video clips to be 'read' and 'thumbnails' displayed.

Now comes the problem.I want to select the FIRST 100 clips.I note that to select as clip to import I need to click the top left corner of a clip (and a tick appears) BUT I don't want to have to click on 900 thumbnails.I tried clicking on the first thumbnail then holding down the SHIFT key then clicking on the last thumbnail - didn't work.Tried the same holding down the CTRL key - didn't work.

VideoStudio :: Combining Multiple Video Sources (transitions)

Jul 14, 2012

I have two videos of the same event that I would like to switch between. There is audio to sync to the video as well.

What I wanted to do was:
1) Put the main video in the main video track
2) Put the audio in the music track and aling with the main video
3) Put the secondary video in the overlay track. Align it with the audio and set the overlay to cover the entire screen.
4) Cut out most of the overlay video (spit the clip into sections and delete most of them).

That worked as far as it went -- the main video shows, interspersed with the secondary video, and everything is aligned with the audio. The problem is that the change between video perspectives is quite aburpt, but I cannot figure out how to make the transitions be seamless.

I added transitions to the beginning and end of each small clip on the overlay panel, but that didn't really make things seamless, particularly at the end of the clip -- there isn't anything to cross cut to, and if it fades to black then the main video pops up immediately when the overlay clip ends.

I tried splitting the video in the main track at the spot where the overlay comes in and adding a transition to the end of it; no matter what i try with the ripple settings, that throws the audio out of sync when the overlay is finished. I also tried deleting that section in the video track and moving the video from the overlay track into the video track; that was difficult enough to make sure that the sections were exactly the same length, but then I still have the problem with the transition lengthening the clip and throwing off the audio. I guess I could somehow figure out how to trim exactly the right amount of time from the clip I am inserting to solve that problem. Really, I guess I'd have to do that twice -- once for each transition -- because if otherwise the audio would be off in the clip being inserted. So I need to trim 1 second (or whatever) from the beginning; split it somewhere, and then trim 1 second from the end.

VideoStudio :: Creating Video Files

May 10, 2012

I am interested in saving my projects for both uploading to the web and for storing on my hard drive. I'm having some issues

I get by ok with the actual editing part of the VS 4 program. However, I am really struggling to figure out how to create the files in the most efficient format that would balance both quality/file size. I use two HD cams that record in the mp-4 format with h.264 compression 29.97fps. One is a Sanyo Xacti, the other A Kodak Playful. I like to record with the 720p/30 setting, and would prefer to retain the same frame resolution when I create the finished projects. Also these cams record at a rate of about 9000 kbps or so, but would like the finished project to be reduced to about half of that or maybe even less.

OK, so to this point I have experimented in saving my finished project to several different formats. And based on my first impressions, the AVI format looks best (when selecting ffd show and h264 compression). Only there's a problem...the audio is out of sync. About 1-2 seconds ahead of the video I have tried several times always with the same result. If I instead select xvid or h263 or h263+ as an alternative to h264, then everything seems fine. I have also tried creating a movie template with these parameters, as well as just going into the create custom file option and selecting AVI. Can't seem to solve the audio-video sync with h264 as the compression, no matter what I try.

Oh, and now that I've mentioned "Creating Movie Templates" I have another question dedicated just to that.

Why is it that when I save my project using my newly created template, the result is that I end up with several short saved files (portions of the complete project) instead of one single and complete file of my project? Have tried with both an AVI template in h264, as well as a WMV template. Doesn't happen when I don't use a template.

VideoStudio :: Thumbnails Disappearing With Video Files

Mar 24, 2013

I've been looking for a solution casually for about a year to this, maybe I'm just stupid! When I import all my videos from my camera and put them into appropriate folders they make thumbnails for the files. Unfortunetely when I close down my computer and come back, they have disppeared. This is a pain because, it makes a large amount of files easy to work with as you have some idea what's contained from a thumbnail! Now initially I just thought it was my computers age (not that old) but I have a Dell XPS i7 Laptop also and it's the same story!

I shoot high quality 1080i .mts files so I'm sure they are a resource suck! Is it because the computer doesn't have the power in the RAM to remember all these files? I would of thought, once a thumbnail is made it's just like a JPEG and not changing ever in real time? Is there something I've turned off on my computer, telling it not to remember thumbnails?

For each file I would ideally like to track information such as: date/time taken, location, names of people, event, DVD volume lable. Thumbnails would be nice as well. I imagine some form of database which I can search for content and know which DVD/CD volume to load. Most product I have seen so far assume that the whole data library is on local disk, and doesn't handle the data being on removable media. If there is software does tracks media files but not on removeable media I will still be interested.
