VideoStudio :: How Much Video Can Fit Into Single Layer DVD-R
Aug 8, 2013
When I try to make DVD with VideoStudio X6, I always got the out of size warning when I have more than 60 minutes of video. I can click 'OK' to let VS X6 adjust the video (quality) and fit it into a DVD. But I'm curious why VS X6 always complains about video longer than 60 minutes while on the internet most people (including Microsoft) said 120-150 minutes for a single layer DVD?
I recently purchased Video Studio Pro X3 - and after going through the knowledge base and product read me, I have been unable to find an answer to the following problem I have:
PROBLEM:
I have a number of videos (HD 1080p) that I have recorded. Each video is on average 50 minutes in length - what I want to do it to be able to do is to slice this video into 10 x 5 minute videos (based on topics discussed in the video), (so essentially clip the video into these segments and edit each one) and then when producing the video file - actually create 10 separate video files (all with editing in place) instead of one single large file.
As far as I have been able to work out, I need to go through the whole file, clip relevant sections, edit them, and then save project. I then need to go trim the saved file 10 times, to extract each time the single 5 minute video I want to create. This is a fairly manual and time consuming process, hence my hope that I can create 10 files based on the clips I have made in the larger 50 minute file in one go.
as I have 30 videos to edit, so looking for ways to save time!
I have a LIVE show recorded and I want to add Video Filters in various places within a single 4 minute video. Do I need to cut up my video to segments to add filters too or can I apply them to different spots in a single video?
I have an MP3 sound file which I'd like to put on Vimeo.
I think you have to do this as a video, so my idea is to use it as a soundtrack for a video that has just one constant frame as the image.
I can add a single frame to the timeline and add the sound obviously but how do I make that one frame be the single image of the whole video (which is about four minutes long)?
I am really new to video Studio Pro X4. How can I isolate a single cell (frame) of a video clip and export it or save it as JPG or BMP or some other graphics format for use as a pic in another application. i.e. photosho, paint shop, Corel Draw, etc.
Check out the first 45 seconds of this video to get an idea of what I'm asking about:
I'd like to do as she did when listing off the items that will be needed. Rather than stringing video clips together of each item by itself, I want it to have the same look--to have each item appear one after the other. To me, it looks like each clip of each item was layered on top of the original video of the first pair of leggings.
Why can't I align a single layer that is inside a layer group? The align tool would always select the top most layer group as the 'boundary' for alignment, thus automatically selecting the whole layers inside of it and align them as a group.
Is this a bug or just GIMP's weakness? It definitely reduces the layer group's usefulness.
It was the "Creating Classy Glass Buttons" one. One of the steps says to flip the layer vertically. I can't quite figure out how to do that. It always wants to flip the whole thing.
In building a composite, I dragged one image into another image. Of couse, this created a separate layer in the receiving image. Since I then discovered that the color saturation needed to be lowered ONLY ON THE "DRAGGED IN IMAGE," I then clicked on Hue/Sat and began the desturation process. But even though I had selected the "Dragged In" layer, all of the lower layers were also desaturated. So my question is: Is there a way to use Hue/Sat on a single, selected layer? How can I keep the other layers from being affected by the hue/sat operation. Of course, I could have done the desaturation before I dragged it into the other image, but it was only after dragging it in that i could really match the colors properly.
How do i shrink a single layer. I was copying a picture into my psd file and i needed to shrink it so it looks good with the other things in my picture.
I've created a picture with a layer of lava underneath a stone wall which is visible through some of the cracks in the stone. I'm looking to use the rippling animation on ONLY the lava layer while keeping the rest of the layers, i.e. shadows, drop shadow, background, etc. in tact.
Is this possible? I tried several different ways but couldn't make it work. So in other words, I'm only trying to animate only one layer.
I design wedding albums in a third party software which then exports each page spread as a layered PSD. I then like to go in and "polish" each page spread by adding vignettes or other enhancements to each image. Some very simple actions I have no problem with getting to work, however, I can't figure out how to make an action that will run on just the image I have selected and add a vignette to just that image regardless of the image size and shape. I have an action that will do this on a single non layered image but it won't work if the image is in a layered PSD because it tries to add a vignette to the entire document and of course runs into problems. Can anyone help me with creating an action that would add a vignette to a single image in a layered document?
I'm desiging a banner for a website and a big concern of mine is that the sidebar should fade into the black default background of the website.
It's a single layer, the image is 32 x 346 pixels and I'd like to know how to blend the bottom quarter or so of the multicolor sidebar to the default black.
i have photoshop project containing several groups with also groups in it. is it possible to create an adjustment layer just for one single group? cant figure it out
I want to do for X plane 10. As x plane uses only a single texture per object i need to create a texture which would contain all faces of a building e.g. the roof / front / back etc.. , i tried one by making a 1024x1024 area and imported the other images and saved them as a single jpg. but the texture is not showing up.
In illustrator i design some artwork and now the total layers are about several hundreads. so now i'm about to combine all those artowrk layers in one layer, so that it will be a nice clean file with text layers that are to edit and one single artwork background layer.
I have just been updated to CC at work and I am having all sorts of issues. But the two main pressing ones are:
1. When I save, it keeps "not responding". Sometimes it crashes, sometimes it doesn't. When it does, I lose everything. It takes anywhere from 1 - 5 minutes to save. I thought it was an issue with a large file, but it does it to me in a one page file with only one photo in it as well.
2. Layers. This is the killer right here. Again, I thought this was a capatability issue when using old files, but it has proved me wrong. As I create layers and new artwork, it works fine. However, once I save and re-open the file, all the artwork has been combined to a single layer and then I have to dig it all out to do anything to it, only to have it do the same thing the next time I repoen the file.
Is it me? Is it default settings somewhere in CC? I have major deadlines that I think I am going to miss if things keep continueing the way they are.
System Specs: Illustrator CC 16.0.3 (Tried to update to 17 and it said everything was up to date, twice) Windows 7 Dell Optiplex 7010 with Core i7 and brand new AMD video card.
I have a large image, and want to use the new generator feature to automatically extract two specific areas of this image (which is on a single layer) to two separate files.
Simple enough to do the first, using a layer mask, and works beautifully. But I can't work out how to do another, without copying the main image layer.
I would like to add an adjustment layer to a photoshop CS2 file that has an effect on a particular layer rather than all of the layers. I have tried adding the adjustment layer from the icon at the bottom of the layers palette, from Layers, New adjustment layer, and I have also tried linking the two layers. In all cases the adjustment made applies to the whole image. I am sure that previous versions of Photoshop had this facility.
Up until now, I've been using Paint.NET as my main paint program. It worked well enough but had a few specific limitations that forced me to request the company I work for to purchase Photoshop CS2, which they did. In fact, the IT dept just finished installing it.
I'd like to have a single text layer with multiple instances of text, but everytime I go to add additional text, CS2 "conveniently" creates a new layer for me. Is there any way to tell CS2 to "Stop that!" and let me create as many individual instances of text on one layer as I want? I am labeling buildings/roadways on aerial photos and don't need to have 40-50 text layers per photo.
I have 2 layers, a background image and a round button with a shadow effect.
How can I only export the button, including his shadow, to png ?
I used Photo Impact, and in Photo Impact, I clicked on the layer, I selected "Export object" and the layer (object) was saved to a desired filename (in my case, I want png or tga, with transparency) .
Also, if I have a background layer, a button layer and a text over the button. If I select the button and the text, how can I export them to png (merge them and export them) directly ? Exactly like the case above, but with multiple players.
How do I create multiple lines of text in a single layer. Everytime I finish with a line and want to go to the next, I hit 'Enter', but that completes the text. If I click on the layer image again, then it creates another layer.
So basically if I have 10 lines of text, I end up with 10 layers of text as well. Needless to say, this becomes to much trouble if I have to center each line of text and add blending options to 10 layers instead of one.
I want to know if there is a command that passes all entities (lines, text, etc.) to a single layer, but that the institution holds the color and line style assigned according to the original layer that contained it.
I'm working on a drawing and I need to take multiple layers that I have drawn (which make up one unit) and basically merge them together so that I can replicate and move them about and place them where they need to go in the larger unit that they live in.
I tried playing with grouping in the Layers Manager, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. Not sure if I'm just doing something wrong, or if there is another way to go about this.
I'm attaching my CAD drawing so you can see what I'm up to. In this drawing, there are basically two groups of layers. Those that make up the Control Tower itself, and another group for what's called a Tajimi Rack. I need to have all the layers for the Tajimi Rack made as one so that I can move that object around without having to move the layers one at a time. (There is a lot more that needs to drawn into the Tajimi Rack, but once I know how to merge them all together, I'll be in a good position to carry forward.)
I also need to know how to then take that new Tajimi Rack layer and duplicate it (I'm looking to place about a dozen of the Tajimi Racks in the control tower.
FWIW, I'm a self taught CADer. By that I mean I have to use CAD in my job but it's always done in a 2D setting where I'm simply looking through roofs with other drawings laid under for rigging purposes. This drawing things in 3D concept is something I'm just making up as I go along. 5PTS Control Tower.dwg
I've lost the layer box in single window mode. I can get it back if I re-install, but I do not want to loose and the added scripts. How does one get it to load back into the window. (running mac).
In the context of an animated GIF, or any other context where I have a multilayer image, I would like to see a single one all by itself. How do I do that?
I'm new in scripting and i need to make a script that moving all layers into a single layer (in Illustrator i press CTRL+A then CTRL+G in layers and works) but i need that in script.
I'm seeing random occurrences of single all-red frames in my output. They seem to occur in the middle of a clip.
My clips are AVCHD (HDV captures from a Sony HDR-FX7 via Firewire using HDVSplit). I'm outputting them to "HDV 720p - 30p (for PC)". Total edited projects are 9-10 minutes each and I'm seeing 2-3 of these "red frames" per output file.
I'd like to know if it's possible, and if so, how to do it..... in X5, to insert multiple images into their own single frames, at one time. Say I have images 1.jpg - 250.jpg, and I want all to be loaded into single frames... for an animation.
