VideoStudio :: Convert Recorded MP4 Video Files To DVD
Dec 14, 2010
I would like to convert my recorded mp4 videofiles with Corel Videostudio X3 to for example a DVD. The mp4 file is from a Sony DSC-H5 photocamera. It is HD quality not 1920 but i believe 1440 or something like that. What are the best settings to convert the mp4 to DVD without losing quality?

I am new to VSP X5. I want to edit a music video that I recorded live. The live recording of the music was fine but I need to cut and paste new video clips in certain part of the songs in the video timeline. I split the audio from the video.
I am having a hard time trying to sync the audio because every time I cut the video clip, the video keeps snapping back, making audio out of sync. Also, when adding transitions, video clips automatic shrink. I tried enable ripple, video still snap back. Is there a setting in the preference?

As the title says.. if I have a video, say for instance MPEG-4 1920x1080, rendered by Videostudio, and I multitrim it, then render it again using the 'Same Settings as First Clip' setting - is the video re-coded, or do I maintain original quality and the different parts are just effectively joined together?

I have been copying a number of pre-recorded video clips onto a DVD-R disc and playing them on my DVD recorder. As my Panasonic DMR-XW380 DVD recorder only plays DivX or XviD video files I have to convert the files I have to this format.
We have a Sony Bravia 40" TV and I was wondering about the best settings I should use for the Frame Resolution and bitrate etc. When I render anything to DivX with VS I use a Frame Resolution of 720 x 576 and a bitrate of 56kbps and this seems to play okay in my setup. Do you think these settings could be improved?

Is there anyway to convert the video to 4:3. When I save it 4:3 file it doesn't cut it down. It makes the video look back. Can I cut the outside edges to make the video 4:3?

I recently purchased Video Studio Pro X3 - and after going through the knowledge base and product read me, I have been unable to find an answer to the following problem I have:
PROBLEM:
I have a number of videos (HD 1080p) that I have recorded. Each video is on average 50 minutes in length - what I want to do it to be able to do is to slice this video into 10 x 5 minute videos (based on topics discussed in the video), (so essentially clip the video into these segments and edit each one) and then when producing the video file - actually create 10 separate video files (all with editing in place) instead of one single large file.
As far as I have been able to work out, I need to go through the whole file, clip relevant sections, edit them, and then save project. I then need to go trim the saved file 10 times, to extract each time the single 5 minute video I want to create. This is a fairly manual and time consuming process, hence my hope that I can create 10 files based on the clips I have made in the larger 50 minute file in one go.
as I have 30 videos to edit, so looking for ways to save time!

I have been using VS11But, I have just bought a new camera, a Panasonic HC V500. A small section of the info on the camera are the following lines:- 2D-to-3D Conversion. The camera processing engine automatically converts your 2D footage to 3D without the need for the optional 3D lens, to then be able to view on your 3D TV for an enhanced viewing experience.
Progressive Video Format for Smooth Action. The Full HD format employed in this model uses 1080/50p (AVCHD Progressive compliant) imaging. The Progressive format carries roughly double the image information of a 1080i interlace signal, minimising flickering and after-images.
As I edit and convert all my video footage into movies, will the latest VS programme retain the 3D conversion ability/facility, if so, what is the latest (or best) VS edition to purchase.

Is there any way that i can convert a video into the jpg format using Video Studio 10+ or Photo Impact 11 ?
( that is apart from the " save as image " in Studio) Like a batch convert job.
Or perhaps a freebie converter out there.

Trying to convert video footage on VHS video to AVI files which I can burn to DVD disc. I bought EasyCap and installed it along with Ulead Video Studio. The program seems to be running OK, the device appears to have been installed OK. I connected the VHS recorder to the Easy Cap device with the Scart to RCS lead supplied with it. When I go to capture video, nothing happens, apart from the clock starting. The screen remains blank and no video is recorded.

I edit an mp4 video and produce a new mp4 video. If I produce the new mp4 while I open the project, the screen size is normal. (c_not_use_batch.jpg) If I produce the new file using batch convert, the screen size is reduced (c_use_batch.jpg) However, the setting for producing the files are the same (c_setting.jpg)
The files and settings are the same. The only difference is using batch convert or not.
This happens to Video Studio Pro X3 and X5.

I have a DVD that was made from transferring a VHS PAL tape to a DVD. I can't see how to input the contents into VSProX4.
I downloaded Wondershare and that was easy to use to create an input file and I used VSProX4 to edit the file and make a 2 minute clip which I put on Youtube. The problem is with that the Watermark "Wondershare" is shown on the clip. I assume I need to spend $50 to buy a copy of Wondershare to not have the Watermark.
I tried a download of Handbrake. That created M4V files but it doesn't seem as though those files are compatible with VSProX4.
It would seem to me a basic requirement for a Video Editor to pull in a video from an existing DVD. I didn't think I would need to look for a program to RIP the DVD. What am I overlooking??
On the DVD there are 7 files. 2 *.BUP files, 2 *.IFO files and 3 *.VOB files. With either of the two programs I used above to RIP the DVD I think I saw 17 or 19 chapters.

I would like to know how many MINUTES (approx) of video recorded in highest quality 1080/50p video on a 32Gb SDHC memory card.
I have found a web site which suggests that 5 hours 20 minutes can be recorded with the camera's in built memory (32Gb) yet only 2 hours 40 minutes on a 32Gb SDHC memory card. I cannot understand why the inbuilt memory can store more than twice as much as on an equivalent size SDHC card.

What I am proposing to do is this: I have been asked to do the video for a friend's wedding. I would like to use a seperate audio recorder to record the audio of the wedding while I do the video on my camcorder. Then import the seperate audio track into VS X4 and sync it up with the video. The reason I am going to this extra trouble is that the built-in microphones on my camcorder are not that great unless I am "up close and personal" with the subject of the video. I have tried a short clip using an old MP3 player that records mono sound files and it appears to work well for the short video clip. What about with a longer clip, say up to an hour? If so, were there any problems keeping the video and audio tracks in sync?

I have recorded my bowling action (the English game of cricket, where you throw/bowl the ball the the batsmen). It was recorded side on to my run up. I wanted to measure my speed, so I thought, using 2 consecutive frames from movie maker, giving a time of 0.04 sec. Then using Pixlr(free photoshop), overlap the two frames, and measure the pixel distance the ball has traveled. Then I use the diameter of the ball (known) to measure how much distance each pixel is in real life. Then I calculate speed.
This should be accurate, with the only uncertainty coming from the pixel measurements. The results so far have me questioning if there are other factors I have missed, I got most of readings at 40mph, this is very slow, spinners bowl at this speed, I have been told I am faster, then I have one reading at 75mph. The fast one showed really good technique, so is why is that fast, but the slower ones shouldn't be that slow.

I just set up a new PC and loaded Pro X2 that I had bought a year ago. I also downloaded the patches. It appears that I can not place a MOV file into the timeline like I could with version 10Plus. 10 Plus did not work well but it did load. So, am I missing something here or do I need to convert all MOV files into something else.

I've been re-downloading my old Mini DV tapes. I have close to 30 of them so that's a considerable amount of data. I would like to do a reasonable (up for discussion of course) compression of the DV files before sticking them on my NAS box for all eternity (mirrored storage and backed up off-site).
I tried to use the batch conversion tool with several codecs and it generally works but I can't find a combination of codec and settings that leaves the video at the original 720x480 resolution and aspect ratio. When I pick, say, mp4 or m2t formats and 480p resolution I get 720x480 video but there are letterbox bars on the left and right. I do select the 4:3 aspect ratio.
What are the right settings for this task? I can figure out the right compromise for bitrate but I want 720x480 native resolution, no scaling. If I shouldn't use this tool for the job but something else

I do not get this error in X4. Further, it seems I don't get this error message in all AVI files. Some are ok, others aren't. very strange indeed.

What format do you recomend exporting AVCHD files to that will result in the smallest file with the best video quality?
What I've found is that Zune MPEG-4 640x480 seems best, but this format is only in X2 not in later versions.
I can continue using this but if there's something "better"....I like to know about it.

I am interested in saving my projects for both uploading to the web and for storing on my hard drive. I'm having some issues
I get by ok with the actual editing part of the VS 4 program. However, I am really struggling to figure out how to create the files in the most efficient format that would balance both quality/file size. I use two HD cams that record in the mp-4 format with h.264 compression 29.97fps. One is a Sanyo Xacti, the other A Kodak Playful. I like to record with the 720p/30 setting, and would prefer to retain the same frame resolution when I create the finished projects. Also these cams record at a rate of about 9000 kbps or so, but would like the finished project to be reduced to about half of that or maybe even less.
OK, so to this point I have experimented in saving my finished project to several different formats. And based on my first impressions, the AVI format looks best (when selecting ffd show and h264 compression). Only there's a problem...the audio is out of sync. About 1-2 seconds ahead of the video I have tried several times always with the same result. If I instead select xvid or h263 or h263+ as an alternative to h264, then everything seems fine. I have also tried creating a movie template with these parameters, as well as just going into the create custom file option and selecting AVI. Can't seem to solve the audio-video sync with h264 as the compression, no matter what I try.
Oh, and now that I've mentioned "Creating Movie Templates" I have another question dedicated just to that.
Why is it that when I save my project using my newly created template, the result is that I end up with several short saved files (portions of the complete project) instead of one single and complete file of my project? Have tried with both an AVI template in h264, as well as a WMV template. Doesn't happen when I don't use a template.

I would like to know about editing of .avi video files with Corel Video studio Pro. What i am trying to do is three things 1, remove existing text in the video while keeping the effects. 2, Add my own text to where the original text is now. 3, ad my own clips to the video. The .avi file that I am attempting to edit is actually a video template and is designed to be edited. I can't seem to remove the text in the video. There are two files : ".aep" and ".prpro" Would these file have any thing to do with the editing of the video files?

I've been looking for a solution casually for about a year to this, maybe I'm just stupid! When I import all my videos from my camera and put them into appropriate folders they make thumbnails for the files. Unfortunetely when I close down my computer and come back, they have disppeared. This is a pain because, it makes a large amount of files easy to work with as you have some idea what's contained from a thumbnail! Now initially I just thought it was my computers age (not that old) but I have a Dell XPS i7 Laptop also and it's the same story!
I shoot high quality 1080i .mts files so I'm sure they are a resource suck! Is it because the computer doesn't have the power in the RAM to remember all these files? I would of thought, once a thumbnail is made it's just like a JPEG and not changing ever in real time? Is there something I've turned off on my computer, telling it not to remember thumbnails?

I use Video Studio and have nearly 400 GB of video and photo data which I backup to DVD.track all my media files. For each file I would ideally like to track information such as: date/time taken, location, names of people, event, DVD volume lable. Thumbnails would be nice as well. I imagine some form of database which I can search for content and know which DVD/CD volume to load. Most product I have seen so far assume that the whole data library is on local disk, and doesn't handle the data being on removable media. If there is software does tracks media files but not on removeable media I will still be interested.
