AutoCAD Map 3D :: Handle Object Data For Inverts Since There Could Be Multiple Depths / Directions?

Messing around with MAP in Civil3d 2011, creating object data for sanitary sewer manholes, how do you handle object data for inverts since there could be multiple depths and directions. Whats the best way to set it up? And what kind of addtional info should there be. And when I connect to a shp file, how do you label with multiple lines, I seem to only be able to select 1 feature to label. When zoomed out would like to view structure name and when zoomed in view name, rim elevation, invert elevations.

I have a source drawing with a proposed surface, alignment, and pipe network. When I data shortcut these objects into a new drawing, everything comes in correctly except the pipes. The inverts are incorrect. The pipes maintain correct slope, just the inverts on both ends are off. The structures they are attached to have the correct rim and sump.
I have included a screen shot of the properties box for the same pipe in the source and referenced file.
I'm at a loss. I have made sure the parts list and rules are identical in both files.

I am working on drainage for a median storm sewer, culverts and ditching for a large freeway expansion project. Â I have median storm sewers running down my entire roadway (about 5kms). Â I have manually inputed the upstream and downstream elevations of the pipes in SSA, but when these pipes are connected to an inlet or junction, I only have the option of selecting one invert elevation for each structure (I am actually using a lot of catchbasin manholes in this project, which I am unsure of SSA's ability to model). Â I have multiple drops of varying elevation differences throughout the project, with some of these inlets/junction requiring drop structures due to the large difference in elevation change. Â How do I properly model this in SSA?

Inventor 2014. I have watched everything I can find and read many entries on related messages.
I create a part by creating rectangle on the XY of 90mm centered on 0,0. I add fillets on 3mm on all four corners. I then add two circles centered on 0,0 of diameters 45 mm and 41mm. What I would like to do is extrude the area between 41 mm and 45 mm circles to 10 mm and the rest of the rectangle outside of the circle 45 mm circle to 6 mm. The center of the part from center to the 41 mm circle is void or open.Â
I have read two solutions that use a "share sketch" function, that I can't find by right-clicking as indicated in the write-up.

I am working with a part that needs multiple 9mm gun drilled holes to different depths. The problem I am having is not being able to create a truly custom single line hole callout. Example( DIA 9mm +.50mm -.00mm TO DEPTHÂ 1.25in)
I understand that this isn't a common hole callout but in my situation it is what is needed. The values need to be linked to the part and not simply overridden as text. I am essentially wanting to make a style that I could apply to any hole note that would give the hole diameter a metric dimension and the depth an inch value.

I have created user defiined properties to add up to 5 inverts to a topo point object. Â Each consists of the direction of the invert as an enumerated list that can be picked from (N, NE, S, SE, etc) and the second is the measured distance from rim down to IE. Â I created these in order IE1_Dir, IE1_Meas, IE2_Dir, IE2_Meas, etc and the first time I used it everything worked fine and was in the proper order. Â Now after opening the drawing for a 2nd time all of the UDP's are scrambled making it a bit of a PITA to enter into the proper fields.
I do not see any logical order to why it is displaying this way as if it was in order of creation or alphebetical it would not have changed. Â Is there any way to correct this or is this a case of Civil 3D is going to do whatever it wants to do?

How does the datalinks handle the links to the excel spreadsheet. I am drawing parcels from legal descriptions and would like to link each parcel to a spreadsheet with all the parcels data via a ID number. Then be able to click on that parcel and see the owner (the link). But my question is: do I have to give each link a new name to correspond with the parcel in order to see each parcel ownership?Â
And how many datalinks can a drawing handle.Â

I am trying to delete records from a database file by using the erase event of the AutoCad Document Object, that is:
Private Sub AcadDocument_ObjectErased(ByVal ObjectID As Long)
My problem is that my database identifies objects by their handles in the drawing file. How do I convert the ObjectID into the object handle? I tried:
strHandle$ = Hex$(ObjectID)
but it didn't return the handle of the object that was being deleted

I need to connect to specific instances of AutoCAD and Plant3D. The Running Object Table (ROT) only holds one instance so GetObject wont work.
I've tried getting the correct instance using the hwnd with the AccessibleObjectFromWindow function. I'am thinking the easiest way is to autoload a plugin to communicate with, maybe through a service.

Question,
I have a list of blocks in a datagrid. When i double click a certain record it gets the objectid or handle.
Now i know how too highlight the object. But i don't want to highlight the entity but select it so i can change it's property's in the property pallet.
In the first screen shot you see the code i have. wicht highligts the record but the propperty pallet display no object selected.
But i want it to work like the next picture.
So the question is. When i know an entity's objectid or handle how do i select that entity programticly.

how to import point data that has Map Object Data also attached to it? "import it by attaching to a data source".
Example: I have a bunch of manholes. Each MH has X,Y,Z, but also Type, Invert Elevs., Pipe Sizes, Pipe Materials, Pipe Directions, Structure Type/Material, etc. etc. etc. I may have point data representing MH's, airport runway ends, trees, anything you can imagine, with all kinds of data imaginable.Â
I want to import this data directly into Autocad/Civil 3D as either Autocad points, lines, or closed polylines (I also have utility lines, parking lots, etc.- all with data associated with it), all with the data attached as object data. I know that anything more complex than points might be hard to explain here, so I am hoping at least for a solution on how to import points - I have 99,999 MH's and obviously I don't want to have to type all that data in one by one.
I basically suck at using sql server. I can get around using the Map workspace and the different tabs. I have never used FDO, and I am not even sure what it is.
I fooled it today by creating 99,999 Autocad points at the correct XYZ, attaching the correct object data to them, then exporting as a shp file. I went into the shp_name.dbf file and edited it to add the data I wanted by cutting & pasting from Excel. then I re-imported the shp file. but, this is a workaround at best.
Surely Map can import objects and their associated data fields, all populated with valid data! all I need is to know how to do it. I mean, if this is not something I can do directly using Map commands should I take the money I earned by surveying 99,999 MH's with my GIS data collector that allows me to assign 101data fields to each object I survey, and buy something better?

I have a drawing with Objects that have both Object Data and Linked data in an Access database. I need to get information from the linked table to a new linked table for each object.
I have thought that if I get the necessary information from the Linked table record to the object data for each object, I could then convert the Object data to a new link and am looking for a way to copy the data from a field in the Linked Table to the object data. There is at least one field common to both the OD and Linked Table record.
Is there any automated way to transfer this data?

In my company, they have just upgraded the old version of Autocad LT 2004 to the new 2013 and we have created menu to make our job easy. I have try to transfer the menu file .mnc to 2013 but it's not working or I don't do it the right way.

I'm working in AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 and Autocad Civil 3D 2009.
The General Task:I want to convert the object data to attribute data so that I can export it to an Excel file, add another column of data, and then import that new data as attribute data.
The Specific Task:I have thousands of campus water meter locations (a block with a small icon, attribute data, and object data) that belong to two different systems, domestic water and lake water. Each of these blocks has object data item (a barcode tag) that I want to show as a label next to the block.
However, before I do that, I want to export that barcode data to an excel file so I add a column (eventually a new piece of attribute data) that says whether or not that specific water meter is radio read or manually read. I want to then import that radio read/manual read excel file back into autocad and have an X appear on the block icon if it is radio read. I also want the barcode information to show up as a label.
My problem:I can't get the barcode object data to export with the locations in one easy excel sheet that I can simply import after I have made my changes.
Find some person on here who knows how to convert object data to attribute data.

I am using my computer as a combo video editing and Photo editing setup. I using a raid 5 for my video editing work, and two 1TB drive setup as raid 1 mirror where my photos are located. I am down to my last 325 GB that may sould a lot but I am planning on really taking off with my picture taking. I have a NAS were I also have my photos backed up. I have not added my photos to Lightroom catalog. I also have Photoshop. I understand it is better to have the photos located on the computer instead of external. How dose Lightroom handle photos on multiple drives?Should I separate the two 1TB drives so I have two 2TB available and if so were to place lightroom Catalog folder?  Or should I make it easy on myself and just purchase a 2TB drives and place all the photos at that location?

I am using Photoshop CS5 and am creating a photo montage poster with about 30 images on it. The photos are not stellar and I need to change levels, exposure, saturation etc to each image. I was creating groups from layers for each image then dropping it onto the montage file, but I see that filters effect every layer below.Â
I have a gradient layer as my background and I don't want it affected nor do I want every layer below affected. I created smart layers from each image, that works, but it really slows the system down. What is the smartest and most efficient way to handle this?Â

I am trying to LOFT multiple ellipse shapes along a spline path to create a door handle. But as soon as I choose 1 section, MAX creates the shape. I cannot figure out how to create the shape with multiple cross sections. I have attached a screen shot and a pic of the door handle I want to create.

Is it possible to do a multiple-records data merge that doesn't generate multiple text boxes? And if so, how?

For publications such as a directory with contact information, it would be easier to manage the layout by merging multiple records into one text box. However, it seems like the only option in InDesign is to merge the records into each of their own text boxes.

I'm drawing existing SD pipes and trying to put in rim and inverts of the existing structures. Sometimes it won't let me raise an invert to where it really is. It only let's me raise it so far. It may be a rule but it doesn't seem to be a rule I can change.

We have a points file to create a "bottom of peat level" surface. The only problem is, along with the X and Y, it only gives us the distance from OGL, not the actual Z Elevation at each point. How do we import these into C3D to create a surface? We have a topo survey for the whole site, so we have and EG surface.

There is problem with my CorelDRAW X6.
After I import different files in my working file, it's getting hard to work- RAM(16GB) is getting completely full and its almost unworkable!
IÂ checked out Object Manager and found stack with "SVG data" and "Locked SVG data" object there under some basic shapes.
Stack is about from 10000 to 100000... Some times even more, but its not possible to select all them because Corel just stops. What is that- Â "SVG data" and "Locked SVG data" object and why they are so many there?

I can give the client cut and fill grid ticks, but they want a map, so to speak. I have an existing surface. I have a post dredging surface. I can run the volumes and create a comparison surface. Now what I need is to display the combined surface in such a way that you can easily see, this is the area where 0 - 0.5 feet was removed, this this the area where 0.5 -1.0 feet was removed, and so on and so forth.

I have a case with the Subassembly Composer where I have 3 varying depths. InsideLane, OutsideLane, and Shoulder. My Base shape below these 3 shapes will not setup properly. I understand why, it's because the varying depths will create a potential step up or down situation depending on the depth of the top 3 shapes. This prevents the definition of the Base Shape.Â
For the sake of quantities I'd like to create a Base Shape. I could create Base1 Base2 Base3 (one below Inside Lane, Outside Lane, and Shoulder). I would prefer not to for clarity purposes.Â
How could one approach this? I'm thinking that I need some conditional components to clean this up. I'm not a pro writing expressions. I basically need to define the links that define the varying depths between the top 3 depths. I need to create another point and link if the depths vary, and that link needs to be included within the shape definition for Base.

Wanted to know if there is a way to place pressure pipes at variable depths.
We got inspector notes which show the depths at each end of the pipes.
And I notice that under Pipe Properties, Part Properties tab, and under Geometry there is Start Cover and End Cover.
But both are greyed out.
Is it possible to use Star Cover and End Cover to design the pipes?Â

I created a pipe network from a object (alignment wLpolyline) I want to set my inverts at the inside edge
of my SDMH not the center. I go into Edit Pipe Networks then the vista (table). I don't see a option to do that.
Is there a setting in the SDMH structure style or somewhere else?
As an example I come in at 6250.0 at inside a 48" MH and go out at 6251.0 at other side of MH.
I wanted to use a catch basin that shows the depressed curb & lip like the one in the Pipe Network Video
but it not in my parts Library even when I create a full parts list it still isn't there. Is ther a way to go on line and download part structures?

I'm working in b/w, so what was white turns black and black turns white. And how can I undo it. Restarting photoshop didn't work.

We need to take polylines from AutoCAD Map 3D to 3ds Max and rename each polyline to have a name of something like "Building Number-Room Number", both of which are defined in our properties for each polyline. Because none of this data is kept on import to Max, we need to do this all in Map 3D, which we are not experienced with. Is there a way to do this, and if so what? We are importing the .dwg files in Max with polylines as splines.
