I'm drawing existing SD pipes and trying to put in rim and inverts of the existing structures. Sometimes it won't let me raise an invert to where it really is. It only let's me raise it so far. It may be a rule but it doesn't seem to be a rule I can change.
View 4 RepliesI have a source drawing with a proposed surface, alignment, and pipe network. When I data shortcut these objects into a new drawing, everything comes in correctly except the pipes. The inverts are incorrect. The pipes maintain correct slope, just the inverts on both ends are off. The structures they are attached to have the correct rim and sump.
I have included a screen shot of the properties box for the same pipe in the source and referenced file.
I'm at a loss. I have made sure the parts list and rules are identical in both files.
I created a pipe network from a object (alignment wLpolyline) I want to set my inverts at the inside edge
of my SDMH not the center. I go into Edit Pipe Networks then the vista (table). I don't see a option to do that.
Is there a setting in the SDMH structure style or somewhere else?
As an example I come in at 6250.0 at inside a 48" MH and go out at 6251.0 at other side of MH.
I wanted to use a catch basin that shows the depressed curb & lip like the one in the Pipe Network Video
but it not in my parts Library even when I create a full parts list it still isn't there. Is ther a way to go on line and download part structures?
I am trying to adjust (raise) a very intensive topographic survey from NGVD 1929 to NAVD 1988.I know how to raise the surface and I know how to adjust the datum of the points.
How to raise all the breaklines used to develop the surface as well? This would include survey figures, feature lines and 3d polylines.I want to raise them all by an equal amount.
I am working on drainage for a median storm sewer, culverts and ditching for a large freeway expansion project. I have median storm sewers running down my entire roadway (about 5kms). I have manually inputed the upstream and downstream elevations of the pipes in SSA, but when these pipes are connected to an inlet or junction, I only have the option of selecting one invert elevation for each structure (I am actually using a lot of catchbasin manholes in this project, which I am unsure of SSA's ability to model). I have multiple drops of varying elevation differences throughout the project, with some of these inlets/junction requiring drop structures due to the large difference in elevation change. How do I properly model this in SSA?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created user defiined properties to add up to 5 inverts to a topo point object. Each consists of the direction of the invert as an enumerated list that can be picked from (N, NE, S, SE, etc) and the second is the measured distance from rim down to IE. I created these in order IE1_Dir, IE1_Meas, IE2_Dir, IE2_Meas, etc and the first time I used it everything worked fine and was in the proper order. Now after opening the drawing for a 2nd time all of the UDP's are scrambled making it a bit of a PITA to enter into the proper fields.
I do not see any logical order to why it is displaying this way as if it was in order of creation or alphebetical it would not have changed. Is there any way to correct this or is this a case of Civil 3D is going to do whatever it wants to do?
Pipe network storm pipes: Fairly new to Civil3D and trying to set up parts list for the storm sewer pipe and would like the plan view to appear as it does currently. We use a polyline for centerline of pipe, similar to dashed linetype but line and space are the same, width set to pipe width.

Also I "insert" manhole every 400' per local code requirements using the command "network layout tools; structures only. My problem is I couldn't find the tools how to trim the pipe that pass through the manhole. Please see attached pdf file.

I end up tracing the pipe with eliptical objects where I'm cutting across the pipe and setting up more for the lengthwise/sideview of the pipe. Is there a way to have two different styles for the same pipe, one for a cross cut and one for a lengthwise slice?

To make this area stand out more I wanted to raise it from the rest in a 3D way and the part that was rised could be slightly translucent to still allow visability of the remaining area. Whats the best way to set it up? And what kind of addtional info should there be. And when I connect to a shp file, how do you label with multiple lines, I seem to only be able to select 1 feature to label. When zoomed out would like to view structure name and when zoomed in view name, rim elevation, invert elevations.

After having a "&%##%"-moment and taking it out on my keyboard I've made my brushes invert what I'm doing instead of actually painting with the color it's supposed to. I'm working in b/w, so what was white turns black and black turns white. And how can I undo it. Restarting photoshop didn't work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created a pipe rule and applied it to my 6" HDPE pipe in my parts list. The rule is followed close but not exact. Here it is:
I created a "cover only" rule for my 6" HDPE pipe. I have the maximum and minimum cover set to 3.50'. I have it the same so it will draw my pipe 3.50' deep. I don't want it to vary. It for drawing in existing underground power so when we cut profiles and sections the existing power shows up. We want it to show up 3.50' deep. I created a label style for my pipe that tells me start cover and end cover of the pipe so I can see it right there on the screen. The numbers range from 3.50' deep to 4.70' deep.
Why does the pipe not get drawn in exactly 3.50' deep?
When I create a new pressure network in 2014 - I have only Tees & Elbows available - Where are crosses? I need a 4-way cross at an intersection, C3D seems to include just the other two types I listed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have this block called gate valve. The base point is at the middle of the block. When I use this block as a style and insert it in profile it always places itself down low on the pipe. As you can see the grip is way above the top of the block and I have to move it into place anytime I use one. If I change the pipe inverts the gate valve block style lowers itself once again and I have to move it up into place. I have changed the base of the block but it makes no difference.
This is how the structure look in the object viewer. Notice the one on the right is the block that needs to be raised, however in the viewer it shows placed correctly.
Any way to label a pipe part way between structures? I would like to be able to label a sanitary line where a service ties in with the main line invert.

My boss has designed a gravity project that has 21" PVC. Civil 3D 2010 only has 20" PVC, not 21". He basically said 21" PVC exists (JM Eagle) so make it happen. So how exactly can I add a new size to the Parts Catalog under PVC?

A pipe network has been created & labeled. All pipes labeled correctly except one. The material for 15", 18", 24" RCP pipes labeled "RCP" but all the 12" pipes labeled "Reinforced Concrete Pipe". So I know I need to change the Material of the 12" pipe to read "RCP". I was hoping to just go to Pipe Properties & change it there for this dwg but it doesn't change.
I was thinking it might be in the part xml file but why would some label "RCP" and the 12" didn't? The Parts Catolog used in this dwg is the default from Autodesk. Also, in the Part List, Material is greyed out. That's the first place I went to change the Material.
I'm in the process of creating content for "pressure Pipe networks". I have created a number of pipes (HDPE, PVC and steel, sizes ranging from 20mm to 200mm). I have also created a number of Tees (Equal and reducing).
My question is.
If you draw in pressure pipe say 90mm ø and the insert a fitting say a 90x75x90 reducing Tee into the line. Then you wish to extend the pipe from the 75mm ø branch, it does not pick up it should be a 75mm pipe but defaults back to the setting (90mm) that you drew the original pipe line in, you have to change the default pipe type to 75 before extending the 75mm pipe from the Tee.

I have multiple profile views with a pipe network. In a number of cases, I have a pipe that extends to the end of one profile view and continues on the next. I can label the pipe on one profile but not on the other. Is there a way to add two labels to the same pipe - one label on one profile view and another label on the other profile?

There is a way to correct the position?
I've set the start and end locations to be at the structure inner wall and applied rules but the invert elevation is still as if the pipe ended at the center of the structure. Did I miss something or does this not do what I think it does?

I can create a pipe network, and label it, and see it in my toolspace, but it won't display it for any style in any format. I can bring in a data reference and label those, but can not see pipe or structure outlines or anything to that end. I have tried to recover, audit, purge. I am at the end, currently creating the pipe network, data referencing it in, and then just drawing lines between the labels.

All I want for now is a basic tool for sizing pipes without all the bells, loops & whistles. I can learn the fancy pipe networking stuff later.
When labeling pipes, the lengths and stations do not always match. this appears to be related to a rounding issue. for example, the first pipe may start at 0+00 and have a length of 50.69167397’. The reported station in the structure label (using “normal rounding”) is naturally 0+50.69, as anticipated. The upstream pipe has a length of 43.36435901’, resulting in a total length from 0+00 of 94.05603298, resulting in a station of 0+94.06. However, the rounded values of the lengths (c’mon, nobody reports lengths to the 100-millionth) labeled on the pipes (50.69’ and 43.36’) total an expected station of 0+94.05.
I have tried all manners of “rounding” in the label styles, but it always falls down in one situation or another. I have also tried setting in the network and pipe “Feature Settings” for distance to a locked accuracy of 2 decimal places, but that does nto seem to do it either.
So, the question is, is there a way to resolve this issue without having to move one of the structures 0.001’ to resolve the mathematical parallax?
What is the best way to edit the parameters of a pipe (slope, ie, size) once you have it drawn?
