AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Edit The Parameters Of A Pipe
May 10, 2012What is the best way to edit the parameters of a pipe (slope, ie, size) once you have it drawn?

View 2 RepliesI created pipe network for my storm drain project. I have located all the structures (manhole) to all angle point of my alignment as required. Also I "insert" manhole every 400' per local code requirements using the command "network layout tools; structures only. My problem is I couldn't find the tools how to trim the pipe that pass through the manhole. Please see attached pdf file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I edit (graphically) my pipe network in plan view without losing my elevations every time I move a node? Every time I move a node I have to re-enter my invert elevations. Is there some way to "lock" my inverts? It may be useful to know my pipes have no structures linking them (water line).

The easiest way I can think of is to create alignments of all the pipes in the network and then editing the grips in the profile view of each alignment, easily changing the pipe's slope and depth...
The catch with this method is that:
- it takes a while to create all the alignments needed;
- I have to manually adjust the alignments if I need to change the pipe network position on plan.

I am setting up a parts list using The Metric Catologue. In the Pipe Properties the Pipe Diameter shows mm but the Minimum Curve Radius shows inches. The Units are Greyed-Out. Is there a way to edit these Units?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a pipe network, and I would like to edit the elevations of multiple pipes, similar to how I would edit the elevations of a feature line or an alignment, in a table. I can't figure out how to edit these besides just selecting pipe properties on each individual pipe.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI created a pipe network using Civil 3D 2011 and we upgraded to 2012 in the middle of the process.
I've always been able to edit the MATERIAL of the pipe for (I like to add class and type in this column)
It worked fine in 2011 as you can see in the first image.
But in 2012, the material changes that I added in 2011 chow up, but I can't edit them or revise them.
it causes me to have to label my pipes in the label editor instead of assigning the material property in the pipe properties with-in my pipe network.

We're currently experiencing some strange behaviour with our pipe networks. Certain structures will not swap parts, but even more strangely, manhole height seems to be locked. Sumps will not adjust via grip edit or manual changes (see image: pipe connects to stucture, but sump will not update). Changing reference surfaces does not seem to work either. This occurs with all structures, even new ones, including ones created in brand new dwg files. I think the issue is related to the pipe catalogue (saved on a network path).
If you look at the attached images, the part appears to be modeled fine in part builder, but when that part is used in a style, I have a really random shape show up instead (although it still looks okay through object viewer for some reason). There have been some updates to some of the structures using part builder recently, is it possible that the pipe catalogue became corrupted somehow? or is there a way to refresh/regen the catalogue so that my drawings will update with the changes?
How the object is modelled is really not that important for our uses, we just need it to look okay in the profile views. It would also be nice if the sumps could be adjusted.
I created a pipe network from a object (alignment wLpolyline) I want to set my inverts at the inside edge
of my SDMH not the center. I go into Edit Pipe Networks then the vista (table). I don't see a option to do that.
Is there a setting in the SDMH structure style or somewhere else?
As an example I come in at 6250.0 at inside a 48" MH and go out at 6251.0 at other side of MH.
I wanted to use a catch basin that shows the depressed curb & lip like the one in the Pipe Network Video
but it not in my parts Library even when I create a full parts list it still isn't there. Is ther a way to go on line and download part structures?
I am working on a pipe with a ports on one side. I created a True/False parameter to determine whether the ports are on one side or two and created a rule that does that, but now I am stuck with the CC:
Is there a way to publish a part to the content center with a true/false parameter? I made a rule to designate what true and false means but when I publish it to the content center I want to be able to choose whether it's true or false and it doesn't seem to be working. I also tried to publish without the T/F parameter and then after placing it just change the T/F parameter but I cannot change any parameter of a part that I placed from the content center.reciated.
Pipe network storm pipes: Fairly new to Civil3D and trying to set up parts list for the storm sewer pipe and would like the plan view to appear as it does currently. We use a polyline for centerline of pipe, similar to dashed linetype but line and space are the same, width set to pipe width.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of the things I seem to struggle with is being able to depict a single pipe when it needs to be shown in one profile as a crossing pipe, and another profile where you you show a lenghwise slice through the pipe. I end up tracing the pipe with eliptical objects where I'm cutting across the pipe and setting up more for the lengthwise/sideview of the pipe. Is there a way to have two different styles for the same pipe, one for a cross cut and one for a lengthwise slice?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have some blocks that I want to use to make a drawing. In the attached dwg, there are a few blocks inserted, and a shape made from those blocks.
As they stand, I can send the dimensions of each block into an excel spreadsheet or into a table. However, as you can see, if I want to make that triangle look like a triangle, I need to edit the blocks themselves. I'd like to edit each block in place (even though I'll have to create a new block for the edited version, that's okay), and still be able to reference the length of each block in excel.
If possible, I'd also like to figure out how to reference the angle into excel, so that when I look at the excel table, it tells me that I need that piece of material, cut to that length, with that angle.
I have come to a road block, I am for a lost of how to connect the information that i type into textboxs and to change the values of dimensional constraint parameters ex. d1 d2 d3
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to make a grid that is adjustable by editing parameters. I want to change the size of the blocks. And i want to change the number of blocks in the x-direction and y-direction.
I have created a square with a width of 50mm and a height of 20mm. I have created 2 parameters called width and height. Next I added dimensions to the square and i call those dimensions width and height. Now I can adjust the width and height of the square by editing the parameters.
Next I want to copy this square in the x- and y-direction so that you get a grid. The number of copies in x-direction I call number-x. The same in the y-direction.
I then link the number-x and number-y to 2 parameters that i have named number-x and number-y.
The distance between the squares has to be the same as the size of the first square. Only then you get a grid. So i created parameters for this to. I call them width2 and height2.
Now I can adjust the size of the grid by editing these parameters. When i change number-x or number the grid becomes larger. But when i want to change the size of the initial square, it doesn't work. I think because of the fact that the first square has become a part of an array.
How to make a grid that is adjustable nu editing parameters in the parameters manager?
How do I edit a derived part with a part file and include parameters I'm after?
I cant' seem to work out how to get to the reference components parameters to select whats visible and not visible.
I've authored custom tube and pipe components, published them to library and created a custom tube and pipe style. But when I want to create a route with my custom style I get this error message "Edit route failed". The style only consists of a pipe and 90 elbow. All the other styles seem to work.
I also tried to create a custom style for tubing with bends and it worked fine so I guess it has something to do with my elbow.
I am building sub-assembly, I just want to know if there is any example or tutorial on how to add target parameters to sub-assemblies.

I am currently using Civil 3D 2011 and 2012 but soon making the jump to 2013.In my project I want to able to present a 3D-object from Civil 3D 2011 to Navisworks, eg the body of a road. I am doing this currently with the add-on program from Autodesk Labs named Corridor Solids. The several different 3D-objects that represent the different layers of the road body needs to have a certain set of parameters. For instance, Name, Dimensions, Material and so forth.
Currently, the only thing that I can present in Navisworks is the layer name that I associate to that object when I export it from Civil 3D with Corridor Solids. Is there a way, in vanilla Civil 3D or perhaps an add-on program that I can use to associate more parameters to a solid?
I am trying to overlay a large area,I have a design profile grade that I must use. I need the new edge of the overlay pavement to be 2" above the existing as long as the pavement cross slope is between 1% to 1.5% . If the slope goes above or below the min or max I need it to take the min or max. If I use the overlaymillandlevel2 I am unable to get it to use the overlay thickness since i am using a profile.

Is there a way to change a RAW description such as EC12 +, or EC11 -, to say SWP12 +, SWP11 -
I'm not having much luck using the parameter settings. 1$
I tried Code = EC*, format=SWP1$
That didn't work... I got literally SWP1$ instead of SWP12 +
Is it a space thing? Do I have to rename all the descriptions to have a space before the parameter?
i.e. EC 12 +
I'm hoping this isn't the case and some form of wildcard can be use.
I am using one assembly for this project and of course the existing surface does not always work well with one assembly so I have been using the corridor section editor to adjust each station individually. Attached is a picture of my first station, I started with a 3:1 fore slope (left side) and have changed it to a 2:1 slope. However, my ditch line elevation did not adjust and my parameter editor will not let me adjust the beginning elevation for the ditch line. I am curious as to what the simple solution is for this so my ditchline and back slope or slope to surface will be portrayed correctly.
