View 4 RepliesI want to make a grid that is adjustable by editing parameters. I want to change the size of the blocks. And i want to change the number of blocks in the x-direction and y-direction.
I have created a square with a width of 50mm and a height of 20mm. I have created 2 parameters called width and height. Next I added dimensions to the square and i call those dimensions width and height. Now I can adjust the width and height of the square by editing the parameters.
Next I want to copy this square in the x- and y-direction so that you get a grid. The number of copies in x-direction I call number-x. The same in the y-direction.
I then link the number-x and number-y to 2 parameters that i have named number-x and number-y.
The distance between the squares has to be the same as the size of the first square. Only then you get a grid. So i created parameters for this to. I call them width2 and height2.
Now I can adjust the size of the grid by editing these parameters. When i change number-x or number the grid becomes larger. But when i want to change the size of the initial square, it doesn't work. I think because of the fact that the first square has become a part of an array.
How to make a grid that is adjustable nu editing parameters in the parameters manager?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith Windows version of AutoCAD2013, I can't find the Dialog box of Parameters Manager (See the First Picture below) from Block Editor Tab in Manage panel (the Second Picture below.) When I pick the Parameters Manager tool, I could see something happened in a blink of an eye, and disappeared. I tried the line command by typing PARAMETERS, but to no avail. I clicked Parametriic from the menu bar, and then Parameters Manager for selection, but with the same result. I just can't display it.

Is there anyway to generate text based on other dimensions or parameters stored in the parameters manager?
For instance, if I have a line that is 3" long, I'd like to have a note that says 'This line is 3"'. Or, if a circle is X feet in diameter, I'd like to have a note that says 'This circle is X feet'. These are just examples, but I hope you get what I'm saying.
I'm using the new parametric modeling and doing some amazing stuff, but I'd like to parametrize my notes, too, if at all possible.
I found the topic by typing "expressions" but it doesn't pass me to there.
Any shortcut to the in built formulas and allowed expressions in parameters and dimensions?
I am finally getting time to do some organizational cleanup and management with our templates and vault settings. Many of the things are items that I am altering for each drawing/model I make and I would like to make them "stick" for the company standards. Things like altering font size in the styles library, adding part dimensions to the parameters for the parts list, and creating a new content central library where our part numbers are already populated for the parts list and the structural shapes have datum planes in the middle rather than just at beginning and end.

I have an ipart which is being controlled by an external spreadsheet. Each cell references a cell within a spreadsheet on my local drive. I have a set a parameters that are used to completely define each part but I am also interested in some of the reference parameters (from driven dimensions) so that I can analyze relationships between reference and input parameters. Is it possible (without extensive programming in windows VB or other) to export data from this iPart into, prefereably, the driving spreadsheet or another spreadsheet?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some manufacturing dimensions that are an end result of my design so they are driven dimensions at the end of my modeling history and pulled into the ipart table. If I make some design changes I need these dimensions to update too. The problem is they do not automatically update and require a manual activation of each child memeber for the dimension to update.
The dreaded "The Values in the active row don't match the document's current values. do you wish to update the table before continuing" Click, enter, Click, enter, Click, enter.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some blocks that I want to use to make a drawing. In the attached dwg, there are a few blocks inserted, and a shape made from those blocks.
As they stand, I can send the dimensions of each block into an excel spreadsheet or into a table. However, as you can see, if I want to make that triangle look like a triangle, I need to edit the blocks themselves. I'd like to edit each block in place (even though I'll have to create a new block for the edited version, that's okay), and still be able to reference the length of each block in excel.
If possible, I'd also like to figure out how to reference the angle into excel, so that when I look at the excel table, it tells me that I need that piece of material, cut to that length, with that angle.
How do I edit a derived part with a part file and include parameters I'm after?
I cant' seem to work out how to get to the reference components parameters to select whats visible and not visible.
Working in AutoCAD 2013LT-my Layer Properties Manager has stopped allowing me access. When I open a drawing layers all come however I get a pop-up note that says: "ALL LAYERS ARE ALREADY INCLUDED IN THIS LAYER STATE. NO LAYERS CAN BE ADDED"
What happened-even when I try to edit layers they will not show up in the Properties Manager as changed.

I remember there were the similar problems before and I installed KB918118 fixed it. So I tried to install KB918118. But my computer shown a message saying my computer system is newer and do not need the KB918118 update.
when I try to edit a dimension in my Idw's. I normally can double click on the dimension or right click on it and choose edit, but now the window will not pop up. It freezes the screen like the window is open but no window on the screen, almost like it opens off of the screen where you can not see it, the program has been reinstalled but still have the same problem.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a function in AutoCAD that lets you edit the dimensions of an existing object on fly like there is in Vectorworks.I have included an attachment of a vectorworks screen dump to explain what I'm asking. In the screen dump you can see a Rectangle is already drawn with the measurements of 1800,900 mm. This can be changed in Vectorworks via the dimension property box on the right hand side. Can this sort of thing be performed in AutoCAD?

In 2010 and previous releases I recall being able to show the feature dimension by right clicking "Show Dimensions" and then being able to double click on any visible dimension and change its value. I don't see this behavior in 2012. Is there a setting to turn this on?

Its a 2D cylinder, for winding purposes we just have a rectangle, with a distance from the Y axis for radial.
Parametric dimensions: B=thickness, C=Lenght, R=radius
User parameter: A=Diameter (R*2), Mass in kg ((((pi*(c*b))*(A+B))*1.25)/1000)/1000
For the BOM, i need A, B, C & mass
For drawing references for peoples on the floor, to distinquish a cylinder from a stick, we put lines at the top and bottom of the cylinder, 1mm distance inbetween them.
I figured that making a linear parameter + stretch on the thickness to replace the B parametric dimension, allowed me to make an array of that line, with increments of 1mm as i stretch the cylinder. The thing is that the mass formula cant take the value of action parameters....
Other alternative is to keep the B parametric dimension, and add a linear parameter as above for the array. But then i have 2 places to adjust, and from a test i made, if i change the R dimension, the linear one does not follow. Its very frustrating.
What i was hoping autocad would be able to do is distance1 for array to be same as B dimension, but it does not allow me to do that, unless im missing something.
Trying to resize photo and photoshop will not let me edit the pixel dimensions.

I created holes in the model as a 1/4" tapped hole
Yet when I show the dimensions in the drawing they show the minor dimension.
How do I get the 1/4" to show? I have selected the feature and still get these results.
Is there any way I can make exploded dimensions in an old drawing become live dimensions again.
