when I try to edit a dimension in my Idw's. I normally can double click on the dimension or right click on it and choose edit, but now the window will not pop up. It freezes the screen like the window is open but no window on the screen, almost like it opens off of the screen where you can not see it, the program has been reinstalled but still have the same problem.
View 2 RepliesIn 2010 and previous releases I recall being able to show the feature dimension by right clicking "Show Dimensions" and then being able to double click on any visible dimension and change its value. I don't see this behavior in 2012. Is there a setting to turn this on?

I remember there were the similar problems before and I installed KB918118 fixed it. So I tried to install KB918118. But my computer shown a message saying my computer system is newer and do not need the KB918118 update.

Also, once the shrink is added I need to be able to make a split mold out of the part. How would I go about do that? I should be able to make a block; then cut the part out of the block. View 5 Replies View RelatedI cannot edit a dimension that I add to a drawing, IV simply ignores my request when I select Edit from the shortcut menu. This is not a retrieved dimension. My only workaround has been to edit the dimension properties in the part file to display as I would like on the drawings.
I've checked the application options, under Drawing tab, I do have "Edit dimension when created" checked, yet IV does not display the edit dialogue box upon initial creation of the dimension.

I no longer have the option to edit iparts or iassemblies via speadsheet (excel). I'm using Excel 2007. (INV 2012 Sp1)
Is excel functionality part of an addin that I might have turned off accidentally?
I believe it was working in 2012 but haven't really noticed it not working till after Sp1 install till now..

If I zoom in on a small detail in a large sketch and then issue the "edit sketch" command Inventor changes the view to where the origin is visible on the screen. Is it possible to disable this?

I created holes in the model as a 1/4" tapped hole
Yet when I show the dimensions in the drawing they show the minor dimension.
How do I get the 1/4" to show? I have selected the feature and still get these results.
is there a way to lock the dimensions to aligned dimensions...or a key i could hold while dimensioning that would do that..
i have to dimensions a drawing where theres a lot of aligned dimensions to put and to do it manualy each time takes forever...

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a function in AutoCAD that lets you edit the dimensions of an existing object on fly like there is in Vectorworks.I have included an attachment of a vectorworks screen dump to explain what I'm asking. In the screen dump you can see a Rectangle is already drawn with the measurements of 1800,900 mm. This can be changed in Vectorworks via the dimension property box on the right hand side. Can this sort of thing be performed in AutoCAD?

Right now the blocks come in at different sizes then I would like. I try to edit them in the block editor however the changes I make do not apply to any other or new drawings that I make.

I created a pipe network using Civil 3D 2011 and we upgraded to 2012 in the middle of the process.
I've always been able to edit the MATERIAL of the pipe for (I like to add class and type in this column)
It worked fine in 2011 as you can see in the first image.
But in 2012, the material changes that I added in 2011 chow up, but I can't edit them or revise them.
it causes me to have to label my pipes in the label editor instead of assigning the material property in the pipe properties with-in my pipe network.

I created a pipe network from a object (alignment wLpolyline) I want to set my inverts at the inside edge
of my SDMH not the center. I go into Edit Pipe Networks then the vista (table). I don't see a option to do that.
Is there a setting in the SDMH structure style or somewhere else?
As an example I come in at 6250.0 at inside a 48" MH and go out at 6251.0 at other side of MH.
I wanted to use a catch basin that shows the depressed curb & lip like the one in the Pipe Network Video
but it not in my parts Library even when I create a full parts list it still isn't there. Is ther a way to go on line and download part structures?

I export my ipt to an stl (and I make sure that I click on options before I convert and make sure the units are in mm) yet the units are still off. I am using Inventor 2013.
It seems like most people were able to solve their problem by clicking on options but even that seems like it is not working for me.
All of the sudden after I sketch a rectangle i need 8 dimensions instead of 4. how do I get it back to only needing 4?

Is there actually a good reason why dimensions in IV are vectorless? If not, can we consider as a feature request? This gives me constant headaches in Inventor with my sketches and mates solving in unpredictable ways. I know I can use work planes as a work around, but it's a huge PITA.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am dimensions moving around in my drawing files and I am trying to figure out why they do this. I change one little thing on my models, open the drawing, then spend 30 minutes going over every dimension in comparison to the old drawing trying to find all the ones that moved erratically and put them back where they were. Most of the dimensions that move don't have anything to do with the change I made to the model.
For example, the dimension in this picture used to be on the other side of the other extension line, and it was never that close to the geometry:

I have a part made by a former co-worker that appears to have some dimensions locked. The second feature on the attached file is a pair of rectangular cuts. I would like to edit the dimensions of the hole, but when I select a dimension I am unable to enter any numbers in the dialog box.

Once a 3D object is drawn/completed in Inventor LT, how does one go back to the object to change the length/radius of certain objects without having to completely redrawn the object. For instance, imagine a bike wheel that is fully draw. Later perhaps one wants to go back to the wheel and adjust the radius of the spokes and the length. How does one do this quickly. In 2D I see how, but can this also be done in 3D with Inventor LT?

Is there a way to break dimensions in Inventor like in Autocad? It automatically breaks around certain things, but I'm wondering if there is any way to control this.
