AutoCAD Inventor :: Breaking Dimensions In It?
Apr 9, 2009Is there a way to break dimensions in Inventor like in Autocad? It automatically breaks around certain things, but I'm wondering if there is any way to control this.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Breaking Link From One File To Another?
Oct 20, 2011Say we needed a similar assembly under the same file with a few modifications, like a guardrail for instance. All I have ever had to do was copy the folder with the assembly and parts in it and rename the folder and assembly to change the link to another folder. Opening the assembly quickly prompts me for a part or two in the new folder then I am good to go. A coworker of mine who runs the same computer and version of Inventor never gets that request. When the assembly is opened in the new folder it automatically links it back to the previous file regardless of changing the folder etc.

Sep 27, 2011I have several assemblies where I've linked parameters between sketches. I need to copy some of these files for re-use in other un-related assemblies. What is the best way to break the link between the files? They are going to be used in the same project.

Dec 21, 2011I am wondering about something called a "dimbreak" command to break demension lines. I heard it has been used in AutoCad. Is it also something available to Inventor users? I can't find anything when I search for it in Inventor and I need to be able to "explode" or otherwise change my dimensions manually so I can break dimension lines as they pass over other dimension lines.

Jun 21, 2012When attempting to break the link on a projected spline, the spline type reverts to what appears to be the legacy AutoCAD type of spline (see image).
Is there a way around this other than drawing a new spline on top of the projected geometry and working with the new spline?
The idea was to project the shape, break the link, then ,ove the shape to a new location in preparation for a lofting procedure.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Breaking Decal Link After Creation?
Aug 14, 2013We are having a pretty large annoyance where anytime you open a part with a decal, a message comes up saying there is a newer decal, and asking if you want to check out the decal. From digging a little bit I have found that this is caused by the decal being linked to the image. I however have not been able to find a way to break the link on an already created and vaulted part.
If so, how is this link removed?

In drafting while creating note of hole there is no breaking point for arrow there is only straight arrow line( pls find attached file of DIM 01). I am not getting any setting for the same.

Feb 8, 2013When I create a "Break" in a view, Inventor glitches. The other views, and even the border, title block, and whatever else is in the drawing, will disappear. The other items reappear if I "Zoom All". Is there an update?

Mar 16, 2012I typically as much as possible like to insert my dimensions into my drawing from my model.
I created holes in the model as a 1/4" tapped hole
Yet when I show the dimensions in the drawing they show the minor dimension.
How do I get the 1/4" to show? I have selected the feature and still get these results.

I saw that others say it just happens, but it is not "just happening" for me. how to set my dimensions so when dimension lines cross each other one of them automatically breaks?

They can set up Excel tables with links and have no troubles but, the minute I try to edit one the link gets broken. I also have an issue where if I highlight the border of the OLE, right click, and try to open the OLE... I get a small error box saying that the server application has failed.

I.e. you have ten horizontal lines 3m long and one vertical line running down the center of the 3m lines. I need to break the horizontal lines in two where they touch the vertical line without having a line smaller then 1.5m.
On a single line I can do it using the F command and clicking twice on the intersection but is it possible to select multiple lines ant the same time and use the crossing line to cut along?

Feb 11, 2013I have a cylinder with an 18mm diameter.
I export my ipt to an stl (and I make sure that I click on options before I convert and make sure the units are in mm) yet the units are still off. I am using Inventor 2013.
It seems like most people were able to solve their problem by clicking on options but even that seems like it is not working for me.

Jan 25, 2012I am dimensions moving around in my drawing files and I am trying to figure out why they do this. I change one little thing on my models, open the drawing, then spend 30 minutes going over every dimension in comparison to the old drawing trying to find all the ones that moved erratically and put them back where they were. Most of the dimensions that move don't have anything to do with the change I made to the model.
For example, the dimension in this picture used to be on the other side of the other extension line, and it was never that close to the geometry:

AutoCAD Inventor :: Locked Dimensions?
Nov 14, 2012I have a part made by a former co-worker that appears to have some dimensions locked. The second feature on the attached file is a pair of rectangular cuts. I would like to edit the dimensions of the hole, but when I select a dimension I am unable to enter any numbers in the dialog box.

Once a 3D object is drawn/completed in Inventor LT, how does one go back to the object to change the length/radius of certain objects without having to completely redrawn the object. For instance, imagine a bike wheel that is fully draw. Later perhaps one wants to go back to the wheel and adjust the radius of the spokes and the length. How does one do this quickly. In 2D I see how, but can this also be done in 3D with Inventor LT?
