View 2 Replies View RelatedI am creating a set of parametric stairs. All of my constraints are in place for my 2 main work points. I am now trying to make an associative path array to depict the stair treads. Path array works great initially, however when I change my variables for stair height, my stair treads tilt with my work line in such a way that they're no longer parallel to the floor.
The angle of the stairs must be variable as it will change from one set of stairs to another. All that said, I am wondering if there is some variable or command that will make the treads retain their ucs orientation regardless of the angle of my path line. I've tried every option while creating the array with no luck.
Trick to keeping objects aligned with a helix when using an associative path array? The animation below demonstrates the problem where I can't seem to keep the "treads" on a spiral stairs aligned with the center of the helix. (fewer objects accentuate the problem)

we use Civil 3D as a design tool, and sometimes in the finished (plotted) product. We use STB (named) plot styles and layer settings to control object display.
I have a situation where I have received a drawing that is populated with Civil 3D styles already. However, in the Display tab, all the object Plot Styles are set to ByBlock. That does not seem to work properly with .STB plot style management, because the individual objects (contours, points, etc.) pick up the plot styles of their parent objects. So instead of a contour on layer V-TOPO-MAJR plotting with the layer settings of V-TOPO-MAJR, it follows the layer settings of C-TOPO, which is the layer containing the parent surface.
Is there a way to programmatically step through styles for surfaces, profile views, etc. and change the "ByBlock" setting to "ByLayer" in all styles?
Is there a way to set the drawing view to be associative or non-associative by default in my .idw template?

Just installed CAD 2012 LT...how can i get the array window we use to have on previous editions to work again on this edition? When i used to select array on the ribbon, a window was opening, and i choose what i wanted to do...but now,
No window appear, i tried to follow the command.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to set associative dimensions to be non-associative without exploding them?
I have a large drawing with a bucket load of dimensions. I did not realise until too late that my dimensions styles were set to be associative by default. Now whenever I alter the drawing such as breaking a polyline that a dimension is associated to the dimension sometimes goes haywire. If I select affected dimensions I can see in the properties window that the dimension is associative but the field is greyed out and I can't alter it.
Is there a global or per-object way to change this association? Exploding is not an option.
What is the concept and differences between associative and non associative hatch, dimension etc?

On a clean install without importing the users settings, the ribbon changes to to the array menu when the command is selected but if we import settings from a previous release it doesnt work.
All the other contextual menus like text editor and hatch menus work fine, seems to be just Array (I guess because its the only new one?)
Is there a way to get it working? I checked CUI and it appears under both Tabs and contextual Tab States, the settings seem the same as the others that are working?
Is there anyway I can catch the message or event when I begin to edit Mtext entity?Because I want to do something when the mtext began to input.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI put the three holes in the outer ears/lugs with a Polar Array and want to change their diameter to make them smaller. If try to use Delete Faces to remove the holes it drastically effects one of the other lugs.
Is there a better way to edit holes in an array and is there a way to make arrays non-associative after the fact of creating them? The dwg is saved in 2007 but created with 2013
We have been having a problem with our leaders for the last few weeks. We are running Acad2009LT and Acad2009 full versions. Our leaders are becoming non-associative. I made a drawing yesterday and was the only one editing the drawing. I made some leaders with text. I know they were working fine because I had to move some text and the leaders went with it. This morning when I opened the drawing. Some, not all, of the leaders that I made yesterday have become non-associative. I made some new leaders and they are working properly. Other people in the office have been having the same issue. Nothing has changed on our systems. We have been using the same program since 2009.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI want to make a grid that is adjustable by editing parameters. I want to change the size of the blocks. And i want to change the number of blocks in the x-direction and y-direction.
I have created a square with a width of 50mm and a height of 20mm. I have created 2 parameters called width and height. Next I added dimensions to the square and i call those dimensions width and height. Now I can adjust the width and height of the square by editing the parameters.
Next I want to copy this square in the x- and y-direction so that you get a grid. The number of copies in x-direction I call number-x. The same in the y-direction.
I then link the number-x and number-y to 2 parameters that i have named number-x and number-y.
The distance between the squares has to be the same as the size of the first square. Only then you get a grid. So i created parameters for this to. I call them width2 and height2.
Now I can adjust the size of the grid by editing these parameters. When i change number-x or number the grid becomes larger. But when i want to change the size of the initial square, it doesn't work. I think because of the fact that the first square has become a part of an array.
How to make a grid that is adjustable nu editing parameters in the parameters manager?
I would like to add additional entities to the selection if any of the selected entities contains a an xdata value.
If I put the condition into the ImpliedSelectionChanged reactor I imagine will probably loop back on itself.
I'm trying to use the PATH array feature on 2013 to array stairs, and I can't get the array to be 100% accurate. It seems like CAD rounds the decimal to the nearest 3/4" which could be causing the problem.
I set my run to 10.5" and rise to 7.25", array along the angle of the stringer, and there's always a small overlap on the stairs. The "distance between" should be 1'-209/256" and CAD rounds it to 1'-3/4" which is where I believe the error is. Is there any way to fix this or array this correctly? Otherwise...back to the COPY method I suppose.

It freezes the screen like the window is open but no window on the screen, almost like it opens off of the screen where you can not see it, the program has been reinstalled but still have the same problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am struggling to edit the standard set of blocks that comes with AutoCAD such as receptacles junction boxes etc. I want to edit the standard blocks and then save my changes for future use. Right now the blocks come in at different sizes then I would like. I try to edit them in the block editor however the changes I make do not apply to any other or new drawings that I make.
I have attached an image of the differing symbols and sizes. I want them to be consistently sized.
I cannot edit a dimension that I add to a drawing, IV simply ignores my request when I select Edit from the shortcut menu. This is not a retrieved dimension. My only workaround has been to edit the dimension properties in the part file to display as I would like on the drawings.
I've checked the application options, under Drawing tab, I do have "Edit dimension when created" checked, yet IV does not display the edit dialogue box upon initial creation of the dimension.
I created a pipe network using Civil 3D 2011 and we upgraded to 2012 in the middle of the process.
I've always been able to edit the MATERIAL of the pipe for (I like to add class and type in this column)
It worked fine in 2011 as you can see in the first image.
But in 2012, the material changes that I added in 2011 chow up, but I can't edit them or revise them.
it causes me to have to label my pipes in the label editor instead of assigning the material property in the pipe properties with-in my pipe network.

Is excel functionality part of an addin that I might have turned off accidentally?
I believe it was working in 2012 but haven't really noticed it not working till after Sp1 install till now..

If I zoom in on a small detail in a large sketch and then issue the "edit sketch" command Inventor changes the view to where the origin is visible on the screen. Is it possible to disable this?

of my SDMH not the center. I go into Edit Pipe Networks then the vista (table). I don't see a option to do that.
Is there a setting in the SDMH structure style or somewhere else?
As an example I come in at 6250.0 at inside a 48" MH and go out at 6251.0 at other side of MH.
I wanted to use a catch basin that shows the depressed curb & lip like the one in the Pipe Network Video
but it not in my parts Library even when I create a full parts list it still isn't there. Is ther a way to go on line and download part structures?
In 2010 and previous releases I recall being able to show the feature dimension by right clicking "Show Dimensions" and then being able to double click on any visible dimension and change its value. I don't see this behavior in 2012. Is there a setting to turn this on?
