After Effects :: Effect Control Windows Not Saved With Workspace
Dec 19, 2013
Why aren't multiple effect controls windows saved with a workspace?
I have many projects where I use a null as a controller with many sliders etc to control the animation of many layers. I open a couple of effect control windows and lock them with the contents of the controllers in them. Works great UNTIL I switch to a new workspace - even if it's based on the original and was saved with the effect control windows open in it. At that point, all effect control windows are removed.
I have to then re-open, position and select layer, lock etc - takes ages.
Why aren't the effect control woindows saved, even if they're empty, it would work as you'd expect it to.
I am having the problem that my saved workspace changes whenever I open Photoshop. I arranged everything as I need it to work and saved this workspace. As soon as I open PS again the basic structure is kept but the sizes of the windows change and therefore not everything is visible. This shows my saved workspace.
I have a workspace saved as Default.PSPWorkspace. Every time I start PSPX4 I have to select File > WorkSpace > Default.PSPWorkspace so that all the settings for Palettes and Toolbars are as I need them.
Is there any way to set a saved workspace to actually serve as the default without having to select it every time PSPX4 starts?
I have saved my individual workspace in the correct way, but when required, it is impossible to re-load the saved version. The only option I have is to re-create the whole individual workspace time and time again, whenever it gets lost. This is something I have noticed with all photoshop versions I have worked with, and I am now on CS6. How to re-load a saved workspace manually?
While I generally have moved to the new darker color scheme, I find that sometimes (depending on a number of factors), I like/prefer to work in the light color scheme.
It would be great if the color schemes could be assigned keyboard shortcut to toggle between themes, or if they could be saved in a Workspace.
Im having some color discrepancies in ps cs2. The colors that i see on my workspace(psd) are different from the colors that appear when i save the image. Check the screen grab for an example. This effect is way more pronounced on my screen.
I set up my file. I set my controls to where I want them. The Control Curves are in position. I save. Everything is going well. When I reopen the file, control curves have spontaneously moved. Without permission.I've done several experiments with different results, but the same problem: the control curve of my rig are moved from where I had them when I saved the file.
This happens in all versions I have been able to check in - CS5.5, CS6 & CC.
Repro: Import any footage to a new project - any resolution or frame rate. Create new composition from clip. Type in "Crop" in effects search Double click to load it. Result is an effect called "Wigglerama" & "transform" gets loaded instead of the required "Crop" effect
See attached image below - cannot believe I never saw this before
silly me I'm sure but I can't work it out. If I have a series of numbered images, say 30, numbered from 1 to 30 and I open them all at the same time the topmost image will beimage 30, the bottom most image 1. How can I reverse this order?
Even if I manually choose, say image 5, then close it PS automatically selects image 30 as the next active window.
I am running both PS CC and CS6 on my mac mini (late 2012, 2.3 i7, 16 GB ram). When I try to use the lighting effects filter on CC, it opens, and all the sliders in the properties box work, but without the tools to point and modify the light source. On CS6, lighting effects opens with the expected oval shaped tools and the intensity adjuster. I am assuming that it is not the Mac-mini, as it handles both versions, CC and CS6,Is this a bug in CC? I have searched and found nothing to this effect. I am assuming the video capabilities are adequate as the lighting effects option is not greyed out in either version. Also, I have made sure the image I am working on is in 8 bit mode.
I am having trouble with the Lighting Effects in Photoshop CS6. I can get a lighting effectt, but in the preview window, I cannot move the light (although I can select it), and there are no control options.
I am running CS6 on Windows 7 64-bit
I have looked through the discussion site and done everything suggested -- Adobe is up-to-date, as is my graphics card; I have changed the "Drawing Mode" from Basic to Normal to Advanced. (I do note that since I updated the Video Driver, the OpenCL option is now greyed-out. I'm not sure why.) I have copies of the relevant System Info below.
Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.1 (13.0.1.2 20130522.r.24 2013/05/22:21:00:00) x64 Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1 System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:7, Stepping:10 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1 Physical processor count: 2 Processor speed: 2793 MHz
I still can't control the keyboard shortcut commands in After Effects. Why is the command to duplicate different in photoshop and after effects? Doesn't adobes project managers work with each other? Or do the sections close their doors and do their own thing? The 3d space is different in every application they own.
is there a control to add a viewing window in a dialog so that the it shows a drawing such as a rectangle in the viewing window as you change the width and height in the dialog.
When I open lighting effects in CS6, there are none of the resizing/repositioning icons [controls, widgets, whatever you want to call them] that I see in all the tutorials (and remember from previous versions of Photoshop). The Lighting Effects Properties window opens on the right, but no amount of fiddling produces any change in the image. Even if I choose a preset, my image is still just a useless darkened version of its former self (and still no icons appear).
BTW, I am running Windows 7 on a quad core laptop with a supported video card (Radeon HD 6520G), so this problem should have nothing to do with that.
I'm attempting to animate a stroke similar to the the new Siri interface in iOS7...The stroke is fixed at both ends but bounces relative to the users voice. How I could possibly recreate this in Ae or even tutorials that exist that follow this same idea?
A video can be viewed on Apples iOS7 site URL.... Its the third phone down on the right.
I have a strange thing going on. I could swear there used to be the standard Browser control of - + and reduce box in the Top RH corner like in any window and every other adobe product. However, I got a virus it was hiding in Adobe reader. I believe I cleaned it as I scanned with two different virus companies. Both came up nothing found. Cleared my Temp folder, dumped trash after un installing AE. Re installed AE and still no window control?
Plus in my system start tray where my programs are where Adobe Master Collection Folder is I open that an my AE icon is a generic icon, although it will work as a shortcut.
The other thing is that it is evident in my task bar as a 'pinned icon' Here is a screen shot of AE with no + or - in top corner...
I have created a pic in Gimp with layers. When I save it to my desktop (layers merged), it does not appear either on the desktop or in Windows Explorer. If I try to save it again, it flags it as already existing. When I try to open the file in Gimp, it does appear on the desktop and can be opened; however, the file icons are grayed out. I'm assuming the grayed out icon means something.
What are the proper setting on windows xp control panel - printers & faxes - printing preferences, in order to be able to plot any size sheet in ACAD LT 2007? We are having to change the preferences in the windows control panel whenever we change from a d size sheet to an e size.
I edit a ton of parties with cross dissolves on most cuts. Being able to see the waveform in effect controls and match the bass kick or snare would save me hours of time and hundreds of key strokes.
I have read several other threads on this issue where the control overlays are missing when you go to Filter>Render>Lighting Effects. The "answer" from Adobe always seems to be, "updated your video card drivers."
I have a ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 560v for my Dell laptop running Windows 7 64bit. I have checked both through Dell and the ATI page and I have the latest drivers but Lighting Effects don't work properly. So now what?
I tried messing with the Preferences for Performance based on other posts. No luck. When I go to View>Extras>Show All I do then see the controls, however, the program freezes then crashes every time.
do I have to go back to CS4 to do all my lighting effects?
I am trying to create a windows form within iLogic. Everything works except the lines defining the location on the controls. I keep getting the following error: 'New' cannot be used on an interface. The error refers to lines in the code that try to set the control location on the form. (i.e. "button1.Location = New Point(10,10)") Ihave pasted the code below and have it attached as well. I am in Inventor 2013.

I recently saved an image on Photoshop CS6 as a PNG file so I could send it as an attachment to a client (who uses a Windows computer). They told me the file wouldn't open and instead showed as an "Unknown File".
I tried opening the file on my Windows computer, as well as a JPEG version to test out, but both came up as "Unknown Files".
The only way I could transfer the files I saved in Photoshop was to export them as PNG through the 'Preview' application.
Is there a reason why these normal formats won't open properly?
I am having a problem with opening some files in Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS5.1 Extended (Version 12.1) and have Windows 7 64 bit SP1 OS.
I am trying to open a few templates I made in PhotoShop for a client and they worked fine when I used them 3 weeks ago. All were saved as .psd documents. Now when I go to open them they no longer have the PS icon (to show they would be opened by PhotoShop). When I try to open them I get "Could not complete your request because it is not the right type of document." I have had this problem once before but it is confusing to me because 2 of the other similar .psd files I saved at the same timeframe(separate elements for the temlate) are perfectly fine, only the ones I need do not want to open.
I checked file properties and it claims these files are now Windows Shell Common Dll files.
I saved a photo book and while I was working on it it got closed by accident. Now I cannot open it back up into the photobook program I was working on it in. I can find the "photobook" in my saved files and when I open it, it separates each page as a file so I have to open each page separately and work on them instead of having the whole book to look at and then I can flip through the pages of the photobook and decide which page to put my photo on. I have typed this into all the help systems but nothing comes up.
When I open a .dwg file from a saved location auto cad crashes about 35% of the way through loading. I did not have this problem when I was running Windowws XP but now I am running Windows 7.
I'm running AE CS6 (on MBPro OS X 10.7.5) and I just re-opened a file made with AE CS4 that uses some BCC plug-ins which I haven't re-installed in CS6. I got an alert that some effects were missing from the project. I'd like to find out where the effects are used in the project so I can delete them and end the alert message's reign of terror. Is there a shortcut way of doing that or must I hunt through every layer manually?
I just downloaded 2013 Autocad for MAC and I can't manage to see my drawing toolbars and also don't know where to find workspace settings to change my workspace to autocad classic.
I am trying to go from the 3D Modeling workspace to the 2D workspace without the XYZ coordinate gizmo on the drawing screen (just want to see the XY ucs) to work in 2D format.
