3ds Max :: Symmetric Modeling - Adding / Removing Edge Loops While Preserving UVs

Any way to make symmetric mesh edits, ie adding/removing edge loops, while preserving your UVs? I have unique UVs for each side of the model, and I don't want to have to delete half of the mode, apply a symmetry modifier, then offset half of the UVs every time I need to make an edit to the model.

I know there is the insert edge tools, but I am looking to quickly add a variable number of edge loop either evenly spaced or sporadically space in one operation.

Maya Modeling :: How To Edit Symmetric Model With Non-symmetric UVs

I've created a model of a monkey in Maya. The model is symmetric along the X axis - however, the UVs are not.

I've just gotten to the stage where I'm rigging my model and discovered that I'm missing polygons for a finger joint on both hands. I'd like to insert some edge loops for this extra joint. I could do this by just adding the loops by hand, but if I do that, they'll be a little bit off and my model will no longer be symmetric. Alternately, I could delete the right half of my model, add the loops on the left half, and then mirror and merge my geometry. This would preserve the symmetry, but completely destroy the UV info on the right half of my model.

This seems like it would be a common modeling problem. Does Maya have a way I can add the extra cuts to my model, preserve symmetry and not force me to redo the UVs and texture map for my entire model?

Maya Modeling :: Selecting Range Of Edge Rings / Loops

I know how to use the various menu items to select rings and loops, and even understand that double-clicking will select an entire loop/ring, but how do I select a range of loops/rings?

After selecting the first edge, then double-clicking on a second only results with the entire loop/ring getting selected. A single-click will merely add the next selection to the first, but not fill in the range in between. This used to be more intuitive. What has changed? I've tried using additional keys to no avail.

3ds Max Modeling :: T-loops Spiraling Out Of Control

I'm having a huge issue in trying to prevent t-loops in my model. Every time I try the Cut and Loop technique to make more edges in the hopes of getting rid of the t-loops, the new loops keep "spiraling" if you know what I mean (in the attached image, the selected edges are the same line). As a result, more and more unwanted t-loops keep appearing and they have nowhere to connect and it prevents the model from working in Mudbox.

3ds Max :: Can't Select Edge Loops Created Using The Chamfer Tool

I can't select edge loops created using the chamfer tool. For example, add a cube (1 segment in all direction), convert to editable poly and select one edge, chamfer it a little bit to make it rounded, now there's clearly a loop of edges there, but it's not selectable by using the loop selection.

3ds Max Modeling :: Reducing Polycount While Preserving The Rig

I have a hi-rez figure that I'd like to lower the polygons on. I was wondering if it's possible to reduce the polycount on the character without destroying the rig.

I read somewhere that Optimizer would work for this. I this true? Is there another way to do it or will I have to rerig it?

Also, is it possible to preserve morphs as well? I know some of the points change so I can understand if it's not.

EDIT: It appears it doesn't work right off the bat. Is there a simple way to update the bone envelopes to the new geometry or do I have to reskin the entire mesh manually? (Seeing this, I know morphs will no longer work."

Photoshop :: Removing Person And Adding To Different Picture

How to make it blend in so you can't even tell it was Photoshopped into the picture. I use the magnetic lasso but there are always areas where it isn't smooth or part of the background is showing. Especially the hair.

On top of that it will be better or worse quality than the picture I'm adding it to. Or it will be darker or lighter, etc etc.

This is an old Kodak PCD image of a stained glass window converted to a TIF and a small portion made into a JPG for the purpose of this illustration. I would like to make 2 corrections:

1) I would like to accentuate the brush marks in the face. From my humble notions of PS I know that pulling the contrast slider across isn't really the answer but something like finding the fainter, darker pixels and accentuating them with some kind of mask is more the way to go.

2) There is an outdoor shadow that runs up the left hand side of the image which I would like to eliminate.

3ds Max Modeling :: Removing Overlapping Faces But Keeping Visible Top?

I'm building a tree prop that uses a push modifier to create the outside effect of the shape I want. The problem is that the Push modifier has pushed many faces into others... leaving a bunch of geometry "inside" the model... in essence leaving a larger polycount than needed and wasted.

i tried to draw a cross section view of the encircled area... as if you were looking up the cross section up the tree. I'm hoping to get the geometry to match the "desired" drawing.

Photoshop :: Blend Mode Removing Halo Around Edge Of Alpha?

I have a final image of my image to which I want to apply an alpha as a mask of an adjustment layer.

The image and the alpha have come out of 3ds Max. The problem is that there is a halo around the edge of the mask. This is caused due to transparency at the border of the alpha. I don't know how to get around this.

I was told that there may be a way to do it by dividing the alpha. I see that Photoshop CS5 has a divide blend mode. I don't have CS5.

Edge Animate CC :: Cleanup - Removing Unused Image Files?

I have used some image files as templates in my animation. There doesn't seem to be a way to remove the files without Edge squaking about those files missing. Even after I have removed all references to those files. What is the proper way to remove unwanted files completely from a Edge animate project? It was suggested that there is a right click, but this only shows you where the file is in the finder.
 
"File saved but Edge Animate encountered error(s): Failed to Copy Image: /Users/danjahson/Rain/Clients Work Folder/Nu Skin/Bespoke Moblie App/Intro & Reveal HTML Video/Bespoke_Intro/Bespoke_Intro_1/images/Intro_Template0012.jpg: No such file or directory"
 
This file is no longer in the animation - but it still asks for it. I cant seem to kill it.
 
I am on a mac with the latest version of Edge Animate (3.0.0.322.27519).

3ds Max Modeling :: Edge Is Locked On Axis

Using 2010. I'm trying to move an edge on the Z axis, but for some reason it refuses to go that way--nothing happens when I try dragging it down, and dragging it up causes it to go forward on the Y axis. This happened when I pressed something wrong on my keyboard I think. Resetting, restarting the program, etc doesn't work.
 
A few questions:

- How do I fix this?
- How did this even happen? When I Google ways to lock vertices/edges/etc, people are saying it can't be done.

I'm a beginner in Maya and have to model an object for college. I've modelled an iPhone 4 in Maya 2012 and I've added colour to it but i want to add an image to the screen face. I've added the image using lambert but the image is blown up and i don't know how to resize it. I've fiddled with the settings in '2d Texture Placement Attributes' but the only thing i've been able to do was rotate the image so it's not upside down, it's still blown up. Is there another editor window to resize it?

I've also tried using the UV Texture Editor but everything is a mess on top of eachother and everytime i move things around maya crashes . Is there any other way to add the image to the face?

i used to work a lot with polyboost and since the change from polyboost to graphite modeling tools, i built my own toolbars in max.to customize the interface, i found all the tools i needed in the polytools category.one big exception is even/odd selection presets (skip, nthselect / step), which i found an extremely useful edge-selection tool. i attach a screenshot of the polyboost tools rollout, where these settings could be found formerly. at the end of this message i also attach a dicription of these settings from the polyboost work. Where to find the command to launch this toolbox. or if this feature possibly was not included in the graphite modeling tools?

even
selects subobject-elements that have even numbers like 2,4,12 and so on. the "skip" spinner determines how many numbers to skip between the even numbers, so a value of 1 will select elements numbered 2,4,6,8 and so on. a value of 2 will select elements numbered 2,6,10,14 and so on.
shortcut: when used as a shortcut this tool will default to 1 as a skip value.

odd

nth sel
selects the next even or odd numbered element in the model. because of the way the numbers are laid out in a basic primitive in max, this will in a way duplicate the selection further down the element numbers. the "STEP" spinner determines how big the jump is to the next selection. if the "reverse(rev)" checkbox is checked the selection will be created in the opposite way, and if the "move" checkbox is checked the selection will not be duplicated, but moved instead.

Edge Animate CC :: Adding A ColorPicker ComboBox

I watched a tutorial on Youtube about using Edge Animate to allow interactive color changes on an SVG image.  In the youtube video he had 3 or 4 color swatches that he would select from to change the colors to.  However I have a much bigger color chart I would like to offer and about 18 different groups on the SVG that can change in color.  I am hoping to be able to offer a drop-down box of color swatches with a combo box that says the name of the color swatch so that when they have the design the way they want they can copy the color swatch/SVG group name and include in their order. 
 
I have found some different code on the Internet but I don't know how to implement it in Edge Animate.  Can you show me an example of how to add a ColorPicker ComboBox where I can add my own color swatches to it?  I want the ColorPicker to be something that I can use again and again for every design.
