3ds Max :: 2013 - Isolate Selection Is A Toggle?
Apr 16, 2012
Another worsening thing in 2013: The isolate selection is a toggle
It's impossible to use isolate selection one after another to get deeper in complex models with many objects? Did I miss something?

While remapping shortcut keys, I came across the default Alt-G: Geometry Selection Visibility Toggle.
What does it do? I can't see it changing anything.

I frequently used the ctrl key shortcut in illustrator on a PC to temporarily use the selection tool last used. This still works in CC, but I used to be able to toggle selection tools by keeping ctrl held down as before and then toggle selection tools (selection tool - black arrow, and direct selection tool - white arrow) by tapping the shift key. The tool description in the very bottom of the window shows "toggle selection" when I do this, but the toggle selection tool doesn't actually occur.

Any way to select art (on a artboard) and then use toggle the selection of the layers in you want to.... lets say colect in a layer? Collect in Layer is a command in the Layers panel flyout. It seems so tiedious to have to select each layer manualy that you have selected already on the artboard.

How do I get the last input to come up when pressing the up arrow key? Say I'm drawing a line & input @10,10. When I press the up arrow, the coordinates come up. How do I get @10,10 to come up? I've changed it before, but I can't remember how & I can't think of what to search for.

Somehow I activated a mode where when I click on an object, if there are several objects there, it will bring up a little menu to pick which one I want, similar to Inventor if you hover or say "Select other...". How do I toggle this mode? Turns out I like it sometimes but usually I don't need it.

I am looking for a way to change the toggle polar On/Off from F10 to F6. I already did it with the "delete" and the "Ortho" keys but i can't find the macro for the toggle polar on/off.
Has you can see on the picture for Delete it's ^C^C erase;
For ortho it's ^O
Maybe for Polar it's ^P but i could validate with you before i do any changes. (;

In Autocad 2012 the white cursor automatically toggles to black when moved onto the white background of paperspace. This does not occur in 2013. Imported the sysvaribles from 2012 into 2013. Cursor still does not toggle.

Just reading about the new Isolate Layers feature in CC, and wondering how it is different from Alt(Opt) clicking a layer icon to turn everything else off, or doing the same thing with a bunch of layers Grouped?

Earlier this week I mentioned on Google+ that I discovered something about gimp that was pretty huge, something that would change how I edit photos forever.
Since then, I've been determined to figre out how to boil this small bit of information, and show you just how much this can work for layer masking and isolating backgrounds, especially in the studio scene and landscape photography. I finally decided to simply do what I do best - record a gimp video tutorial using the method that I discovered, and share it with everyone.
Click here for the gimp video tutorial.

I'm using Autocad 2011 and When I'm working in a viewport in paper space, I isolate a layer, work on it, then unisolate it, CAD will automatically turn off (with the lightbulb) all the other layers that I'm not using in that current viewport. This means that every time I'm done editing a certain viewport, I have to go back to my model space, and turn back on all the rest of the layers in my drawing (with the lightbulb) so I can work in a different viewport with different layers. Is this just a bug in my version? or is there some way to stop this?

Can we have an option in the Options/Selection tab in AutoCAD to "Use CTRL to add to selection"?
Essentially, so that I can set up AutoCAD to select objects in the same way that Revit does.
At the present time, when I switch back to AutoCAD from Revit, it's easy to forget when I've got objects off screen selected when I select a new object to modify. Having the option to set both packages to operate the same would be good.
Unfortunately, this won't stop me from trying to use AutoCAD keyboard shortcuts when I'm using Revit

I have about 125 RAW files of random objects that were shot against an white background in a homemade light box.
My goal is simple, to isolate the objects against a completely white background whilst still maintaining the shadow of the object (if possible). I have been using Lightroom 4 and a lot of brushes to complete such a task, but I know there is a simpler way to accomplish this with Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS6.
Here are what I think are the three most tricky pictures:

I have created a sphere and mapped some type around it. However, I can't figure out how to knock out the sphere to 'clear' so I ONLY see the type and not the sphere (I'm placing the type on top of something else). I've done some searching online with no success.

I have an array of all the same block with a few attributes. All attributes need just slightly different data (like incrementing numbers). It is extremely tedious to select the block, enter the data, cancel the selection and then select the next block. Is there an easy way to select all the blocks up front and then modify them one at a time by "cycling through the selection"? I'm specifically looking for a key-command that will de-select the current block and select the next one so I can stay in my properties window.
It's also worth mentioning that I'm on LT and there aren't enough blocks to make ATTOUT/IN worth it (or possible).

The answer to this post is not the pickfirst variable. I select text, a line, anything really then right click, copy and nothing it loses the selection set and waits for me to now select something. I know it sounds like pickfirst, but pickfirst is set to 1.

I want to crop several images in same aspect ratio.So I checked "Fixed" option and set proper values in tool box.
And sometimes I want to complement image with background color if selectionis larger than original size. In this case, I add a larger layer bottom of the image and crop it.
But it would better if I can do it by one action.Therefore I'm trying to write a script-fu for it, but I'm stuck now.
Because a function `gimp-selection-bounds` returns points only inside ofthe image even if the selection is outside of image.
Is there a way to get bounds of selection outside of a image by usingscript-fu?
