AutoCAD 2013 :: Cursor Color Toggle In Paperspace?
Aug 20, 2012
In Autocad 2012 the white cursor automatically toggles to black when moved onto the white background of paperspace. This does not occur in 2013. Imported the sysvaribles from 2012 into 2013. Cursor still does not toggle.

I have a mac. I am trying to change the background color in paperspace from the eye straining white to a neutral grey. Everywhere I search I am told that the answer is in options>display and then change it to what ever you want. However, mac has preferences instead of options and no display tab. And in all the tabs i do have, there is no obvious alternative.

Is there a way to change the cursor color in the command line in AutoCAD 2013?
When I change the background (active command) to black, the cursor blends into it and not visible. Can’t see where is my current position when editing coordinates. The command background was black and text white for the last 10 years for 20 drafters; we would like to keep it this way

How do I get the last input to come up when pressing the up arrow key? Say I'm drawing a line & input @10,10. When I press the up arrow, the coordinates come up. How do I get @10,10 to come up? I've changed it before, but I can't remember how & I can't think of what to search for.

Somehow I activated a mode where when I click on an object, if there are several objects there, it will bring up a little menu to pick which one I want, similar to Inventor if you hover or say "Select other...". How do I toggle this mode? Turns out I like it sometimes but usually I don't need it.

I am looking for a way to change the toggle polar On/Off from F10 to F6. I already did it with the "delete" and the "Ortho" keys but i can't find the macro for the toggle polar on/off.
Has you can see on the picture for Delete it's ^C^C erase;
For ortho it's ^O
Maybe for Polar it's ^P but i could validate with you before i do any changes. (;

when it comes to viewports in paperspace in 2013, due to the nature of my work i have several layout drawings all drawn on top of each other and all with ther own txt and dims etc, which again is all on top of each other making it impossible to work in model space, for this reason i work in paperspace within a viewport but now i have upgraded to 2013 while i am in mid command e.g. dimension and zoom into first point then zoom back out and in again to second point, by this time i have been kicked out of the viewport and just in paperspace so cant complete the command, doesnt always happen?

AutoCAD 2010.
In paper space you can change the background color to black to show layout. This is done in tools -options - Display tab - color.
Is there a way to change the default light gray color that extends beyond the layout perimeter? I would like to change if form the default light gray to a darker color. For example a dark gray?

I am having a little trouble with the paperspace in autocad 2013, I am running windows 8. As shown in the attachment the paper underlay is missing or I dont understand the new process. I want to draw viewports that fit onto the specified paper size(A1). Without the digital picture of the paper under the viewport I dont know where to draw the viewport.

how you get objects, say i drew a rectangle, to the correct size from model space to paper space. And why when you change the dimensions of an object to meters from milimeters, does it not change the size of the object on paperspace when it's at the same scale.

I have just upgraded to 2013 from 2012. When dimensioning my viewports in paperspace, I will snap using the linear or aligned dimension and it will appear to snap to the first point, but when I snap on the other end, it will go somewhere way off the viewport or give me a "0" dim.

The color of the paper space outside of the page layout is a gray-white very bright that would not allow the white lines and white letters to be seen. I have looked at the Options dialog to see if that color can be changed, but I could not find the name of that area outside the per layout ( I have my paper layout to black, which is fine, but I do not know how to change the areas outside the paper). This bright color came with AutoCAD 2012.

We have just loaded AutoCAD 2013 from previously using Version 2012, and I am experiencing a very distubing phenomenon. While manipulating the commands in any vieport window in Model Space, the program automatically 'jumps' into Paper Space causing an interruption in work-flow, and losing any command which was in progress during the time. For example, if a number of objects were copied with the intention of placing them elsewhere within the same or another paper space window in 'model space' , the program would jump to paper space and the items would be lost, with the necessity of selecting them all over again. This can happen several times in a row.

When I attach a titleblock as an xref in paperspace, it is not lined up on my page that I have set up. It attaches to the upper right hand corner of my screen and I have to manually move it on top of my paperspace. I know there is a way to have them automatically line up.

I am working on a rendering on vanilla AutoCad 2013, and I am getting frustrated with having to reset my viewport to the named view every time I move my camera.
I know that when you create a viewport you can call up a named view, but is there any way to link it permanently?

HP Z400 Workstation
6GB of RAM
296GB HDD
ATI FirePro V5700(FireGL)

Another worsening thing in 2013: The isolate selection is a toggle
It's impossible to use isolate selection one after another to get deeper in complex models with many objects? Did I miss something?

I've got a block that I want to scale in pspace, but I would like the attrib height to remain constant even at different scales. I have used annotative blocks in vports with much success, but I would like to do the same thing only in pspace.

A few times out of each day when I plot all of my viewports will be moved of the printable area into the gray area below in paperspace.
I cannot figure this out as I have used a few different profiles from different machines and still have the same issue.

My group and I are getting an infrequent but annoying problem with Model Documentation (MD) generated views in paperspace layout tabs. We all on autocad 2013, with sp1.1 installed on x64 machines.
We are seeing objects/ blocks showing in the MD views (viewbase created) in the layout that are no longer in model space. One common factor in this is that these objects seem to always be externally referenced (xref) files that have been either unloaded or completely detached (both cases purges preformed afterwards to wipe any remaining blocks made no difference). In this latest case the ghost objects show up twice (we needed 2 of the same xref) at what appears to be the correct old coordinates.
We have no work around for this and when this occurs we either have to revert to an older version from vault or create a new dwg, port all information over and recreate all views. The interesting thing about this problem is that if we revert to an older version from vault, the ghosts do not reappear/ reoccur at the same commands they appeared at previously.

This has been occurring numerous time more than it should. While in a drawing mid command, panning, typing anything pretty much my cad freezes. The rest of my computer is fine everything works properly but CAD is frozen and when i bring my pointer into the program it disappears. I can even open cad up again and the old CAD will stay open. It shows the drawings i have open on the tab bar and i can’t close out of them. I have a computer that’s more than capable to work properly.

So I was working in 3D and I guess I pressed some kind of button or something that caused my 3D cursor to only move along the x=0 line. If I move my cursor up, it moves it lightly sideways. It stops when I move into side/top/front views, but as soon as I pan into 3D view, the cursor only appears along the x-axis. I'm probably overlooking a simple AutoCAD command, but I'm a new user and I can't find the answer anywhere in the manual or on the internet.

Everything works fine until the center of my cursor passes over a 3d solid, the cursor then disappears, the spinning circle icon spins for sometimes minutes, and the display greys over, and I cannot click 'ESC' or Ctrl + C to abort this cycling. I have to wait, sometimes 30 secs, sometimes 2 minutes for it to stop freezing and the screen returns to normal.
As I work in 3d solids a lot, this makes Acad 2013 unusable to me. Acad 2007 was not an issue with this problem I still have it installed as I have to revert back to 2007 to do anything with 3d solids in it.
