I have just upgraded to 2013 from 2012. When dimensioning my viewports in paperspace, I will snap using the linear or aligned dimension and it will appear to snap to the first point, but when I snap on the other end, it will go somewhere way off the viewport or give me a "0" dim.
View 1 RepliesSince I installed 2010, I noticed that OSNAP seems to want to snap to objects in model space that are outside of the viewport while I am in paper space. It seems to only happen with polygonal viewports.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen working in 3d the crosshairs seem disappear off the screen when i have zoomed in too far, as iff the crosshairs are located on 0 in the z access.
Also, and this could be related, when i try to snap to anything in the vertical it always snaps to 0 in the z axis. This makes it impossible to move anything vertacally by snapping.

When I make a layout with a part of my drawing in a viewport, I switch over to paperspace to draw dimension lines in it. Although the layout is displayed in another scale (e.g. 1:100) it puts the right dimensions at the drawing.
But now a problem appears:
With one of my drawings the layout does not put the right dimensions at the drawing in paperspace. I really don't know what went wrong. Strange dimensions appear, as if there must be a strange scale factor somewhere. (Dimlfac=1)
When using dimensions in paperspace i get the paperspace distances. Not those of the object i've drawn in model space.
f.e.: if i draw a line of 100 mm in model, and my zoom e on it in a viewport of 420, I'll get the distance 420. Like the dimension is not interacting with the model, see? Thought it would have something to do with the snapping, but can't find the link.
When I try to dimension my drawing in paperspace the dimensions are coming back as inches instead of the many feet that the drawing actually is. My viewport scale is 1/4" to 1' and ive done many other drawings without ever running into this problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe do a lot of labeling in paper space and have been encountering a problem with our dimension command mislabeling lengths and widths. Please see attached DWG. The road width should be 24' and its labeling it 880'. BUT measuring hoizontally it seemed to work fine. Really strange.
I am using the dimension command and snapping nearest and perpendicular. If I just click without using osnap it seems to work.
We tried using the DIM / DIMFLAC / V / and selectiong viewport
The funny thing is that I dont have this problem with every drawing. Just some seem to have this glitch.
In paperspace I have a left and right view. If i dimension something in left view it appears backwards in right. do i need to duplicate geometry for right view to dimension it there also? or is there a way to fix the reversed dimension?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a little drawing in modelspace. in paperspace, i have a viewport. let's say it's set at 1/4" = 1'-0". everything looks okay so far.
i click on the 'annotate' tab, and then select 'annotative' for my dimension style. it has the little triangle icon thingy so it should be annotative.
i make a couple of simple linear dimensions on my drawing (still in paperspace). looks okay so far.
but now lets say i want to change the scale of my drawing. i change it from 1/4" to 1/2" = 1'-0". my drawing gets bigger, but the dimensions stay the same size and position. they're no longer attached to anything on my drawing.
then i change the scale again, let's say back to 1/4" scale. my drawing shrinks, but as soon as it's back to it's original size, the dimensions now suddenly get twice as big and are where they should have been at 1/2".
and it continues like that, when i change my scale, the dimensions change to whatever the last scale was at, so that they're never synced up.

Dimensions placed in paperspace that are scaled by the viewports, change on their own. This happens at no apparent frequency. And for no apparent reason.
This has happened after I've saved a drawing and reopened. Also has happened when I've moved or stretched a viewport.
Currently I am using Autocad 2012, but this has been happening for some years.
Modeling 1:1 in MS, dimensioning in PS different scaled viewports. Plotted from PS, did further work both in MS/PS and notice dimension readings have scaled up by 99.98% and 100% to what they were in hard copy. Changed dims in properties but for some reason they have reverted back to the percentage increase? For example I have a 5745mm truss span that is now a 574.5 meter spanning truss!!?? Haven’t altered dimstyle at all or any scalings. Laid another dimension again in PS along side the exaggerated one using same endpoints in order to check things and it’s fine.
Would like to know what has caused the dims to scale up in PS and, how to undo the problem, hoping not to have to re-dimension.
Attached is the dwg. and yes, I have dimensioned in MS but there was a reason. It’s PS that’s causing the grief.
I am in paperspace applying dimensions to views. When making a new Mview and scaling the view all the diensions move to locations all over the drawing. Does something selected in the options I am not aware of?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn earlier releases of Acad, when Dimensioning, I could bring a new dim inline with an existing dim and the with using osnap align the new dim with the existing dim. With 2013, I can not get the osnap pick box to appear on the existing dim to be able to keep all my dims inline.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile using V2013, the middle button on the mouse to pop up the snap chart (mbuttonpan set to 0), I'm getting the zoom extents command in the middle of a command using snap from, then snap endpoint.
Here a quick example: while using hotkeys, I type c for copy-select objects-right click-choose basepoint, (here's where the problem occurs), middle mouse F(from) middle mouse E (endpoint). If I middle mouse F (snap From) pause then middle mouse E (snap endpoint) this works as it should. I click through the commands fast and it's slowing me down every time it zooms to extents in the middle of the command, which makes me zoom back in or cancel & undo.
What distinction is between “intersection” and “apparent intersection” in snaps,. I’m not sure what difference is between the “intersection” and “apparent intersection” in snaps.

I use the right mouse click command as my enter. But for the past couple of days when I try to use the move, copy, stretch commands, everytime I go to select a base point - autocad selects the point and then automatically snaps or displaces to a random point off of the screen. I don't know if this has something to do with the right mouse click or not, but I can't figure out why it keeps snapping off screen. If I switch and use the enter key or space bar as enter the problem goes away.

when it comes to viewports in paperspace in 2013, due to the nature of my work i have several layout drawings all drawn on top of each other and all with ther own txt and dims etc, which again is all on top of each other making it impossible to work in model space, for this reason i work in paperspace within a viewport but now i have upgraded to 2013 while i am in mid command e.g. dimension and zoom into first point then zoom back out and in again to second point, by this time i have been kicked out of the viewport and just in paperspace so cant complete the command, doesnt always happen?

Everywhere I search I am told that the answer is in options>display and then change it to what ever you want. However, mac has preferences instead of options and no display tab. And in all the tabs i do have, there is no obvious alternative.

As shown in the attachment the paper underlay is missing or I dont understand the new process. I want to draw viewports that fit onto the specified paper size(A1). Without the digital picture of the paper under the viewport I dont know where to draw the viewport.

While manipulating the commands in any vieport window in Model Space, the program automatically 'jumps' into Paper Space causing an interruption in work-flow, and losing any command which was in progress during the time. For example, if a number of objects were copied with the intention of placing them elsewhere within the same or another paper space window in 'model space' , the program would jump to paper space and the items would be lost, with the necessity of selecting them all over again. This can happen several times in a row.

I've got a block that I want to scale in pspace, but I would like the attrib height to remain constant even at different scales. I have used annotative blocks in vports with much success, but I would like to do the same thing only in pspace.

I cannot figure this out as I have used a few different profiles from different machines and still have the same issue.
