Xara :: Changing Two Points

I have found finally one of the "not so changeable" lines that bugged me.I believe it's not really a filled unclosed object. Xara draws the line always, but the segment seems not to exist. And I was not able to close it or change it, only deleting it worked. Here is what I've done:

1. Create an "X" with the text tool, using the font "Abbess".
2. Increase it so it has about 400 pixels width.
3. Convert it to editable shapes.
4. With the shape editor select all points.
5. Put the smooth slider to 100%.

Now the upper left of the X has two points that seem to stick togother, even if you just want to select one of them. But then I was able to drag one away and increase the line. But I could not change it to a curve or anything.
