Xara :: How Many Control Points Are On Object In Designer Pro As Default
Dec 4, 2011
what does it depends that how many control points are on an object in Designer Pro as default?
For example in Shape Tool creating a horizontal line (click and somewhere beside CTRL - click), at me it creates control points at the end of the lines plus two ones on the line.
That is super anyway because immediately can be seen where is the 33% of the line length, but could be set somehow this that how many control point should be as default?
"AVI animation frame rate control You can now set the AVI frame rate of exported animations, and the animation preview window now has thumb track control on a timeline."
I didn't want to migrate to Pro 6 when it was released, I was stuck with Xtreme Pro 5 (5.x something) for years. I got myself Designer Pro 7 some days ago and it's much faster, so decided to give it a try.
I've designed tons of things with the product family and I have my habits. OK, some things are different here, most can be customized, it's just a bit annoying/frustrating process, but anyway. Thing I cannot modify (nor can find registry hack for it, I already had to tackle registry for end line selection blobs, that's crazy) is following: for the way I design, I really have need for constant use of zero width line.
Know about zero width line, I've been using successfully for ages and when doing freehand drawing, it's much easier for me to have zero width, then convert it to what's necessary (or create shapes out of it).
However, if I put it to 0, and I start new freehand line, it goes to 0.5pt by default. I can start line at 0.5pt, then get it down to 0, and it works, as long as it's the same line. However, as soon as new line is needed, it reverts back to 0.5pt. If I select 0.1 (manually) or even 0.01 or whatever, it does work. But not with zero. Any chances to modify that, either in Xara or in registry?
I like the antialiased lines, for my own reasons and makes it easier for me to design.
I know how to go in to my settings and change the default page settings on a new design, but I want my settings to ALWAYS come up with the settings I change them to. How do I set these so that every time I start Xara I don't have to go change the settings AGAIN?
If I create a text object, then copy and duplicate, how do make the width of the duplicate text smaller whilst maintaining the length of the object. I have worked out that I can use borders around text to create a smaller version however the effect is not suffice.
Effectively what I want to achieve is the 'feather' effect that reduces the width but retain the overall shape and dimension without any distortions.
Is there any way to control which is the dominant object when aligning? Or, to establish to which object the others align? Like in CorelDraw. It seems quite arbitrary: some times all the objects move but on occasion only one moves. I can' see any system to apply.
I have a couple points that were part of an import event (data from a previous project) which I want to assign as control points for an incoming traverse, is there any way to assign those as control points? I can't seem to find a way to do that other than perhaps re-importing the specific points as control points and overwriting the existing ones.
When we export a DES to WMF with embedded bitmaps in the source document and using the VB macro call ExportEx(), the bitmaps are saved as .BMP files. We would prefer to have the embedded bitmaps saved as JPG files.
And I am not a VB programmer so a few sample code lines would say a lot.
What is the easiest way to open/import SVG files in Xara Designer Pro?
It's funny you can export as SVG but I cannot find SVG format when importing graphics.
My current workaround is to open SVG files in Illustrator, select, copy, jump over to Xara and paste as enhanced metafile. But what if I don't have Illustrator?
When ever I export to PDF from Designer Pro 7 a graphic ends up in the PDF file that isn't any where in the Xara doc. It happens on most files exported from Xara but not all. It also happens on both my laptop and my desktop PC. I'm pretty sure it used to happen in WD6 so it may stem from there.
I've attached a PDF exportd from Xara, you shouild hopefully see two black.. um.. cartoonish feet / foot prints. God knows where they came from, I must have imported them at somepoint. You should also notice they only appear on the first page of a document.
I've tried searching for just outlines in Designer pro but nothing.
Is there an .INI file or cache file I can clear?
I haven't tried a re-install yet as it happens on two PC's so can't see it being that.
does the new xarapro have a linked feature for placing 300 dpi images into a 50-60 pages? If not, is it even possible to have that many pages with those numbers of large size pictures? Just wanted to know if others have done such a thing. Also if possible, can a large document be divided into number of xara files and then exported as pdf and put together in adobe acrobat to make a large output for printers?
I noticed that when exporting a trifold to PDF, that a transparent PNG file contained in the design, actually has an opaque background, not transparent. I have used Commercial Printing as the export mode and played a little with custom settings.
If I type some text, then select the 'Selector Tool', then use the middle 'bounds handles' to resize.I would expect the text to be stretched. But, what I get is resizing in both horizontal and vertical directions. As if I was using the corner 'bounds handles'.
It works as I would expect in Designer Pro X.Is there a setting I've missed somewhere?
i am just testing Designer Pro X 9 (have Pro X) and when trying to locate PS Plugin folder, i get the window "currently no 64Bit (8bf) support" "choose the 32Bit Version". I have Av. Bros. plugins, which are also available in 64 Bit.
how do you change the tool bar buttons to small buttons? The options are all greyed out! I am old but not that blind yet. This is a work stoppage, and abandon software problem for me.
I noticed that animated gif that I put into other web builders load fine, show cleanly.Yet when put into XDP6, the same graphics get a ghosting effect. In other words, after letters have cleared the screen, a remaining unintended outline remains. The graphics are clean in previews, viewing directly, using other web builders, or on other sites built with other software.
Today I visited the New Features page for X3D7 and had the same issue with the gif on that page too. (attached screenshot for reference)I am using win7/64bit, 8gb ram, hi-speed internet connection, don't have anything set in the browser and no browser "helper" that is adjusting image quality. This problem is only seen in Internet Explorer, not Firefox. Is there a setting in XDP that needs to be adjusted so this doesn't happen?
I am wanting to use XDP as a desktop publisher and can't see any hints on table creation. There are lots of other useful word processing functions but not tables AFAICS.
When I try to run Xara Designer Pro 7 I get a window popup that tell me "The program could not be started. It's possible that the installation folder is damaged." with the error code: -6
No matter what I try I get that error. I tried with a new doawnloaded file, with the file from the CD, after to have removed files on the Intel SSD or hard drives, and keys in the registry (but maybe i missed some!). I also tried with or without system protections/firewall/antivirus as well with or without administrator rights.
My system is Windows 7 64 bits with Xara designer pro 7.1.1.
I exported a swf file to my computer, which i made with Xara designer 10. I would like to re-edit the file but don't know how to open it again in Xara. How do I do that?
I have just upgraded to P&G Designer7 from Xara Xtreme 3.I had problems ungrouping layers.Maybe others have experienced the same difficulty.
Grouping layers is easy, of course. Shortcut CTRL+G, moves all parts to just one layer.
Ungrouping is not so easy.CTRL+U does NOT revert things to your previous multiple layers. If you've saved saved your file, next time you have to tediously re-create all your previous layers from scratch.CTRL+Z does revert to multiple layers, just as long as you haven't already saved the document.
Designer Pro is an excellent program for digital scrapbooking, with it's all in one abilities everything a digital scrapbooker needs is right here! Even the web design features are very useful for creating complete albums that you can share online or privately with friends or family.
XDP comes with a few nice scrapbook sets, and adding stuff you may already have or stuff you find from some of the many scrapbooking sites around the web is as simple as adding folders to your designs gallery for papers, embellishments alphabets, and word art.
I'm thinking of doing a regular scrap booking posting (I'm not sure yet how often, it will depend on my schedule and interest in the topic) some of the things that I may post will be tips, short tutorials, and Freebies!
For today I have a quick and simple layout template for you. Simply select the photo object in the center and drag and drop your photo file right into the layout. The background "paper" is simply a rectangle with a seamless tile that I created in just a couple of mins. The heading is a simple layered effect that is soft grouped so you can easily change the text and even the font. The embellishments are just a few photo clipart objects from one of the sets that comes with Designer Pro.
