I have a problem with VS X3 due to the fact that the burner crashes. I have made some DVDs with it previously. I have loaded VS X4 trial version and that will burn the DVD. I do not feel that I should buy the new version just to get the burner. The error message is:

I am using the trial version of vx4. All is ok until I go to the create dvd page. The burner drive has no device listed. Create to disc is shaded out. I am able to burn discs with other programs.

DVD burner is in use for another program error (or something like that)
I've never had this error in my life, and I've been using the same laptop for about 3 years, with 2 or 3 versions of VideoStudio.
Should I just uninstall 5? Or can I "restore" my computer back to two weeks ago?
The file I was working on, I also saved as a VideoStudio 4 file in case 5 doesn't work.
I didn't uninstall 4 before loading 5. I tried to uninstall 4 last night, but it didn't uninstall all the way. Maybe if I reload 4, then uninstall it?
I can't think of any programs that use the burner that I use on that machine either.
I really need to make a DVD by saturday--it's my fiancee's bridal shower. The one I tried to make last night was to test it and make sure it worked on my future sister-in-law's TV before the shower. But that didn't happen unfortunately.
Why does the wizard say the burner is busy for another application every time I click the burn icon. How do I get the thing to burn a project!

Is there something in the system tray that I need to delete as a project not completed? I do not know how to clear out this problem. Maybe something not finished from Lightscribe?
Projects do not finish burning to DVD. After I have finished editing my video I try to create disc using DVD format. Project completes video rendering but doesn¡¦t complete writing to disc. It stops half way. Then a message pops up saying ¡§The burner is busy for another application.¡¨ I press ok and another message comes up: ¡§The drive is busy or is being used by other applications. Please make sure the drive is ready, close all applications that may be using the drive (including folder windows), and try again. [534:-2147216300:0]¡¨

If it completes, it will make that and not restart a completed job. I have also seen is restart suspended jobs on a reboot too. This is all on Windows 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes (only every now and then), when I try to render a project to AVI VS instantly crashes. Lets say I have three projects, project1, project2 and project3. Project1 & 3 will render to AVI just fine, every time. Project2 will crash every time I try to render to AVI. I can render any of the projects to MPG, MP4, WMV, whatever else I want. If I recreate project2 from scratch as Project4, it will then render to AVI just fine. If I remove >>EVERYTHING<< from all timelines in project2, then add a new clip that did not exist before, it crashes when rendering to AVI. Project2 contains both AVI and MPG clips created/captured with VS X3 just a couple of days prior. VS X3 has all the latest updates.
When I say render to AVI I mean I select Share->Create Video File->Custom->AVI and leave it at the default of 24bits, 720x480, 29.97fps, Lower Field First, Uncompressed, PCM, 48.000kHz, 16bit, Stereo. Video on the timeline includes MPEG-2, Lower Field First, 24bits, 720x480, 16:9, 29.97fps, VBR, LPCM, 48000Hz, 16bit stereo and Microsoft AVI OpenDML, 29.97fps, 30532.12kbps, uncompressed, 24bit, 720x480, PCM, 48000Hz, 16bit, Stereo.Although this is a rare occurance, it is a real pain to have to recreate the video from scratch every time this happens.
The computer is a new Windows 7 Pro 64bit, Core2Duo E7500, 4GB Kingston HyperX RAM, 750GB WD Black SATA, Radeon X1550, Asus P5QL/EPU, Pioneer SATA DVD+/-RW, Antec 380 power Supply. Windows has all updates, AV is Microsoft Security Essentials, software installed includes VS X3, Adobe PS Elements 8, Super Video Converter, Office 2010, Nero 8 Essentials, Microsoft Expression Web 3, QTIndexSwapper2, Filezilla, Audacity, Adobe Reader 10 and supporting software that those applications install.
I installed a trial version of Pro X5 with Windows 7. Almost every time I try to capture video it crashes.
Camera is a Sony HDR-HC5E. The only format I am offered is MPEG. Sometimes it begins to capture, other times there is no picture on screen and nothing is captured, most times I get a NOT RESPONDING warning and Video Studio just freezes. Sometimes it works but very rarely!. I have reloaded X5 three times.

since I installed vsx4 I can't capture in vs x3 too.
First, it took several days just to get it to install. It finally installed after a sys restore and I was off and running. I really liked the package, especially Express. I played with it for a day, liking it more and more, and then all of a sudden it says " Corel has stopped working". Does this when I trying to do anything. Last thing I did was edit a few old clips and put them back in the folder with the originals (renamed). Could this have caused it? This is getting to be a High Maintanence program.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased Ulead Video Studio 10 for my son about 4 or 5 years ago and installed it on his Vista machine. When first installed, it worked great. After a few months, it began freezing and/or crashing his computer. I was unaware that he was having problems. He just kept rebooting and then continued until his project was completed, or just got frustrated and quit the project.
When I discovered he was having these issues, we found and ran the available Ulead patches, which improved things a bit for a while. Then, having issues again shortly thereafter, we upgraded to Video Studio 11, which again improved things for a short while. He has been unable to complete a project within the last year. Video Studio is at a point now where it freezes constantly and Vista pops up the message “Ulead has stopped working” with a “Close Program” Button. Sometimes it takes 10 or 20 minutes to freeze, sometimes it freezes instantly and sometimes in between.
I've been using VSX4 for about 4 weeks without any problems, aside from the very occasionaly crash. The last time I used it was three days ago.
I've tried to use it today to find it crashes at startup every time. I have restarted my PC several times to no avail. As far as I can recall, I have not installed anything in the last three days, or updated drivers.

VideoStudio PRO X3 crashes very often when rendering a VSP-file (with m2ts videofragments) that contains also transions and text.
It happens when I want to create a HD-file (PAL, Blu-ray /MPEG or H.264/ 1920*1080). Disabling SmartRender did not work. Also setting off hyperthreading did not solve the problem.
The problems do not occur when the VSP-file only contains m2ts fragments.
The recommendations given by Corel Helpdesk (download & install VS updates, C++ and DirectX updates) were not very useful because I had already implemented the most recent updates
My current version of VS PRO X3 is 1.6.2.69.

So I had VS x3 and it started to give me serious problems, i.e. no longer able to export to MPEG-HD, So now I have X4 thinking it would resolve my issues, but no. Now I cannot even launch X4, as soon as it opens I get an 'unexpected error, program needs to close' message. It freezes immediately, and I cannot even open any menu items. I have tried removing and reinstalling QuickTime 7.55, also tried updating my codecs and uninstalled/reinstalled VSx4, none of that worked. I installed this program on my desktop, and it works fine there but ther only difference there is my desktop runs Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and my Alienware M11x runs Windows 7 Home Prem 64-bit.

I upgraded to VS X4, got myself a blu-ray burner and some BD-R's, and prepared my home videos. I'm consistantly geting the 'Unspecified Error 5:0:0' during the burning stage. After 6 wasted BD-R discs,.
Camera: Canon Vixia HF20, all AVCHD formatted video
Background music selected for all menus
Motion menu checked (tried unchecked as well)
No background image (using one of the provided 8 templates)
Moving path unchecked (tried checked as well)
Menu In/Out: none (tried both enabled at default, initially)
Video length is 19.66GB total, 26 menued video segments
I've updated to X4 SP1
I even tried copying over the afCvtTitleMenuRenterUnit.dll 'fix'.
For the video segments, I initially let X4 render them all. When it failed, I created video files (previously my standard method when making discs), creating .m2t (blu-ray H.264 (1920x1080)) for each segment and used those video files for all future burning attempts (as opposed to the VS Project files).
I can see the blu-ray disc has almost fully been written to after ejecting it (after the error). However, it can't be read either on my computer or on a standard TV blu-ray player.
I haven't tried burning a DVD yet, and will try that next to see if this is just related to blu-ray discs, or not. I can't really tell if all of the other posts on this similar topic were in regards to DVD burning, or blu-ray burning.
Running into this issue on earlier verisions, I was able to make an ISO file then burn a DVD with other software. That option doesn't seem available for blu-ray discs?
I wanted to make a gameplay, with voice-over, but every time I try to render the project, the Videostudio crashes (When I try to reder it as MPG/MP4/WMV, it crashes at 4%, when I try to render it as avi, it crashes at 91%) SP1 installed. Video files and audio files:

i have the Pro version (purchased) with SP 1 (VS X4) But i have one error all the time, it crashes at exit, all the time.
I cleaned up temp folders, run disk cleaner in windows, run CCleaner and other utils.I also deleted all registry entries to VS X4 i could find, reinstalled VS X4 with SP1, but same problem.

My VideoStudio Pro X3 crashes every time I run a project. The projects vary in length from 15 seconds to 30 minutes and comprise MP4 files in one and MOV files in another. I have applied the latest patch, but that didn't work. When it crashes I get the following error message:An unhandled win32 exception occurred in vstudio.exe [9600]. Each time the number in square brackets changes as well. I have an HP PC running XP with plenty of grunt and 900GB of disk space and 3.84GB RAM. The files are coming from my Digital Video Camera HiD with a resolution of 1920x1080. I have the latest versions of Quicktime and Bonjour.
Since purchasing the product last year I have not been able to use it and each time I fill in the contact form to send to Corel support, I hit the Continue button and nothing happens, so have not been able to get any support from Corel. There is no error message or reason for not being able to contact Corel.
I have a 1 hour long project. Nothing too complicated. There are about 20 smart sound clips, no clip longer than about 4 minutes. If I disable the Smart Sound track, the project renders correctly. If I enable the smart sound track, I get a crash at about 95% along the render. If I select smaller portions of the project, say 15 minutes of it. It might render. Sometimes yes, some times a crash at 95%. what I can do to fix the crashing with smart sounds?
Note, same project on two different machines acts the same way. Reseting VS X6SP1 didn't change a thing.
i'm using videostudio x6 to cut and recode ts-files from am Kathrein UFS 923 sat recorder. But i have infrequent crashes during "opening video file". I have been using Pro 4X for just over a year now but have recently been experiencing crashes while encoding HD MPEG files. I have also just activated/unpacked the included music with the software and these issues just started after I did this. Note: I do not use the provided music but believe the conflict is because of this.

I have tried a number of different codecs, and the result is the same.
I have tried looking at the resulting VideoStudio dump file using MSVS 2008, but there does not seem to be any content.

I installed x4 the other day and it appeared to work fine. I have a Sony HD camcorder that I believe is AVCHD. I have been using and importing clips from this camera. I got the notice that an update was available and I updated the program. Since then, every time I try to edit a movie it constantly crashes. I try to import some music, it crashes. I came to the conclusion that it was the update causing it so I restored my computer to the day before I updated. It still crashes.
