My evaluation copy of VideoStudio X4 crashes whenever it tries to write an mpeg4 file. I get a message to e-mail the DMP file but thee is no e-mail address given or found on this site.
View 6 RepliesI'm editing MPEG-4 PAL HD files from a Samsung Cam. After editing, I want to create a MPEG-4 HD file with the same profile (1920x1080 at 25 fps). Choosing MPEG4-HD profile, 30 fps files are generated. Also defining a MPEG4 custom profile with H.264-MAIN type and 1920x1080 resolution, the fps is locked at 30 (at lower resolutions, like 1280x720 the frame rate can be modifies). Ist it a constraint of H.264-MAIN video type ot a bug ?
Please consider that VS X3 is installed for PAL Video System and choosing Bluray profile or AVCHD profile PAL HD files 25 fps are generated.
I tried to set my project as MPEG4 with resolution 1920x1080 and bitrate 30000 but I can not find how to do it.
Even I set to another format like M2TS it can set to 1920x1080 but the bitrate is only 18000.
My first video camera was a 30 fps NTSC and I output my videos as MPEG-4 HD files. Then I bought a new PAL video camera. To be safe I uninstalled my copy of VSProX4 and reinstalled it, checking the PAL option. However, when I created my first video clip using the MPEG-4 HD option in the drop down list, it created a file at 30 fps and not surprisingly the panning was very jerky. I uninstalled the program and ticked the option to uninstall all personal data. I also deleted the VSProX4 folders from user/user/my documents/. When I reinstalled the program all my saved projects came up on the screen and it still wants to make MPEG-4 files at 30 fps.
Presumably I should have deleted the Corel folder from the progam files folder after I'd deleted the program to get rid of all personal settings. Anyway, my question is this: is it actually possible to create MPEG-4 files at 25 fps (or preferably at 50 fps as this is what I am shooting)? If so, what do I have to do to get VSProX4 to create them? Is there some way to edit the MPEG-4 HD option in the drop down list from Create a Video File? If not, is it possible to make a template for MPEG-4 HD at 25 or 50 fps? The reason I'm keen to get this right is that I can play MPEG-4 HD files from a USB stick plugged into my TV. The only other way I can watch them on TV is to create AVCHD files and write them to a DVD.
My video won't share as a MPEG-4 HD. Here are the steps I take:
1. Click the "Share" Tab
2. Click "Create Video File"
3. Click "MPEG-4"
4. Click "MPEG-4 HD
5. Select the destination folder for the output
6. Click "Save".
The progress shows 0% and the progress bar goes away after fifteen seconds. I am sharing it as an MPEG-4 HD file because it will be placed on Youtube by someone else. I've probably done four of these projects the same way and they execute just fine.

The video is a WMV2, 24 bits 1024 x768, 29.982 frames/second; Audio is windows media audio version 4, aspect ratio is 1.33 x 1.00. It is editable.
Here's how my timeline looks:
BLACK GRAPHIC = 2 SECONDS; TRANSITION (FADE TO BLACK) = 2 SECONDS; 10 SECOND CLIP; 3 SECOND CLIP; 00:42:33 CLIP.

I'm using VideoStudio Pro X5 trial version.
Should I in fact select / have selected Lower Field First or is Frame Based OK? Is it safer / more reliable to select Lower Field First if that's the format of the source files? The videos seem to look OK on my laptop - don't know about Vimeo.
I have VS Pro X5. My footage is shot at 1920 x 1080p with 25 fps and I would like to produce mpeg4 video file with same parameters. I select custom settings, mpeg-4, H.264 high, frame size 1920 x 1080, but then fps is set to 30 and it is greyed out. Is this the limitation of VS? Is there any way to produce high quality HD with 25 fps?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using the 30-day trial version of Corel Videostudio Pro X5.
The problem is that all the videos (all files are MPEG-4) I add to the library are muted, I can't hear anything from the audio when I play it. It's the same problem when I add the clip to the timeline, it shows that the clip is normal & the audio should be fine but nothing can be heard. I've tried purposely muting it & then unmuting, I've also tried splitting audio, I've tried all possible audio settings I've found in the program but everything I've tried has no effect. I've checked a million times that the audio on my computer is on, & the videofiles play normally with perfect audio on every media player I have, but I can't hear anything in the editing software.
Is there a setting that makes the files automatically mute & I haven't noticed it, or doesn't Corel Videostudio just support MPEG-4, or is this like a weird glitch in the trial version?
I've rendered my project to MPEG4 and the audio has a light popping intermittently through it. I thought it might be caused by having multiple video overlays but only one track had audio enabled. I've now split out the audio and put it into it's own track but I'm still getting the poor quality sound.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am using Corel VS X5. I have created MPEG4 files using Adobe Captivate and imported them into Corel. When I preview them, if I select Clip, the video looks fine. But if I preview the Project, the video is blurred. I first thought it might be caused by Smart Proxy but after disabling that feature, the problem persisted. I tried publishing the project to see if the final version would be ok. Still no luck. I tried the online chat and they suggested updating my viewers. I did as instructed and restarted my PC. Still no luck. My imported MPEG4 file is 1024x767 HD.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently tried to convert a 76 minute movie in mpeg 4 to mpeg 2 using the batch convert function. I first went into options and set the bit rate to 6100 kbps and the audio to Dolby 2 ch. stereo, with the bit rate set to constant. After the conversion had taken place, I found the results were excellent, except that only 38 minutes were converted. I tried it again, but still only 38 minutes and then it it finishes. Why won't it convert the full 76 minutes? The destination folder is on my "D" drive which is 1 TB, so there is lots of room.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSome of the movies I've been creating play OK in Windows Media Player but when you try and skip to a later part of the movie by holding and moving the toggle bar there is a 'Windows Media Player has a problem playing the movie' error. All the videos are the correct length and file size. Is there a problem with the files and would it affect how they play on Vimeo? Do I need to do them again? What can I do differently?

I'm using Video Studio Pro X5 trial version.
I have recently 'downsized' to a sanyo xacti vpc-cg100ex camera to lighten my load on holiday! this produces mpeg-4 video files which I copy straight to a folder on my laptop from the SD card.
I can put these into the vs library and tranfer them onto the timeline and add trnsitions, titles etc. however VS is closing down with increasing frequency.(same files on my old xp machine seem to work ok albeit depressingly slowly!)
I have been searching the forum and wonder if I should be converting the files to some other format before doing any editing....does that involve using the share option straight after loading the files, and if so, how?

I have not been doing any video at all for quite some time so am definately somewhat rusty.
I downloaded the trial version of VideoStudio 4 Pro to try it out and I like the interface and the ease of use. My problem is that when I capture MPEG 4 files in the timeline and go to replay them, the sound and video are very choppy and the replay skips the whole way through.
I converted the MPEG 4 files to wmv, and the video was smooth but I lost some of the image clarity in the converting process. I don't think it's my computer because the MPEG 4 files play nicely on MediaPlayer - just not on VideoStudio.
I upgraded to VS X4 SP1 having successfully used its predecessors for many years. However, I now cannot burn a DVD as it fails in the Converting Video of the title (001/001] step.
My clips are captured by firewire from a Sony camcorder in DVI format. In this project I am using transitions, moving menus, 12 chapters and titles extensively.
My workflow is as follows: Share, Create Disc, DVD, Use first clip as introductory video is unchecked (patched dll file for Unknown Error installed), use Smart Scene Menu, Burn. Timeline is 1:26:54:22 so I select Yes to fit to DVD. PC crashes anywhere between 6 and 18 minutes later. Do not convert compliant MPEG files is checked.
I have tried various other things and can successfully burn a video under 30 min on the timeline without and transitions, chapters or menus.
My project properties are Microsoft AVI, PAL 25fps, 24 bits, 720x576, 4:3, Lower Field First, DV Video Encoder - type1
Clip properties are the same with 32000kHz, 12 bit Stereo audio as per attached file.
The converting video of the title step takes up to 30 min to complete for a 20 - 30 minute project, so seems like a proportionally high time of total job.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI took some video using a webcam that I need to edit in Premiere Pro. I converted it to 'Mov' and the codec info is 'H264 MPEG4 - AVC'. It imports to Premiere but the video appears extremely pixalated and disfigured to the point where it is unwatchable. I have set the sequence settings to the same as the source file.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSometimes (only every now and then), when I try to render a project to AVI VS instantly crashes. Lets say I have three projects, project1, project2 and project3. Project1 & 3 will render to AVI just fine, every time. Project2 will crash every time I try to render to AVI. I can render any of the projects to MPG, MP4, WMV, whatever else I want. If I recreate project2 from scratch as Project4, it will then render to AVI just fine. If I remove >>EVERYTHING<< from all timelines in project2, then add a new clip that did not exist before, it crashes when rendering to AVI. Project2 contains both AVI and MPG clips created/captured with VS X3 just a couple of days prior. VS X3 has all the latest updates.
When I say render to AVI I mean I select Share->Create Video File->Custom->AVI and leave it at the default of 24bits, 720x480, 29.97fps, Lower Field First, Uncompressed, PCM, 48.000kHz, 16bit, Stereo. Video on the timeline includes MPEG-2, Lower Field First, 24bits, 720x480, 16:9, 29.97fps, VBR, LPCM, 48000Hz, 16bit stereo and Microsoft AVI OpenDML, 29.97fps, 30532.12kbps, uncompressed, 24bit, 720x480, PCM, 48000Hz, 16bit, Stereo.Although this is a rare occurance, it is a real pain to have to recreate the video from scratch every time this happens.
The computer is a new Windows 7 Pro 64bit, Core2Duo E7500, 4GB Kingston HyperX RAM, 750GB WD Black SATA, Radeon X1550, Asus P5QL/EPU, Pioneer SATA DVD+/-RW, Antec 380 power Supply. Windows has all updates, AV is Microsoft Security Essentials, software installed includes VS X3, Adobe PS Elements 8, Super Video Converter, Office 2010, Nero 8 Essentials, Microsoft Expression Web 3, QTIndexSwapper2, Filezilla, Audacity, Adobe Reader 10 and supporting software that those applications install.
I have a problem with VS X3 due to the fact that the burner crashes. I have made some DVDs with it previously. I have loaded VS X4 trial version and that will burn the DVD. I do not feel that I should buy the new version just to get the burner. The error message is:

I installed a trial version of Pro X5 with Windows 7. Almost every time I try to capture video it crashes.
Camera is a Sony HDR-HC5E. The only format I am offered is MPEG. Sometimes it begins to capture, other times there is no picture on screen and nothing is captured, most times I get a NOT RESPONDING warning and Video Studio just freezes. Sometimes it works but very rarely!. I have reloaded X5 three times.
I just bought VSx4 but I noticed it crashes as soon as I try to capture

I already:
uninstalled, re-installed VSx4
turned off/pc - camera
connected/disconnected camera
since I installed vsx4 I can't capture in vs x3 too.
First, it took several days just to get it to install. It finally installed after a sys restore and I was off and running. I really liked the package, especially Express. I played with it for a day, liking it more and more, and then all of a sudden it says " Corel has stopped working". Does this when I trying to do anything. Last thing I did was edit a few old clips and put them back in the folder with the originals (renamed). Could this have caused it? This is getting to be a High Maintanence program.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased Ulead Video Studio 10 for my son about 4 or 5 years ago and installed it on his Vista machine. When first installed, it worked great. After a few months, it began freezing and/or crashing his computer. I was unaware that he was having problems. He just kept rebooting and then continued until his project was completed, or just got frustrated and quit the project.
When I discovered he was having these issues, we found and ran the available Ulead patches, which improved things a bit for a while. Then, having issues again shortly thereafter, we upgraded to Video Studio 11, which again improved things for a short while. He has been unable to complete a project within the last year. Video Studio is at a point now where it freezes constantly and Vista pops up the message “Ulead has stopped working” with a “Close Program” Button. Sometimes it takes 10 or 20 minutes to freeze, sometimes it freezes instantly and sometimes in between.
I've been using VSX4 for about 4 weeks without any problems, aside from the very occasionaly crash. The last time I used it was three days ago.
I've tried to use it today to find it crashes at startup every time. I have restarted my PC several times to no avail. As far as I can recall, I have not installed anything in the last three days, or updated drivers.
I have uninstalled and then reinstalled. Again, to no avail.

VideoStudio PRO X3 crashes very often when rendering a VSP-file (with m2ts videofragments) that contains also transions and text.
It happens when I want to create a HD-file (PAL, Blu-ray /MPEG or H.264/ 1920*1080). Disabling SmartRender did not work. Also setting off hyperthreading did not solve the problem.
The problems do not occur when the VSP-file only contains m2ts fragments.
The recommendations given by Corel Helpdesk (download & install VS updates, C++ and DirectX updates) were not very useful because I had already implemented the most recent updates
My current version of VS PRO X3 is 1.6.2.69.

So I had VS x3 and it started to give me serious problems, i.e. no longer able to export to MPEG-HD, So now I have X4 thinking it would resolve my issues, but no. Now I cannot even launch X4, as soon as it opens I get an 'unexpected error, program needs to close' message. It freezes immediately, and I cannot even open any menu items. I have tried removing and reinstalling QuickTime 7.55, also tried updating my codecs and uninstalled/reinstalled VSx4, none of that worked. I installed this program on my desktop, and it works fine there but ther only difference there is my desktop runs Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and my Alienware M11x runs Windows 7 Home Prem 64-bit.

I upgraded to VS X4, got myself a blu-ray burner and some BD-R's, and prepared my home videos. I'm consistantly geting the 'Unspecified Error 5:0:0' during the burning stage. After 6 wasted BD-R discs,.
Camera: Canon Vixia HF20, all AVCHD formatted video
Background music selected for all menus
Motion menu checked (tried unchecked as well)
No background image (using one of the provided 8 templates)
Moving path unchecked (tried checked as well)
Menu In/Out: none (tried both enabled at default, initially)
Video length is 19.66GB total, 26 menued video segments
I've updated to X4 SP1
I even tried copying over the afCvtTitleMenuRenterUnit.dll 'fix'.
For the video segments, I initially let X4 render them all. When it failed, I created video files (previously my standard method when making discs), creating .m2t (blu-ray H.264 (1920x1080)) for each segment and used those video files for all future burning attempts (as opposed to the VS Project files).
I can see the blu-ray disc has almost fully been written to after ejecting it (after the error). However, it can't be read either on my computer or on a standard TV blu-ray player.
I haven't tried burning a DVD yet, and will try that next to see if this is just related to blu-ray discs, or not. I can't really tell if all of the other posts on this similar topic were in regards to DVD burning, or blu-ray burning.
Running into this issue on earlier verisions, I was able to make an ISO file then burn a DVD with other software. That option doesn't seem available for blu-ray discs?
I am not getting an option of exporting in mpeg 4 format? Infact when I am rendering in AVI file the size of the file is extremely huge. Need reducing the file size & exporting in MPEG4 format.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to make a gameplay, with voice-over, but every time I try to render the project, the Videostudio crashes (When I try to reder it as MPG/MP4/WMV, it crashes at 4%, when I try to render it as avi, it crashes at 91%) SP1 installed. Video files and audio files:

My hardware informations are on my profile. The Event Viewer (or something like that, I have hungarian windows) says this:
I tried everything, Even recording my screen while playing the project. But the video was lagging.
i have the Pro version (purchased) with SP 1 (VS X4) But i have one error all the time, it crashes at exit, all the time.
I cleaned up temp folders, run disk cleaner in windows, run CCleaner and other utils.I also deleted all registry entries to VS X4 i could find, reinstalled VS X4 with SP1, but same problem.

about 200 gig free at system-disk
