VideoStudio :: Volume Control On Audio Tracks
Nov 29, 2012
I am wondering if there is another method to control volume levels on the audio and voice over tracks. I am thinking particularly about a method to easily (automatically) reduce the volume of the background music when a voiceover starts and raising it again after the voiceover is finished.
I find the existing process of capturing a volume node fiddly and, for me, a bit hit and miss.

I have been using VS since version 9 and I seem to get the same thing on each version. After I have completed the project and burn to DVD the audio track seems too loud. I don't seem to notice it playing back the file (computer speakers aren't much chop) but once in the DVD player you always have to quickly turn down the volume once it starts playing. There is no static or distortion its just too loud. I now go into every song I input on the audo track and lower the levels. And it only appears to be the music. Audio in the video clips comes out at normal levels and does not need adjusting. If anything I have to boost the video clip audio because it's too low. The songs I import are directly from CD's or MP3's from my music folder.
Its not a real problem as I can fix by constantly lowering each song but is there a way to set the preference to lower the output on the audio tracks? That is to see the level automatically set below the 0 line when music is added. Or is it something in the burn proceedure in MF7?

I've just bought VideoStudio Pro X4 and I want to mute the sound on my clips as I'm going to have music playing instead. On page 115 of the manual it says I will find the clip volume control in the Music and Voice tab. I have been all over the program interface and clicked on virtually everything but I cannot find a Music and Voice tab. In the end I had to split the audio for each clip and delete it. how to find the Clip audio volume control?

Is there a way to add an additional audio track to either the music track or voice tracks? In other words, instead of one voice track and one music track is there a way to add a third track? I have many sound effects and music and there are parts of my project that need more than two audio tracks.

Using Pro X4
I have a video file, I have an audio file. Video is loaded in the video track, audio in the Voice track.
HOW in the ... do I sync them? I have the mixer on, I can see the wav graphics, I can see where I want them to line up but either the Video track must slide forward ( and it won't, it's locked on 0 ) or the audio track must slide backward (but it won't slide below 0 start) I've tried splitting, clipping... I can't get it cut just right. All I want is time frame 0 for the video to start at positive time frame within the audio.

I would like to add a music file on one track, sound effects like bells, dramatic drums on another. Is this something that I can do with VSP x3? If so where can I find out how it is done? If not is there a way for me to say put special sound effects in back of the main music clip in different places in the timeline?

I just downloaded the trial version of this software (Video Studio X5 Pro) to try it before I buy it. I am importing RAW and AVI footage capture from a program called DXtory. I am recording those videos with three audio tracks, one track covers the sound of the video game being played, one track covers my microphone input, and the last track covers the sound that comes through my teamspeak server.
When I import a video into Corel am I able to separately edit each audio track? IE change the volume of one input but not the other?

Although I have used Ulead VideoStudio occasionally over a few years, with moderate success (as I am a complete beginner at video editing), one problem has occurred quite often, and I have not been able to find out how to correct it.
It is this: when I burn a DVD, then put the DVD into a DVD player attached to a TV set, the volume - set at a comfortable listening level on the TV ( in one case, the level is defined at 40) - is very uncomfortably loud, so much so that the TV volume needs to be reduced to 15-20 before it is tolerable.
Is there any way of controlling the volume during the DVD burn?

why I'm having trouble with VSX5 Pro's "Sound Mixer?" It isn't working, and I don't know if my issue is one that has been reported already, or not. In my timeline (under 'voice track') I have an audio file which I separated from the main video file. The main video file is now 'muted' so that only my voice track plays the sounds. Note: I copied the same voice track and pasted 3 copies of it only to lengthen the overall playtime, but they are each on the same voice track.
The problem I'm having is that the volume adjustment settings don't work. After selecting the first segment on my voice track, I then move the slider up to maximum volume (from level 0 to 12), and then I right-click on it to save it as "default," but it ALWAYS jumps back to volume level zero (0)! It does the same thing even if I don't "right-click" and save it. The setting never stays where I want it to. What else can I do to increase the volume of the sounds on my 3 segments in my voice track, and have them stay at level 12?
EDITED: Also, is there some way I can save/export my "voice track" to an external sound file and/or convert it into a different sound format? I haven't seen a way to do that.

I am creating a "year in review" for a local fire company. I am trying to set up Video Studio Pro X5 so that when there is audio in the video clips the background music lowers in volume so that I don't drown out the audio in the video. How do I do this?

After staying away from video editing for some time I have just installed VS X5. But here I can't find the Audio View in which I could adjust the sound volume (using the graph) in the video track. Has it gone away or is it just that I can't find it?
Does this mean that I have to split the audio from the video to be able to adjust the volume (up and down at various places, not just the track volume).

I'm no longer able to control the PP (monitor) volume using my computer volume controls. I've always controlled the monitor volume using my computer volume levels, but starting today, that has changed.
The volume is just playing at the level recorded with no way for me to turn down or up.I performed a disc repair and that didn't solve the problem.

I am editing in the timeline in Smoke 2013. I bring in a music track onto track 4. I bring in a interview clip on track 1. Only one or the other will playback and not together at the same time. I also notice on the audio tracks patch area a small square that when you place the cursor over and drag left or right I assume channels are being selected. What is this square box for and how do I get all my audio tracks to playback together?
I am using Panasonic P2 footage at 1920 x 1080. 29.97 NDF. I have brought them in through the media hub and created folders that correspond to each P2 card I stored on my Video Array. I am using a ProAvio Video Box with a RocketRAID 644 controller. What gives? Why am I not able to hear all the audio tracks during playback?

I'm having trouble figuring out how to edit multiple audio tracks. I put the clip on the timeline and I can hear both tracks but there is only one audio track showing. How do I seperate the tracks?
One track is from a rhodes external mic with phantom power using XLR. The other is from a powered lavalier mic attached by XLR. Is there something I have to do in project set up?

I recently started to work with the Adobe suit so i am not yet used to the workflow. We are serval people working on the post production of a short movie filmed with a red SCARLET in raw which means that the files are pretty big. The audio where captured in serval tracks who all have been merged with the video clips. The clips have thereafter been cut and placed in its right place. So now it is my job to work with the sound design. I have tryd to export the audio in both AAF and OMF and every time i open it up in Audition it sais that the media is offline. On my computer all i have is the orgininal Audio files. Is there anyway to get only the audio (all the tracks) to Audition, without having them searching for the merged files. For example creating new Audio from the cutted tracks?

I can edit a video, with resynced sound/dialogue in premiere cc. When I save and close the project, everything is okay. When I later reopen the project all or most of the audio tracks are blank. They are there with the right name and length, but no waveform and no sound. I have put them in manually resynced and then on save and close: again they are gone. So there really is no point in editing if I can`t save the result. How can i restore my edits and also why do I have to do so? I have now redone every scene 5 times and I need a solution asap. Autosave keeps the same useless projects.
on Mac Pro, 10Gb Ram, premiere cc.
I tried the pluraleyes extension (as I was using pluraleyes) but this makes no difference.

In Smoke 2012 attempting to select two audio tracks for merging and/or splitting results in the message "two layers must be fully selected". I have the two layers are selected in the far left-hand-side of the timeline with the selection buttons. The manual is not specific either.
Conversely, selecting a stereo audio track and applying stereo 'stereo split' results in the message "At least one stereo track needs to be selected". Selection was performed, as above, with the far left-hand-side track selection box.
The point is that creating a 'new sequence' results in a single video track. When two mono audio tracks are created to accomodate the audio portion of the clips they have to be converted to stereo.

I'm trying to get back into making youtube videos and I am running into an issue. I have an Hauppauge HD PVR 2 gaming edition. Now one of the features that makes it easier for commentators like me is the ability to have all of the audio channels [game, mic, PC (aka skype chat)] all on seperate "layers" that way you can go into your video/audio editor and have the different audios so you can tweak them individually.
The problem that I have and wondering about is this, is there a way to import the files and have the different audio tracks be seperate? The files that they come in are either .ts [raw] or .mp4 [in program compression]. I would like to keep it in .ts even though its a bigger file as I like my compression style after I've edited that gives the best look without loss when uploading to youtube.
I have see the free program at any-video-converter.com mentioned, but the issue is last time I used it I somehow ended up with a virus. I also have handbrake, the Master collection cs 5.5, and VLC.
Operating System: Windows 7
Software Version: 10.5.0.253
Device: HD PVR 2 gaming edition

My video clip, brought over into Premiere CS6 from Final Cut Pro 5, has the usual left and right audio tracks, but in Premiere they are not linked into a stereo pair. Thus the volume level has to be adjusted separately in each track.
In Final Cut, I can quickly convert two independent audio tracks into a stero pair by selecting the tracks and then going to the menu Modify > Stereo Pair. I can't figure out how to do this in Premiere.
When two audio tracks are not linked, the volume level has to be adjusted separately in each track, which wastes time. But after two tracks are linked into a Stereo Pair in Final Cut, adjusting either track adjusts them both, together. That's what I want to do now in Premiere.
So, how do I make two separate audio tracks into a linked Stereo Pair in Premiere?

I am new to working with bigger projects in Premiere, I moved from FCP last year. I am currently editing a show which is based of Line recorded cameras.
I have 6 Tracks of video, plus mulitple audio tracks and 2 hrs long
My problem. Having made and lifted my selects in the timeline I now am finding the timeline to be very unresponsive to the point of pinwheeling even just to open the sequence. I can't zoom, move or edit anything in this timeline without a pinwheel and a 30 second delay. None of my other sequences are having this issue. All are the same codec.
Is there a way to set up larger sequences so that this does not happen? I find premiere 7.1 is fine until I build bigger sequences/projects. My inital thought was drive speed, however the issues only arose when I had lifted all the selects.
Could it be that I have too many tracks of video for premiere to handle? I have no problem playing the timeline (although it will initally pinwheel) its mainly navigation/clip selction along the timeline which causes an issue
I tried multicam also but that had too many issues
I work on a 2012 Mac Pro 2.4 Ghz 12-cores with 12 GB ram 9 of which is allocated to premiere. I also have my working caches on a dedicated single 3.5" 7200 rpm drive 1gb graphics card.

I'm new to Adobe After Effects and trying to adjust audio levels on the timeline using key points. This works great for db levels but the maximum level that can be set is -48db and this is still allowing some audio to "bleed through". I can mute the audio for the whole track, but that's not what I want - I want to mute the track at certain keypoints on the timeline.
I can't see any way to do this in After Effects.

I have recently upgraded my old VideoStudio 12.00 to VideoStudio Pro X4 and have only just started using the program again after a couple of years of absence so I am still on a learning curve.
Can I extract the audio from a video clip and if so how and how can I convert it, if necessary into an Audio Interchange File Format, so that I can export it to a program such as Audacity for removing background wind noise before importing the Audio back into the videoStudio project.
I have tried using all the audio filter functions in VS to remove the background noise, to no avail.
