View 5 RepliesI modified a Window Family file by adding a Window inset parameter. When I inserted the window into a wall, otherwise the window worked fine, but when I changed the window's Window Inset value, the frame depth changed instead of the frame's location. The frame was originally made by Sweep tool, but now when I made it by Extrusion tool, the window works fine. Anyway, for future purposes, I would like to know how to be able to use the Window Inset parameter with a frame made by Sweep tool. How do I lock the depth of the frame sweep?
The file is attached.
I am trying to figure out the most efficient way to draw a set of shutters in 3D. I took AutoCAD courses all through high school however we never learned 3D.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am looking for ways to draw the rolling of blades or slats around an axe for Aluminum Roller Shutters. The path of the rolling is an hellix, rolling around a 70 mm octogonal reel then continue downward in a downward movement.
I have attached some pics from Catalogues and Guides where such have been drawn.
We have a family that errors when certain values are hit. Its realated to Automatic Sketch Dimension reassociating with work planes when two workplans over lap... Anyway, the QA team knows about this.
The problem I have is that I have an IF statement to trigger an generic error message when these two rare conditions are met. I would rather a pop up window explaining what thy can not do. "Position of legs from ends can not equal half total length" and an OK button.
Is there a "say" style command for revit formulas?
I'm a relatively new user to Revit (almost a year). My issue is that all of a sudden my view control bar is located so far to the left in the view window, the project browser almost covers it. I know that I can move the project browser window so that isn't all that critical. My concern is that when I want to look at a schedule it also is so far to the left of the screen I have to move the other windows to see it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several window types in my project. Let's say that the window is 3'-0" wide by 4'-8" high - Mark #1. I want to group three of these windows and schedule the group as Mark #2 - not three separate #1 windows. How do I set up the three windows together to become a single window schedulable for the entire opening of the three windows grouped together so that the opening would read 9'-0" wide?

I am trying to center the 6' extension between an exterior (7 1/4") and interior (4") wall. View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't put my nested window family in a curved wall. Where the problem could be situated? It has to be a normal straight window so I use my nested window families from other projects. I compared my NWF(nested window family) with the ones autodesk provides with revit but I don't find the difference. The NWF from autodesk work in a curved wall.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a number of windows already in the project - of differing types.
The numbering (marks) have been assigned as I created each one.
I would now like to add a prefix to the mark in the form of:
W0/01, W0/02, W0/03 etc. for ground floor windows then:
W1/01, W1/02 ... etc for first floor.
If it is not possible to break down by floor, then simply having a prefix W/01, W/02, W/03 etc. would work.
I can alter individual window types and amend the Mark to include the prefix, but it only seems to affect the one window - and not all instances of the same type.
Ideally - is it possible to set a standard prefix for use in window Marks throughout a project, regardless of type and whether it has already been inserted or in the future ?

In the picture, the joint on the left side is correct, but the ones on the left are incorrect.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe window type showed up in the window schedule. But the window dimension didn't.
What's the reason of it? I know you can enter the dimension directly into the schedule. But it would be nice if it comes it automatically. See attached file.
I would like to add different materials in Family type window (value column drop down). How to attain this?
How to create/use shared parameters for linking data through .txt file? If possible replay with images, that will be useful to understand.
I have a student version of revit 2014 and all my sizing, setting out and dimensions are coming in at feet and inches. I have found out how to convert this to mm but when I load in windows and doors, all the sizes of these are in feet and inches. How to change the door and window sizes to mm so that I know what size they are.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to cut a void into the wall of a host window family. When I place a void in the family, it does not cut thought the wall.
I tried making the void on a plane perpendicular and parallel to the wall plane. I dont know if this has anything to do with how voids work. But its not working. I also dont have an 'opening' element in the window family.
I'm working on a small project: a 2 story single house.
There are some curtain walls in the house. Also, a sliding glass door within the curtain wall. I want the same window schedule covers both the regular fixed windows and curtain walls.
Is it better to convert the curtain walls to regular windows? Or there are other better options?
“Zoom window” in the Revit,
I couldn’t find the “zoom window” tool in the Revit!
I'm a model, I need to design a model for window curtains and bed with my blanket.
For example, I took the picture.
I am semi-new to Revit and am trying to make a go of it. I am trying to make a window, that looks like my AutoCAD window. So I open the Window Family.rft to start creating. I can adjust my wall thickness to match my brick wall, I can set the frame to the void that is already there.....my problem comes when I want to put on the brick mould. This overhangs the window frame and thus is outside the pre-ordained void. When I try to make a void extrusion to cut back the outside face of the wall and allow the brick mould to show, it will not work - only the originally supplied void (that comes with the template) works.
Revit will not allow me to "Cut Geometry" saying "A Family cannot have an opening and cut in the same host". If I set the brick mould inside the supplied opening, then the inside face will have a gap between the drywall and the window frame.
How do change the door, window trim styles??

Where are the profile to do this?
Can we download profiles?
Can we create our own?

I have created a operable window to insert in a curtain wall system based on the "Window - Curtain Wall" family. I created a simple extrusion for the glazing panel and assigned it the subcategory of "Glass". When loaded in the project, the cut lines of this panel are a much heavier weight than mullions, other glass panels, etc. The lines are so thick, the double line just becomes a fat single line as they merge together. Adjacent glass panels don't have this line weight problem. I can find no override or other control/parameter that fixes this.

I reset the Windows user profile and everything is back to normal operation. Today has come out again this error screen. Video drivers are certified and the board is a Nvidea Quadro and normally I have no problems. To test I created a new user and everything works fine. What could alter the software related to user profile?
