AutoCAD 2010 :: Bold Text Inside Viewport And Slim Text Inside Paperspace?
Feb 8, 2013I have this strange situation.. i use the Arial font inside my cad drawings and when i print my paperspace layout, the text inside the viewport is a little bit more "bold" then the text i put directly on paper space.
Maybe it's a trick to know what text is placed where, but i want all this to be uniform, same thickness. Is there a system variable to correct that issue?

Up to COUPE C1 is the text inside the viewport, under COUPE C1is the paperspace text. Both are the same height... but difference tickness.
AutoCad 2D :: Coloured Lines Inside The Viewport In Paperspace
Mar 8, 2013I recently had to reload my Autocad and in doing so I now see all the coloured lines inside the viewport in paperspace. Previously these lines were in black, how can I return the viewport to that setting.

Jan 19, 2013I have made a landscape model in meters as units in the modeling area. Now, when I want to scale the drawing in the paper layouts, within the viewport, it seems to me like it's scaling as if the drawing was done with millimeters as units.
I think this might have been caused by me starting to draw, thinking I was plotting in with meters as the unit, but then found that it was set as millimeters. I changed the unit setting for the model to meters and that seemed to work fine. But I'm guessing it didn't work.
I have tried using the INSUNIT command and it says the drawing is in 6, which is meters, so why is it scaling as if it was in millimeters on an A3 layout?
3ds Max :: Moving Objects In Viewport
May 31, 2011I'm working on this massive architecture scene and i'm trying to move some rather small braided steel cable in the scene when i go to move it the objects moves in rather big increments instead of small ones. I check to see if snaps was on and its not, on what i can do to can more precision over my placement of these cables.

AutoCad 2D :: Moving Around A Viewport?
Dec 13, 2013My query is to do with panning around a Viewport in paperspace.
I have one drawing of a venue with contents and have the same venue but with different contents directly below it.
When I copied the venue I locked the ortho and copied the venue.
Now my paperspace looks at the first venue.I have copied that paperspace but wanted to make sure that when I pan down to fit the venue into the viewport that I lock the ortho and hit the same view size and location on the paper as the view before.
Is there a keyboard short-cut to lock the ortho as I pan down to the model space I want to see?
AutoCAD 2013 :: Create Viewport Of Solid In Layout And Dimension Inside And Outside Diameters
Aug 8, 2012Having trouble with diameter and radial dimensions since upgrading to 2013.
For example, draw two concentric circles and Presspull (or Extrude and Subtract) so that you get a hollow cylinder. Then create a viewport of this solid in a layout, and try to dimension the inside and outside diameters.
One of the two dimensions will work properly (seems to vary which one). The other will magically "jump" when placed (ex. the OD dimension will jump and become the ID, or vice versa).
How to resolve this? Our guys are having to do absurd things like redrawing the circle in paper space and dimensioning to it with a scale factor. Is this some sort of 2013 bug, or a setting?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Creating Cross Section Views (Sheets) / Set Margin Inside Viewport?
Mar 12, 2013When creating cross section views ("Home>Section Views>Create Multiple Views"), my sections are being placed at the exact boundary of the viewport (viewport is per my template).
Surely there's a way to create a margin inside the viewport.
Here's a screen shot of what I'm seeing. Notice how the dotted "Plot Area Boundary line is going right thru the left axis labels and on top of the bottom axis blue line (which means the bottom axis labels will NOT be seen).

I tested by printing the outline of the vport and opening the resulting PDF in a PDF viewer.
The vport is exactly the same dimension but is about .5 inch off to the right.

Explaining: You have created layout which includes multiple viewports with different scale and size (view, section). Now you copy the layout to create a new layout with with same viewports. Now you have to change the view in all viewports. I have used technique where you double-click in viewport and you navigate in modelspace (pan/zoom) until you reach the right position.
The problem is If you have like 100 layouts with 10 viewports each, it takes very long time to pan the views into right position.
I have a some theories:
1. If I could see the viewports in modelspace, I could drag them all into right position without navigating them one-by-on in paperspace.
2. If I could pan the view in viewport by specific amount lets say 10m to the right.

Revit :: How To Create Section That Is Inside The Cabinet
Jan 17, 2013I created a kitchen counter in Revit 2011 however, when I try to create a section it does not show what a section should show such as the shelves that are inside the cabinet. It just basically shows what an elevation would show. I checked all my settings and everything is good. What could be the problem? I created another family as well and when I do a section it shows what should be seen in a section. The same thing happens when I put the counter into a project. The section does not show correctly as well as the wireframe visual style does not show in plan view. It show as if it were in hidden line.

Jun 14, 2013I am using Revit 2013 student version. I have successfully attached a decal on one of my walls and managed to show a realistic mode of the decal in my elevation. I would like to remove the decal lines (rectangle with x inside) but I am struggling to do this.
I have done some research on the web and so far, found out that I need to select the decal lines (or cross), right click and choose Override Graphics in View > By Element, and check Transparent. The problem is, my system does not display the option for Transparent; I am only given the boxes for Visible and Half-tone.
Revit :: Stuck Inside Sheet Template Schedule Editor
Oct 8, 2012In customizing a sheet template, I entered into a "Schedule: Revision Schedule". I made the minor adjustments, but can not get back to the sheet template.
The 'Project Browser' only has "Schedules" under 'Views'. (refer to attached image) I know the rest of the content from the sheet (eg. titleblock) are still in the file, as it still is present when I "Load into Project".
How do you exit the schedule editor from a sheet template file?
Revit :: Generic Labels Inside Families To Display Parameters
Jul 10, 2012I have some generic labels inside families to display parameters. These work but they seem to randomly disapear.
I thought it was only happening when families were joined as when I unjoined the offending families the labels were visible again but then after closing and opening the view some of the labels have disapeared again.
If I copy this family to a new location the labels will be visible.
Revit :: Customizing Viewport Templates
Mar 6, 2012I'm finding that setting up views on a sheet is a bit cumbersome especially when creating a sheet with a lot of views. For example, I'm creating casework details & elevations and our firm's stardard is to basically set up a grid on the sheet to frame each detail drawing. The process I've been using is: 1. Place the view on the sheet, 2. change the viewport to a modified template that simply changes the text and gets rid of the default # & circle title. 3. I then have to realign the title text with the view. 4. THEN I essentially draw 2d linework to create the view frames on the sheet for each detail view.
This just seems like a cumbersome process for a program that's so intuitive. I would imagine/HOPE there would be a way to change the default for when I place a view on a page. I'd like the views to automatically show the view frame/border when they are placed on the page and then I could simply manipulate the frames to fit each page.
If there's no way to really change this default then I would imagine it would be better to change our office standard to save time. Below is a pic to show our standard sheet layout.

Nov 30, 2011I am trying to throw a screen shot up onto a TV model to make my rendering more fun and I can't get it to work right!!!
I duplicated one of the standard plastic materials in Revit's lib and replaced the color with a cutom image (first tried jpg then png). I had to tweak the transforms to get it to fit the screen. Looks great in the camera view but when I render the transforms are off.

Mar 22, 2012I want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."
Revit :: Moving Model To New Vertical Elevation?
Jul 28, 2011My problem is trying to move the project model to a new elevation some 1000+ feet higher than the 0'0" schematic design elevation. When using the "shared" solution, it will work for the model but not for the Topo as the topo is also tied to the Project base point, so when one uses shared it also moves the topo map 1000+ feet higher. I'm trying to find a way where the project elevation can be adjusted to the base point elevation so both topo and model elevations coordinate with each other. It's a 4 level project with many exterior retaining wall levels. I'm almost to the point of doing a full copy of the project to the clipboard and then importing it at the level 1000+ feet higher.

I have the North wall of the house in a design option for the living room at the moment. But I have decided I no longer want that wall in the my living room option, I would like to move it to my kitchen design option so I am able to move a window that is located on that wall. I cannot seem to find a way to move a wall from one design option to another or have it in both if it is already part of a design option. How I can get this wall and the windows located on it into my kitchen design layout without having things being double counted in the schedules?

Feb 17, 2012I have a 3 story building. We are almost finished with design development. I need to raise the building's first floor which will cause all the other floors to change their level heights. I have been told that we need to fake in level markers because to change the level heights will cause all the information (for example dimensions) to disappear because they are 'tied' to the original level height. Is there a way to raise the building without loosing all the work that has been done?
