Deleteting unused viewport types from Revit Arch 2013? I have a project that had some detail views imported from another project and brought along some unwanted viewport styles. Purge Unused does no good. There are no instances of the unwanted viewports in the project either.
I received a file (exported from datacad) with apx. ~1000 dimension styles. I selected all dimensions and changed their style to a new style. Now I want to delete the old styles, but Autocad says they are used. I tried purging, but it doesn't work.
Because I'm unable to invoke the "Select All Unused" menu item of the Swatches panel menu I'm trying to attack it programmatically. Â What I'm trying to determine is if it's sufficient to compare the Fill and Stroke Color of each Path Item (every path item of current document) or are there other items that should be examined to achieve the same results as the command in the Swatches panel menu? Page Items doesn't appear to contain a Fill Color property. I've got AppleScript code that appears to do the trick, but I'd like to get input so as to make sure I'm not missing something that my testing might not have uncovered.
I am proficient in Illustrator, but this has been one of a few enigmas. Every once and a while in a file, I have noticed that after deleting a color that is definitely not in use(ie there are no strokes, fills, stray paths etc) using these colors. I have made sure of it. I will delete the color from the swatches and as a final pass I like to add used colors and sure enough that color will come back. I tried making sure it's not checked global, didn't work, some I don't even think are global colors, and in fact they are generally CMYK. I often notice that Black and C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100 don't like to delete from the swatches among some other colors when you delete unused swatches. I thought perhaps they were in guides or something but it's truly unexplainable, and generally with a fresh file if all colors are deleted it'll still leave black white and gray.
Or ways to troubleshoot better other than creating a debug file and deleting lines of code as recommended in the older forums?
I had a user ask why some dimension styles cannot be purged even if all the dimensions are deleted from the project.
Most probably the dimension style is used in a family that is loaded in the project.
When you select all dimension instances in the entire project, it will not select those included in the families. But the purge function will 'see' that it is still used in a family and therefore it will not be listed in the purge dialog.
So you will have to find in which family the dimension style is used.
I don't think there is an easy way to do it. I would make a copy of the project and then delete a bunch of families until the dimension style can be purged, then refine the research until to find the family that contains the dimension style.
I have multiple paper spaces to show a variety of drawings. I currently have my floor plan as a viewport, but I need to delete it in order to add in my elevations. I tried deleting my current viewport, but it also deletes the rest of mine. How do I delete a viewport from only one paper space, so that it does not interrupt with my other drawings?
I inserted CAD files and erased them from all views once I no longer needed them, yet some CAD files are still listed in the Visibility/Graphics menu under Imported Categories. Need to just select and delete from the menu, but there is no way to select and delete from the list. How can I simply clear out all imported categories?
If i delete a family from the project browser, under families expanded folder group, will this delete them from the project and reduce the file size? Â Best way to delete just unwanted families that have been loaded into the model? Â I know of purging the model but i believe this will potentially delete tags i may want and other information that just not being utilized at the time of purge.
I'm updating our Revit template in Revit Structure 2013. When I look into the Asset Browser in the unreferenced library there are a lot of Assets wich are incremented [(1), (2), (3),...]. I don't need these Assets in my template, but I can't remove them because the unreferenced folder is locked. How can I delete these Assets?
Using Revit 2014 SP2 64bit / Windows 7 Â Worksharing enabled project. When I delete anything from the browser; views, family types, families, Revit crashes. Was able to delete views such as sections by finding and selecting section tag within plan and deleting within view, but deleting same instance from project browser crashes Revit. Deleting types within 'purge unused' dialog does not result in crash also. Â Â Have reset registry values for Current User, confirmed SP2 install, confirmed Hardware Acceleration is turned off. Â Still crashing.
I accidentally created 2 levels representing the third floor. This is confusing and no doubt will lead to unexpected behavior when the model gets more complex. How can I delete a level?
I'm attempting to delete a design option that we created in order to alleviate model creation conflicts. Â We were testing whether it was to be a sub-category design option or a main heading, so I just modeled a couple things (in a floor plan that was created months ago in another design option) to try and get them to show up. Â When I realized that sub-category was not the way to go, I tried to delete that design option and it removed the floor plan I was using.
I examined the "Visible in Option" line and it has the name of an option that I'm not deleting, so....? Â Now what? Â I just want to clean up my model and remove that test design option.
I m receiving the following error on all projects whether they be existing or newly created. I am getting this error on Revit 2013 and Revit 2014. To reproduce all I have to do is try to delete ANY object in the model. "No circuit errors found".
I'm finding that setting up views on a sheet is a bit cumbersome especially when creating a sheet with a lot of views. Â For example, I'm creating casework details & elevations and our firm's stardard is to basically set up a grid on the sheet to frame each detail drawing. The process I've been using is: 1. Place the view on the sheet, 2. change the viewport to a modified template that simply changes the text and gets rid of the default # & circle title. 3. I then have to realign the title text with the view. 4. THEN I essentially draw 2d linework to create the view frames on the sheet for each detail view. Â This just seems like a cumbersome process for a program that's so intuitive. I would imagine/HOPE there would be a way to change the default for when I place a view on a page. I'd like the views to automatically show the view frame/border when they are placed on the page and then I could simply manipulate the frames to fit each page. Â If there's no way to really change this default then I would imagine it would be better to change our office standard to save time. Below is a pic to show our standard sheet layout.
Is it possible to rotate a viewport to an angle other than 90 degrees. I am trying to rotate a viewport 11 degrees counter clockwise. I cannot rotate the model.
So I've created this wall section and used viewbreaks to break the crop regios up so i can fit the final view on a sheet. The problem is, when I place the broken up section on a sheet, the viewport does not break up like the view region. Â How do i break up the viewport on the sheet so I can squeeze the visable regions together?
I am trying to throw a screen shot up onto a TV model to make my rendering more fun and I can't get it to work right!!! Â I duplicated one of the standard plastic materials in Revit's lib and replaced the color with a cutom image (first tried jpg then png). I had to tweak the transforms to get it to fit the screen. Looks great in the camera view but when I render the transforms are off. Â Here are some images to illustrate the issue.
I just indentified over 20,000 files that Adobe installs (CS3, Lightroom,Elements & Premiere Elements) for various languages This gives me the following drawbacks occupes disks spaceslows down virus scansslows down malware scansslows down back-upsslows down my disk imagingincreases disk wear and tearclogs up the system so that indexing screen refreshes etc takes longerlots of small size files have significantly more impact on speed etc than large files. I only use English, I will NEVER install any other language. Can I not delete these files (they should not have been installed in the first place, but I'm assuming Adobe will not change this). I did see one previous question on this but it was unanswered. The sheer scale (something approaching 20% of the total files on my PC) are occupied by what appears to be completely un-necessary files.
I'm trying to delete a unused layer. But when I do that I get the following error (see attachment). I googled a bit and figured out that the LAYDEL command might solve my issue, but as I'm using Autocad 2013, that's not possible, as it doesn't have this command..
The block that causes the error can also be deleted, I tried with the purge command, but must be doing something wrong cause it didn't work. With regard to the purge command, I see it this way (attachment 2), how can you display it in a window kind of view to get a better overview?
Is there a way to "clean up" the material editor of unused materials? i.e. in Maya you can choose to delete unused nodes, so the only materials that remain are the ones in your scene.
I just moved from CS4 to CS6 illustator. I'm trying to remove the unused swatches in my swatch pallet but do not see this as an option when I click on the menu in the upper right corner of the window.
Problem: When I create a new viewport, another viewport's paperspace blanks out or disappears. When I copy a viewport over, the new VP doesn't show anything and you can't maximize/"enter" its paperspace; it's like a simple rectangle, but the properties box says it is indeed a viewport.
Ex. Viewport 1 shows the top view of an object, Viewport 2 shows the right side view... as soon as I add Viewport 3, the top view in VP 1 blacks out. I attempt to ReDraw, Regenerate, etc, but it doesn't re-appear. I've run Plot Preview to see if maybe it's just a fluke with the graphics card on my screen, but alas, even in plot preview the viewport is blanked out.
It almost seems like there is a limited number of viewports I can use.
Solution: Run the MaxActVP command and set the value to a number greater than the number of VPs you actually need. This particular file had that value set at 2; hence, why a new, third VP blanked out the first one.
