Is there a way to "clean up" the material editor of unused materials? i.e. in Maya you can choose to delete unused nodes, so the only materials that remain are the ones in your scene.
View 2 RepliesI have an iassembly with iparts in an .iam file and I went to make a shop drawing of this assembly. When I go to do this, I get my parts list showing all versions of the iparts, even the ones that are not used. It will show a 0 in quantity.
This is under the "structured" view and I do not see a "pars" tab, which is what I've read I need to look for.
I've read that I have to be very careful with the way that I create iassemblies and iparts, How to make a drawing with a BOM that only shows the parts currently in use.
In the 2010 M/MapBrowser I could save all scene materials to a .mat library with two mouse clicks. I can't see how to do this in the new M/MapBrowser except dragging them one by one into the new mat tab.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I merge geometry into a scene that is already using the same materials, it prompts me what I want to do. I always select "Use scene materials"...however, whenever I look at the slate, it shows duplicates all over the place. To keep mat library optimized becomes a task when you are dealing with a lot of materials.
Why does MAX not listen to me when I tell it to use the scene materials that have matching names?

A while ago I thought I saw in a tutorial the ability to merger materials from another scene without merging the geometry. I have dug around a bit but can't figure out how to do this, or if it's even possible.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to find where the shader parameters are in the compact material editor in 2013. When In the attached picture, I've shown how it looks when I open it.
I've looked all over online and checked out every rollout in the editor and can't seem to find it anywhere... and all the online tutorials (lynda, etc) say they're for 2013 but are really for 2012.
viewport2.0 is not supporting for mental ray shaders. When in enable view port mental ray shaders are showing in pink color.

I only use English, I will NEVER install any other language. Can I not delete these files (they should not have been installed in the first place, but I'm assuming Adobe will not change this). I did see one previous question on this but it was unanswered. The sheer scale (something approaching 20% of the total files on my PC) are occupied by what appears to be completely un-necessary files.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to delete a unused layer. But when I do that I get the following error (see attachment). I googled a bit and figured out that the LAYDEL command might solve my issue, but as I'm using Autocad 2013, that's not possible, as it doesn't have this command..
The block that causes the error can also be deleted, I tried with the purge command, but must be doing something wrong cause it didn't work. With regard to the purge command, I see it this way (attachment 2), how can you display it in a window kind of view to get a better overview?
Deleteting unused viewport types from Revit Arch 2013? I have a project that had some detail views imported from another project and brought along some unwanted viewport styles. Purge Unused does no good. There are no instances of the unwanted viewports in the project either.

I can delete the excel sheet from the assmbly and its parts too, but I can't delete the unused parameters in "List parameters "
And, I can't link a new excel sheet to this assembly, even if I changed the name or made a new one,why?

I’m currently cleaning up an old file that is rather large. (so large I cant xref anything with out AutoCAD crashing)
There are way too many “blocks” in the file, about 700 in all. Of these 700, more then 600 of them aren’t even being used anymore.
Is there a way to purge out unused blocks?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a user ask why some dimension styles cannot be purged even if all the dimensions are deleted from the project.
Most probably the dimension style is used in a family that is loaded in the project.
When you select all dimension instances in the entire project, it will not select those included in the families. But the purge function will 'see' that it is still used in a family and therefore it will not be listed in the purge dialog.
So you will have to find in which family the dimension style is used.
I don't think there is an easy way to do it. I would make a copy of the project and then delete a bunch of families until the dimension style can be purged, then refine the research until to find the family that contains the dimension style.
I've been archiving then deleting projects out of Smoke. However, my media hard drive is not gaining available space.

Is there a safe way to purge any unused media?
I have an CAD file with a lot blocks which I don't use. I would like to delete them. So I do "Purge" which took care of some but not all. There are still a lot of "cannot purge" blocks. So I do "Insert", I see about 30 blocks. Choosing one of those, I can edit the block. (Doing the "Insert" was just my beginner's test step to see how many unwant blocks I still have.) I believe they cannot be purged because they are nested.
How can I delete the 'cannot be purged" unused blocks?
I know a lot of the blocks have other blocks nested in them. Is deleting the 'parent' blocks enough for me to purge?
I received a file (exported from datacad) with apx. ~1000 dimension styles. I selected all dimensions and changed their style to a new style. Now I want to delete the old styles, but Autocad says they are used. I tried purging, but it doesn't work.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a new template all the correct linetypes are there and the drawing works fine, I can purge and they are deleted if not in use.
When I copy ANYTHING from one of my existing drawings which contains all these odd linetypes then they all appear in the new drawings and they will not purge.
ANYTHING = Text, blocks, lines... etc.
From reading about similar problems I think it has risesn from Binding/Inserting (I cant remember which one I used) of a Xref orignially from Microstation into a drawing I did about 3 months ago. The linetypes have just stuck around.
I have a large xref from a client that is causing me some grief. When I open it, I get a message about it having over 5,000 annotative scales (seriously!). What do I need to do to get rid of them? I'm not a big fan of xref's & things like this make me like them even less!

What I'm trying to determine is if it's sufficient to compare the Fill and Stroke Color of each Path Item (every path item of current document) or are there other items that should be examined to achieve the same results as the command in the Swatches panel menu? Page Items doesn't appear to contain a Fill Color property. I've got AppleScript code that appears to do the trick, but I'd like to get input so as to make sure I'm not missing something that my testing might not have uncovered.
Just wondering is there a button that removes all unused swatches in an illustrator file?
