Is there a way to hide the lines between areas created via the split face tool? If not, my end goal is to have an area on a surface appear a different color than the surrounding area, with no lines between. The surface is the face of an extrusion in an in-place family.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to model plug welds in IV2014. I've read all the posts here that say that I need to split the hole faces. Problem is, the split face command doesn't seem to appear in weldments. I want to make the holes to be plugged as a weld preparation. Am I just missing something here, or is IV so backward that a common weld can only be achieved when not working with a weldment?

This is all just projected geometry but left and right are symmetrical so I can't figure out why the L side works but not the R side.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use the split face tool on my ipt. When i create a idw of this part I want to show the split face line in the drawing. When I initially place the view the line is shown, however when the place view command is finished the line is not shown.
I see nothing obvious in the place view dialog box controlling the visibility of this line............how do i show this line in the view?

I'm able to export all Areas to IFC using Revit 2013 and the IFC Exporter V2.14 (found in Autodesk Exchange Apps). Using Revit 2014 and the newest IFC Exporter V3.6 (also from Autodesk Exchange Apps), I've been able to export only Gross Building Areas, not the Rentable Areas. Is the IFC Exporter for Revit 2014 more limited than the one for 2013.

When I draw porches with railings, I often spend many minutes trimming out the objects behind the railing. So if my metal top rail is 1" thick (running horiz) and my vertical rails are 1" wide, 5" on center, I have to trim out all the lines inside those 1" rails.
I received an Autocad file from another designer not too long ago that had some sort of clear fill inside his rails, so the rails hid what was behind it (but it was not colored fill, black or white, or whatever... it matched the background color). If I erased the rail, the window behind it was there in it's entirety.
I tried to 'erase' the fill, but it does not seem to be there. I am so tired of spending 20-30 minutes per house just trimming out the doors and windows behind.
I am using acad2010, with medium expertise. I want to hide some part of lines so as to indicate the part is behind some object. I don't want to break the line as I need to create separate sketches for the same, or needs to list for the properties.
Refer attached drawing, fig 1 shows the actual model and fig 2 shows how I required when i print it.
We have drawing lists that exceed the area available on the sheet and want to split it between 2 sheets. I have accomplished this with a parameter that can be filtered per view but was wondering if there were any other methods you may have used?.

I have a dwg attached and it contains several closed polylines. when i am in subregion menu i use the pick line tool pressing the tab to pick all the loop. I can pick some loops but not all. I cant see any difference between the closed polylines. why i cant pick all the loops? Is there another way to pick a lot of segments at one. Manually is very difficult . All the polys have a lot of segments
View 2 Replies View RelatedI already have a revit model of a building with the areas identified like "room A", "room B", etc. I exported it to FBX and opened with Unity but the information about the rooms was not there (I am assuming FBX format does not save that information)
I might be wrong but I beleive IFC format saves this information. The problem is that Unity does not import IFC files and the file seems way too complicated to make my own parser to read it. I was wondering if there is a lib or something that I could use to visualize the 3D model without losing the rooms identification.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy plans are printing fine, but elevations and any 3d view print with the majority of the drawing missing. I'm guessing it has to do with the raster images used on walls for textures, but besides that I'm stumped. I'm trying to print in realistic view, because of the material textures that need to show up.
I've turned on sun lighting, as well as tried various PDF printers, but no change. When I go to the print preview it appears to preview incorrectly. The file is pretty small as the project is just a modest house. Pretty much all the settings are 'right out of the box'.
When I shift back to just 'Hidden line' mode and look at it in print preview it seems to print the drawing fine, but then the titleblock and firm logo dissapear. The actual PDF when printed is fine.

I have an urgent need to calculate the foam fill inbetween two slabs on different planes. Also, the foam will come in 4x8' pieces. I am fairly good at family creation but am a little perplexed as how to start this one.

In Revit sections, we can add split segment in plan.
How can we show the Horizontal sections in sectional view and how can we split the horizontal section such that the drop is vertical.
I know that one workaround to show vertical drop is to use plan region on the Horizontal Plan View. But is there a better way? If not is autodesk looking forward to incorporate this in further releases?

I'm working with floor plans from another company, the drawing contains xref for the floor plans and other blocks. I need to label some of our equipment. I'm simply using a DTEXT label inside a rectangle as a block with the text as an atribute.
I'd like to place the label on the floor plan and have it hide anything underneath. I do this with 3D blocks for other work, but I'm looking for a quick and dirty solution.
