I need to report the area of two external areas. One area is the complete site area whilst the second is that portion of the site area being developed. By necessity they overlap, but Revit does not appear to allow this, or does it? Is there a workaround?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to run a parcel area report generator, and I get the above error message, along with the path xslParcel_Area.xsl and an advisory to reinstall the program.
I think it is pointing to the full path location of C:ProgramDataAutodeskC3D 2012enuDataReportsxsl.
The file (Parcel_Areas.xsl) exists in this location.
NONE of the parcel reports that I tried to execute work - they all return the same grammtically painful error message.
I've been trying to calculate large areas using fills but I keep encountering a problem with some of the hatches not showing an area and thus ruining my calculation. I've found out that I can correct it by removing certain crossing point between lines as is shown below in my screenshots. Is there any reason this is causing a particular problem and can I avoid it to save me having to go back over my hatches checking for these malformed hatches?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having some issues getting a shared Volume parameter to work and report in a tag correctly. I can get the tag to report a value, but it is reporting the a value based on default values of the column (9*2*2) and not the value of the actual column (shown in the properites). Also, the tag I create reports a question mark, not the volume calculated. I've tried this a million times so it could be I have crossed up a parameter somewhere.

I am trying to show my dims as brick units (based on standard metric bricks 215x102.5x65mm with 10mm mortar joint), and was hoping to create new 3 dim types, based on CO+, CO- and CO, so the alternate dims i want would be:
CO+ =[value-10]/225CO- =[value+10]/225CO simply =[value/225]
with the appropriate suffixes (CO+, CO- and CO). If this is possible..... or on the cards?
I'm able to export all Areas to IFC using Revit 2013 and the IFC Exporter V2.14 (found in Autodesk Exchange Apps). Using Revit 2014 and the newest IFC Exporter V3.6 (also from Autodesk Exchange Apps), I've been able to export only Gross Building Areas, not the Rentable Areas. Is the IFC Exporter for Revit 2014 more limited than the one for 2013.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI already have a revit model of a building with the areas identified like "room A", "room B", etc. I exported it to FBX and opened with Unity but the information about the rooms was not there (I am assuming FBX format does not save that information)
I might be wrong but I beleive IFC format saves this information. The problem is that Unity does not import IFC files and the file seems way too complicated to make my own parser to read it. I was wondering if there is a lib or something that I could use to visualize the 3D model without losing the rooms identification.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy plans are printing fine, but elevations and any 3d view print with the majority of the drawing missing. I'm guessing it has to do with the raster images used on walls for textures, but besides that I'm stumped. I'm trying to print in realistic view, because of the material textures that need to show up.
I've turned on sun lighting, as well as tried various PDF printers, but no change. When I go to the print preview it appears to preview incorrectly. The file is pretty small as the project is just a modest house. Pretty much all the settings are 'right out of the box'.
When I shift back to just 'Hidden line' mode and look at it in print preview it seems to print the drawing fine, but then the titleblock and firm logo dissapear. The actual PDF when printed is fine.

I have an urgent need to calculate the foam fill inbetween two slabs on different planes. Also, the foam will come in 4x8' pieces. I am fairly good at family creation but am a little perplexed as how to start this one.

Is there a way to hide the lines between areas created via the split face tool? If not, my end goal is to have an area on a surface appear a different color than the surrounding area, with no lines between. The surface is the face of an extrusion in an in-place family.

In the image below I have an aerial photo of an Island. I need to make it so as water areas are black and land areas are white (not greyscale) almost like a silhouette. My first plan was to draw round the island with a black paint brush and then use the "bucket fill" with a suitable threshold to fill all of the areas up to the black outline with black, however this doesn't work as the bucket fill either breaks through the black line or when I reduce the threshold, doesn't color the water areas solidly.

Every time i try and add the top landing i either get boundary error messages or railings surround top landing.
I've been working up a window family that includes a correction for sizing the window to the structural core rather than a finish (plaster and render) which is what Revit does by default.
I've managed to get the system functioning correctly at plan reveals - but for some reason, the finishes will not wrap at window head / cill level. I've set up 2 wall closure ref planes - called 'Closure External' and 'Closure Internal' and used these to control the extent of the finish wrapping.
I've gone away to check the perfomance of the standard revit window families - and all of them seem to do the same thing, and fail to wrap any of the finishes at the window head despite wrapping correctly at plan reveals.
In all cases above - the walls are set to wrap both internal and external at inserts.
In previous versions of Revit (pre 2013) when creating an area plan and inserting the area within the created boundaries, I could double click on the 'Area' tag and rename 'area' to something more descriptive which automatically changed the name in the legend to match.
In 2013 this is no longer possible.Even opening a 2012 project, where this procedure worked, once this project is saved in 2013 format it is no longer possible to double click to change - it opens the family tag instead.

I have been dealing with a tolerance issue when trying to create room area calculations in Revit. There seems to be a tolerance that is set to somewhere under 9" if two walls are to close together it will ignore the area.
Although if you are using the area calculation this tolerance is set much finer. and it seems to work just fine. I have already tried to create a multicategory schedule but cant combine rooms and areas. I have attached an image .

How do I get Revit to schedule the gross exterior wall area? An isolated wall will schedule OK, but once you join it to another at a corner, the reported wall area doesn't match the exterior wall area.
