I am just starting to use revit and in trying to do some tutorials i am having problems with the grid bubbles. The bubbles are so small that there is no visible text inside them and since the bubbles are so small it makes it difficult to adjust the lines and understand which line is which.Â
Â
is this a configuration issue, scale issue, type issue? I havge tried to load grid bubble families but this does not change anything
I have just started learning Revit Architecture by walking through the Youtube tutorials. The only problem I have had is not having any grid bubbles showing up. Is there somethine wrong with my settings or do I maybe have a simple box unchecked?
Revit has a propensity to locate a lay-in ceiling grid with a grid intersection in the center of the room. You can use the alignment tool to align the grid with a wall. But I see no way to center a tile in a room. This is often a necessity in a narrow room, to keep the lights centered. Also, installers, when not given specific instructions to the contrary, will often locate the ceiling grid to minimize narrow tiles at the wall. We need more control over the position of the grid.
I'm looking for an option to adjust the grid size and to snap-to-grid.  For some purposes, you can find a way around this, but it is a pain when working on a project that requires perfect precision.  The topic has been brought up before, but I'm hoping to hear of any news on the possibility of implementing it. I don't assume there has been made any plugins to cater this need since earlier posts on the matter, so I'm hoping to persuade developers to implement the feature in a new version of paint.net instead.  If you need to know more specifically what I'm looking for, then it's basically what you have in Adobe Illustrator or any decent 3D modelling software you will ever come across. It would work pretty much exactly like the grid already in place, except you would not be limited to working only with individual pixels, but rather groups of pixels as you zoom further out. The grid would preferably have thicker lines every 5, 10 or 15 lines, etc. for user to position the various elements.
I'm working now on a project with canvas size A4 (5600x4200).i'm working with large objects and small objects each in its own layer.i wanted to align few object in a certain way and i wanted to use the grid for this.however the grid is so small and can only be seen using 66% and more zoom in. which makes it impossible to align the object since i can't see all of them together.
is there any way to adjust the grid to be in proportion to the correct zoom or not window ? as a workaround i found is the grid plugin , but with it i must recreate the grid for each zoom size and its hard to work like this. having the grid adjusted automatically or at least allow max/min setting for it so it can be seen in an A4 size canvas.
Is there a setting to export the grid lines of ACT ceiling in a 3D view to DWG? Â I don't know if there is because I can't even get the grid lines to show in a 3d view. Right now the view shows the ACT ceiling as a simple geometric shape.
I created a building section and all grid lines appear. Â I selected all grids that I want to appear in the building section, switched to 2D, and adjusted as desired. Â From that building section I created a callout for a stair section detail. Â In the callout view, some grid lines appear but not all grid lines appear. Â I turned off crop view but they still do not appear.
I've been looking for an option to change the size of the grid (32 x 32, 64 x 64, that sort of thing) but I can't seem to find it, I also can't find any option to snap to grid.
how to size the grid and set it to snap to the grid. I work with 96 dpi pixel art and need it to snap to each pixel which is actually 6 pixels at 96dpi.
I'm using Revit 2014 & have not been able to fade the ceiling grid lines so they don't plot out so heavy on my dwgs. I've tried overriding graphics of these grids with half tone which didn't work then I tried transparency & that did not work. They either stay on or turn right off!
Are there any plans to add the simple yet productive feature of moving an object in the X and Y directions at the same time? Also, I would love to be able to select the ceiling grid and hit the space bar and have the grid rotate 90 degrees.
I've created a non-symmetrical curtain wall mullion profile. When I assign that profile to a vertical curtain grid line, it is flipped in the project. In the attached image, you can see that the brace on the right in the family plan view is on the left in the project plan view.
I'm trying to create a 3 digit grid bubble that will align vertically along an elevation, but my grid bubble in use within the project insists on the text being horizontal... Is there any way to force the alignment to vertical...?
After creating a series of grid lines. when i try to select any one of them, it automatically shifts the grid line up several feet (in the plan view) and shifts it over to make it an even distance from the next gridline. therefore it is no longer in the correct position (or aligned with the rest of the grid lines). is there a snap setting or something i am missing when i just want to select a grid line without moving it? even with snaps off, it still happens.Â
I don't know why this isn't working for me today. I want to edit the Bay Size of my Ceiling Grid in one room. When I select the Grid..right click Properties and select the Bay Size, I can't seem to change the size.Â
I set up a new page thus (I live in a country which uses metric units, so ...):
Drawing Units Setting18-07-2013 9-24-06 AM.jpg
Then:
Command: '_limits Reset Model space limits: Specify lower left corner or [ON/OFF] <0.0000,0.0000>: 0.00,0.00 Specify upper right corner <3.5000,2.7000>: 3.65,2.74 Command: C CIRCLE Specify center point for circle or [3P/2P/Ttr (tan tan radius)]: 1000,1000 Specify radius of circle or [Diameter]: 250 Command:
and I get:
Range Problem 18-07-2013 9-36-57 AM.jpg
The circle was centred at x=1000 metres, y=1000 metres, yet it displays right down at the bottom left of my screen. Compare the radius of the circle to the distance from the centre to the origin - it's nothing like 1:4! Look at the coordinates for the cursor!
Zooming in and zooming out has no effect on the huge dimensions indicated by the coordinates.
I know this must be simple because it is not mentioned in any textbook or tutorial I have been able to find. Authors don't seem to think it is important, but it's driving me nuts! The question is this:
How do I set the page size and grid scale to something sane?
I am pretty sure that this scale problem is at the root of many of the other problems I am having. A14 is doing it's job faithfully but the display is so small that I cannot see what is happening !
I am using Revit Architecture 2013 and am trying to create a window family that has different grid options built into the family. Â I have included a copy of one of my window families I am working on and an image for an examples of what happens when I load all my windows into a project and place them. Â Some of the grid families do not automatically adjust to the size it should be. Â But if I click on the window (lets say it as no grids) and then select the no grid parameter again then it will adjust. How I can get these windows to adjust automatically so I don't need to do an extra step to make them look right!?Â
1) Is there a way when packing UVs to force 3DS to use the entire 0-1 space? There always seems to be padding regardless of if it is set to 0 in the software. If I'm using a tilable texture this creates seams since it doesn't go all the way to the end of the UV space. I have to manually snap the vertex points on the UV to the corners of the 0-1 space. Â 2) Is there a way to have 3DS keep the size of the grid in the UV editor? If I set the UV grid size to something specific it always resets it back to .5 if I go back in at another point or for a different object.
A project I'm working on needs Speech Bubbles with text in them. I Couldn't find this option anywhere. So I started creating the bubbles in PSP x4 and overlaying them in.This works but its a pain when you need 100 of them.Is there an easier way builtin to VideoStudio X4 Ultimate that I can use.
Something has happened and now I cannot select grid lines in curtain walls. Â I can tab to highlight the grid line (dashed blue line) and click once. Â This used to make the grid line a more solid blue and witness line dimensions appeared. Â Now the cursor becomes a "move cursor" (four arrows), the grid line highlight disappears and there are no witness lines.
Nothing is pinned. Â The vertical grid pattern is not fixed. Â I've restarted Revit and I still can't select a grid line like before. Â This problem started when I tried to change a grid line in a curtain wall that I forgot was part of a group. Â It let me select the grid line and when I changed the witness line dimension value there was an error message with no information except for entity ID and a cancel button. Â After that I could no longer select grid lines in this project. Â If I copy and paste a curtain wall from the project to a default (see attached) I cannot select there either. Â I can still select grid lines in other older projects, however.Â
I'm trying to itemize every grid in the project and then export it to a text file. Grids are not an option under the schedule/quantities or material takeoffs. I'm not sure where else to start.
