Paint.NET :: Option To Change Size Of Grid?
Mar 7, 2010I've been looking for an option to change the size of the grid (32 x 32, 64 x 64, that sort of thing) but I can't seem to find it, I also can't find any option to snap to grid.

Â
For some purposes, you can find a way around this, but it is a pain when working on a project that requires perfect precision.Â
Â
The topic has been brought up before, but I'm hoping to hear of any news on the possibility of implementing it. I don't assume there has been made any plugins to cater this need since earlier posts on the matter, so I'm hoping to persuade developers to implement the feature in a new version of paint.net instead.
Â
If you need to know more specifically what I'm looking for, then it's basically what you have in Adobe Illustrator or any decent 3D modelling software you will ever come across. It would work pretty much exactly like the grid already in place, except you would not be limited to working only with individual pixels, but rather groups of pixels as you zoom further out. The grid would preferably have thicker lines every 5, 10 or 15 lines, etc. for user to position the various elements.
Implement the option to change the transparency grid colors, even if it's only a simple toggle between dark/light grids. It would work when drawing light objects.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working now on a project with canvas size A4 (5600x4200).i'm working with large objects and small objects each in its own layer.i wanted to align few object in a certain way and i wanted to use the grid for this.however the grid is so small and can only be seen using 66% and more zoom in. which makes it impossible to align the object since i can't see all of them together.
is there any way to adjust the grid to be in proportion to the correct zoom or not window ? as a workaround i found is the grid plugin , but with it i must recreate the grid for each zoom size and its hard to work like this. having the grid adjusted automatically or at least allow max/min setting for it so it can be seen in an A4 size canvas.
The grid view will not change size - why not?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn previous versions through customize options there was the option to tick for large icons. It has been left out of X4 or is it there and I can't find it. That option was very good for big screens. Do they intend to bring it back in the update along with the colored icons.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've converted a 2D image into a smart object, dragged into a project then transformed it using the Distort command (similar to how you might distort a 2d image to make it sit inside a photo frame at an angle) . I need to then warp that image around over something that looks like a curved panel thats 2D but looks 3d. Its not a 3d object, but a rendered 2d image that just looks 3d.
Â
I'm using the Transform > Warp tool as Puppet Warp isnt available after using Distort when using Smart objects.
Â
Warp works fine to some extent but I could really do with more handles and smaler grid for more accurate warping rather than the default 3x3 grid & handles..
Â
Possible to add more handles/ nodes/ control points (or whatever they'e called) and/ or increase grid points in the same way Puppet Warp does this so as I drag around I control a tigher & smaller space?
I'm using paint.net ver. 2.6.
I'm trying to measure length using the grid and viewing the image in its "actual size", but 'm getting a wrong value (e.g. 3cm instead of 1cm).

Is there a correct way to measure length in paint.net?
1) Can I put some sort of grid overlay onto the canvas?
2) How can I insert rectangles of a specific size>?
I'm using Paint.NET 3.5.8 on Windows 7 SP1 64-bit.
While editing small (16 x 16) images, I noticed that Paint.NET used a grid with a width of 2 pixels. Selection rectangles snap to this grid, as do paste operations.
How can I specify the grid width or disable this snap to grid effect altogether?
I want to change the size of a image for instance image size 6"x4" I would like to change this to 3"x3" or 4"x4" without distorting the image. It is easy to do this in paint.net
View 5 Replies View RelatedExactly what the topic title says. My goal is to draw a custom map with pinpoint accuracy compared to what I envision it as. So, I want to use a grid that I can fill in the individual sections of to create this image, and then remove the grid afterwards when I finish, or at least make it completely invisible.
Is there anyway to accomplish that?
My Canon 7D typically produces a JPG file in the 5B to 12MB range if set to the largest JPG quality. My problem is that if I open for example a 7MB file in Photo Pro X3 and save it again (even if I make no changes) the resulting file is about 2MB. Obviously some compression is happening which I want to avoid/control. Is it possible to set the default compression that X3 uses?
If I use file - export - JPG optimizer I can control things but if I for example want to do a batch process on lots of files. I have used Paint shop Pro since version 5 and love it but I might have to change to another editor if I cannot solve this one.
So some of you may have used, are using or heard of the Fill from clipboard plugin. Is there any way that you can get it to change the size of the image within or stop it from being tiled? Tiled as in picture next to picture next to picture?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible for me to change the default size of the new image which loads when paint.net is started?
It would be useful for me to start with an image size of 1024 x 1024.
I am aware that I can change the size of images, and that the size of any new image created after loading is the same as the last image.
Edit: I just realised a workaround. I saved a blank 1024 square pdn file to my desktop. Clicking this starts paint.net with this sized image.
How to change default canvas size when creating new file ?
Default canvas size are 800x600 px . I want set it to 500x414 px by default .
This is for Rectangle Select. I read somewhere else that it's possible but it didn't say how. I would also like to change the default for fixed ratio from 4:3 to something like 1:1 (square).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI wanted to combine two images one needs to be fit to the scale of the background image. So basically I followed the instructions.
Open up your background layer which was 800x600 landscape photo.
Then I imported my other image which was 600x800 portrait photo too. Layers -Import from file. I resized it then copied into a new layer. That was fine.
The problem is as soon as the new image is imported, the background image changes so that it only takes up half of the canvas. So now I've got a white area for half of the canvas. I can't seem to change this.
Bristle brushes have an option near their size sliders named "restore to original size" ... but for some brushes, this option is resetting brushes to another size other than the original size appearing on the brush swacthes.

I am using LR 4.2 (on Mac) and have been using LR since 2.0. Yesterday all the badges on all my photos disappeared in Grid View. I didn't change any prefernce settings, or update that I am aware of. When I go to View > Grid View Styles> Show Badges, that option is checked, however it is grayed out. On the Mac that usually indicates it is not a viable option.
Â
I've restarted the program but the problem remains. how to bring back badges?
I'm using Photoshop CS5 and as you can see on the picture below, when I set my grid line to every 1 px, grid doesn't match canvas pixel size.
Now I'm not able to draw sharp shapes using pen tool because even if I hold shift key everything gets blurry.Â
I am just starting to use revit and in trying to do some tutorials i am having problems with the grid bubbles. The bubbles are so small that there is no visible text inside them and since the bubbles are so small it makes it difficult to adjust the lines and understand which line is which.Â
Â
is this a configuration issue, scale issue, type issue? I havge tried to load grid bubble families but this does not change anything
I don't know why this isn't working for me today. I want to edit the Bay Size of my Ceiling Grid in one room. When I select the Grid..right click Properties and select the Bay Size, I can't seem to change the size.Â

The circle was centred at x=1000 metres, y=1000 metres, yet it displays right down at the bottom left of my screen. Compare the radius of the circle to the distance from the centre to the origin - it's nothing like 1:4! Look at the coordinates for the cursor!
Zooming in and zooming out has no effect on the huge dimensions indicated by the coordinates.
I know this must be simple because it is not mentioned in any textbook or tutorial I have been able to find. Authors don't seem to think it is important, but it's driving me nuts! The question is this:
How do I set the page size and grid scale to something sane?
I am pretty sure that this scale problem is at the root of many of the other problems I am having. A14 is doing it's job faithfully but the display is so small that I cannot see what is happening !
Im supposed to have a slider that allows me to change the size of my thumbnails.
I cant figure out how to get it back on my UI.
Where is the menu that tells it to show on the interface?
1) Is there a way when packing UVs to force 3DS to use the entire 0-1 space? There always seems to be padding regardless of if it is set to 0 in the software. If I'm using a tilable texture this creates seams since it doesn't go all the way to the end of the UV space. I have to manually snap the vertex points on the UV to the corners of the 0-1 space.
Â
2) Is there a way to have 3DS keep the size of the grid in the UV editor? If I set the UV grid size to something specific it always resets it back to .5 if I go back in at another point or for a different object.
tryng to resize some pictures for the web I notice under Image ---- image size a button marked Auto. Pressed it and it increased by print resolution from 91 to 266 ( whichI think is a commercial printing resolution) However when I now reduced the image in size I got a better end product. So I've searched the help file for info on what/how this auto button does but can't find anything.
