View 1 RepliesI created a building section and all grid lines appear. I selected all grids that I want to appear in the building section, switched to 2D, and adjusted as desired. From that building section I created a callout for a stair section detail. In the callout view, some grid lines appear but not all grid lines appear. I turned off crop view but they still do not appear.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've created a non-symmetrical curtain wall mullion profile. When I assign that profile to a vertical curtain grid line, it is flipped in the project. In the attached image, you can see that the brace on the right in the family plan view is on the left in the project plan view.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSomething has happened and now I cannot select grid lines in curtain walls. I can tab to highlight the grid line (dashed blue line) and click once. This used to make the grid line a more solid blue and witness line dimensions appeared. Now the cursor becomes a "move cursor" (four arrows), the grid line highlight disappears and there are no witness lines.
Nothing is pinned. The vertical grid pattern is not fixed. I've restarted Revit and I still can't select a grid line like before.
This problem started when I tried to change a grid line in a curtain wall that I forgot was part of a group. It let me select the grid line and when I changed the witness line dimension value there was an error message with no information except for entity ID and a cancel button. After that I could no longer select grid lines in this project. If I copy and paste a curtain wall from the project to a default (see attached) I cannot select there either. I can still select grid lines in other older projects, however.

I'm having a bit of trouble using a curtain wall BIM model that I downloaded from a manufacturer's web site.
It seems like the vertical mullions are not centered on the grid lines; one side of the mullion is 1 3/16" from the grid line while the other is 1 13/16" away. If you look at the mullion in plan, you'll see the same issue. If you look at the profile rfa file, it appears that the centerline is properly located and locked, it's just in the project file where it's off.
If I select the mullion in the browser the right-click, Make Element Editable is grayed out.
If I select the mullion in the drawing area, un-pin it and then right-click, Edit Family is grayed out.
If i select the mullion in the drawing area then click Edit Type, the Type Properties dialog box shows the two parameters in the Dimensions group, "Width on side 2" and "Width on side 1", that are uneven by the same amount that the mullion is off of the grid line. I suspect that this the issue, but these are both grayed out and I can't locate their origin. If I duplicate the mullion, those parameters are still grayed out.I can save the profile, but not the mullion, which is showing the issue and contains the parameters that I want to change. How I can select and edit the mullion?
I need an offset lisp routine to offset a selected line a set distance on each side of the selected line and change the layer of the offset lines to the current layer, and then keep prompting me to select the next line for offsetting until I'm finished.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRevit has a propensity to locate a lay-in ceiling grid with a grid intersection in the center of the room. You can use the alignment tool to align the grid with a wall. But I see no way to center a tile in a room. This is often a necessity in a narrow room, to keep the lights centered. Also, installers, when not given specific instructions to the contrary, will often locate the ceiling grid to minimize narrow tiles at the wall. We need more control over the position of the grid.

I need a creative way to do something I know can be done in SW and Pro-E but as far as I know can not be done in Inventor to date
I am using the origin center line and semitry to control a box and its associated geometry and want to control the position or offset of a second box relitive to the first using a center line associated to the second box with a dimension. Problem is that the dim will only control its off set position relitive to the initial side from which the dim was placed. I.E. if the dim is placed when the CL of the second box is to the right it can not be moved to the left (what would in essence be a -dim condition) understandably Inventor does not like that but SW and Pro-E can use there little wheel and roll it down to 0 and then back up to a + dim in the opposit or in this case Left direction.
I know that I could place a dim off the interior wall of my first box geometry and associate it to the CL of the second box but the math to that may or may not be appropreatly effective in other words in condition A it may need to be 1/3 of d1 and in condition B it may need to be 2/3's of d1 or some other dimension.
I would love to be able to do this via iLogic or perhaps something to do with the placement relitive to a construction geometry utilizing a circle but so far I have not found a viable solution.
I am having a problem with some dimensions in a drawing. I have a 2D representation of my 3D model (using FLATSHOT) in my model space. I added the dimensions in a custom UCS and everything looks fine in paper space when looking at the TOP view but in model space I notice that the text is offset on the z-axis by a very large amount, like 7 meters large (I'm working in mm). How to fix the offset and get the text on the same plane as the line work?

There are many lisp that draw offset line but what about opposite way , I have wall of double line i need to delete one of them let's say inside wall line .
why i need to do this usually when i tracing in external program like autocad architecture or Revit or archicad i just need outline of exterior and interior walls !.
is there way that can delete the offset line ?(or within range predefined in lisp to prevent interfering of lines deletion).
Is there a way to draw a single line offset to the geometry that I select? I am trying to use multi line by modifying a style but it will not allow for one line offset at 4".

If I build a wall using mass then I can make it into a pattern that I want but then I can't paint it so that's it's clear or see through. On the other hand if I build a wall just using the walls then I can't find an option for the block pattern.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a beginner at LISP and this is a bit out of my league... and I'm trying to create a lisp where I can draw a polyline between 2 points that also places text with the actual distance offset above the line.
I did find this post and I'm not quite catching on.. [URL] ......
Is it possible to read the current wall thickness of a door's host and use that dimension in a conditional statement to locate the frame's setback?
If the wall is deeper than the frame I want the door flush with the wall, if the frame is deeper than the wall, I want the door centered.
I set up a Wall Width paramenter in my door family but I keep getting the "Inconsistent units" error message.
I posted a version of the Offset command that lets you Undo individual Offsets and change the offset distance/Through option, without getting out of the command, at Cadalyst CAD Tips: URL....
It's an upgraded version of an earlier concept by Gopal Ramesh. It's been downloaded almost three times every day since it went up, so I guess people expect it will be useful.
But the website's description includes: "this routine does not provide access to the Layer or Erase options of the built-in Offset command." The reason for that is that I'm working back in 2004, so those options are not present for me to emulate. [The Undo option in the routine is one that was added in some later version, but is a very useful enhancement for people using older versions, like me.]
I do also have an Offset-to-any-Layer [not just the source's or the current Layer] routine posted there: URL....
And I have a simple little routine to Offset something and Erase the source object. So I think I have all the "pieces" to include those options that newer versions have, but that I don't. I would like to combine the functionalities into the Offset-with-running-options routine. That way, if people want to use it to redefine the Offset command as I have done, in order to get the while-running distance change option, those working in newer versions won't be losing the Erase and Layer options in the process, and those in older versions will be gaining yet more options.
I am creating a folding door model and would like to use a parameter called EXERIOR WALL OFFSET. I have used this parameter before but am having trouble getting it to work within my family. The only difference is that I created one frame/jamb instead of 4 seperate profiles. The question is, why can't i get the jamb to move within the wall using the exterior wall offset parameter? It seems to move the sash/panels just fine but the jamb is constrainted somehow.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am just starting to use revit and in trying to do some tutorials i am having problems with the grid bubbles. The bubbles are so small that there is no visible text inside them and since the bubbles are so small it makes it difficult to adjust the lines and understand which line is which.
is this a configuration issue, scale issue, type issue? I havge tried to load grid bubble families but this does not change anything
Is there a setting to export the grid lines of ACT ceiling in a 3D view to DWG?
I don't know if there is because I can't even get the grid lines to show in a 3d view. Right now the view shows the ACT ceiling as a simple geometric shape.
I have installed version 3.5.10 and I am working on a project where I need to overlay gridlines onto a photo. I have tried using the gridline feature, but that does not work, and I have watched a video tutorial which has good information but the tutorial was for version 3.5.8. The features that were in the tutorial seem not to be available to me with the version that I am using.
