Revit :: Door Schedule - Show Host Wall Type?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to make a schedule and I need to schedule walls, and filter by type. But this option is not available in the view properites/filter options in the schedule.
Is it possible to make this happen without creating an additional parameter for filtering? Which would also open up the potential for omissions in the schedule.
How can the dimensions for the system family door be shown in the door schedule?
I tried to make a instance paramater, type parameter, both through shared parameter for the doors in the family file, but they are still not showing up.

I selected the template created the family, but in mean time i can't understand the wall is having delete option.(i.e it is released from host). I am surprised to see that in the family type, the wall host is missing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use a formula in a family that requires the host wall thickness.
I've setup an instance reporting parameter (dimensioned to the host wall faces) - which works fine in reporting the correct value.
But when I try to use that variable in a formula, I keep getting the error:
"Instance Parameters can't be used in Type Parameter formulas."
Is there a way of getting the reported dimension as a Type rather than an Instance - or is there another work around ?
I would like to cut a void into the wall of a host window family. When I place a void in the family, it does not cut thought the wall.
I tried making the void on a plane perpendicular and parallel to the wall plane. I dont know if this has anything to do with how voids work. But its not working. I also dont have an 'opening' element in the window family.
I am trying to add the typical category of "glazing" to a door schedule, but when I add a door with glass into my project, I cannot make this information show up on my schedule. I need typical information such as "!/4" Temp" and "1" Insul" under the category of glazing. I added the "Door: Glass" heading in the schedule, but nothing appears when I add a glass door into the project. I was able to easily do this in AutoCAD Architecture.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I've created a door schedule and added all the parameters I needed. But to get the "room name" to list and be associated with the door tags I had to choose either if the doors were going to a room or from a room, so I chose to, however, some of the doors swing are leaving the room so instead of tagging them with the corridor we want them associated with the room. But I can't edit the column the room names are in. If I click on a cell it gives me a drop menu on the side of what I can choose for that cell and it doesn't have the listed room that I need. It does not let me just type in the cell is there a way to fix this?! The blue highlighted name shows my option of what I can list as the room name or I can leave it blank, it lets me click inside the cell as if I could just put text in it but it actually doesn't show anything that I type.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAny way to get a wall sweep that's set up in the type/structure properties to follow a wall if that walls profile has changed. For example, in the image below, I've split the wall and adjusted it's profile to create some cheesy angled parapet. How do i get my wall cap to follow along? I thought splitting it and changing it's height would work, but no. And if I change the profile without splitting the wall the wall cap just runs right through the wall, as if the profiel was never even changed.

--To clarify: I want my door schedule to create a new door number only when one or more of the property sets, classifications, or door styles pertaining to a door are not defined by other doors in the schedule. This would facilitate giving the same door number to multiple doors that have matching schedule information, and cut down on my schedule size.

When I try to change the length of a wall it grows at both end. How to grow at one end only?
When I change the wall type to one with a different thickness, I cannot control which face of the wall remains fixed and which face moves. eg: change from 130mm to 250mm screws up my room width. How do I do this?
Our model uses several material types for insulation, mostly rigid variations at this point. The various materials are used in floor, wall and roof systems. Is there a way to create a single schedule that would list insulation quantities across all three system types?

I don't know if this is possible, but can a door family read the rating of a wall and also have it read in the door schedule? I have tried applying a shared parameter on the door family and adding it in the project. I am not understanding how I can link the two together.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe only door I can find to insert into a glass curtain wall is a simple glass single door with a handle. I know this is a very particular thing and any door won't work. My door needs to have stiles and rails like most doors in storefronts or curtain walls. How do I create a type with these features? Do I need to create a family from scratch?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs the attached possible? I'm trying to cut out the plaster wrap to a wall, but can't figure out how to do it.
I've had a look at using reference planes in the door family object, but they don't seem to be able to do this?
Simply checking the wall type to wrap at only the external insert isn't going to work as I want the recess in the plaster to be away from the door frame edge.
I would like each type of light to only be listed on the schedule once. The schedules seem really unstable, everytime I look at it the whole thing has changed. There are so many extra items listed and I don't know where they came from. The mark numbers are weird like AAAA, AAAAAA, BBBB, BBBBB. I don't know how these got added or why they have such strange marks.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am creating a folding door model and would like to use a parameter called EXERIOR WALL OFFSET. I have used this parameter before but am having trouble getting it to work within my family. The only difference is that I created one frame/jamb instead of 4 seperate profiles. The question is, why can't i get the jamb to move within the wall using the exterior wall offset parameter? It seems to move the sash/panels just fine but the jamb is constrainted somehow.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIn a recent meeting wtih cilent, we asked her to review the Finish Schedule. She pointed out that one of the ceilings was supposed to be gypsum board rather than ACT. Looking on our RCP, it was showing gyp board, but the schedule, which is populated from the Room Properties, was calling out (the non-updated) ACT 2x2.
Is there some way to link the ceiling type directly to the finish schedule directly, rather than make double changes (updating the room properties and the actual ceiling type) in order for the proper information to be showing? Seems odd and not very useful to have this kind of redundancy and something that should have been worked out long ago in Revit.
The window type showed up in the window schedule. But the window dimension didn't.
What's the reason of it? I know you can enter the dimension directly into the schedule. But it would be nice if it comes it automatically. See attached file.
Is there a way to change the font type and size of the Level within the schedule?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a floor plan of a simple remodel to show cutting a new door into an existing wall. The plan has ALL the info on it; existing, demo, and new. I have applied the Show All phase filter. The door jamb lines of the new opening don't show up (see attachment). I can add detail lines to take care of the issue but then these have to be managed.
I am not interested in creating seperate demo and new views for such a simple project.
We usually run our own calculations for U Values using the BRE Calculator (UK Building Research Establishment).
I just carried out an experiment to check the value that appears in the Revit properties of a wall type (Heat Transfer Coefficient - U) for a given wall build up.
The result in Revit does not seem to correlate with the value that our calculator generates.
I have checked through the conductivity values for the materials (under thermal properties) - and using the exact same values the Revit generated figure is far more optimistic.
For a typical cavity wall construction:
Brick (102mm) @ 0.54 W/mK
Cavity/air gap (40mm)
Insulation (60mm) @ 0.020 W/mK
Block CME (100mm) @ 0.51 W/mK
Plaster (12..5mm) @ 0.51 W/mK
The value that appears in the Wall Properties Dialogue box (greyed out - so I assume it is a calculated value) is 0.1935 W/m2K
Our BRE calculation generates a figure of 0.268 W/m2K.
The insulation manufacturer claims around 0.25 W/m2K for the given wall build up.
how we could have such a discrepency ? All the conductivity values are correct for the materials used in the wall build up.
I am beginning to wonder whethe the value in the Wall Type isn't a U-Value, although the units are consistent with it (W/m2K)
Is there a simple way to change a wall type without deleting the wall and redrawing it in the new style?any time i change the wall type it changes all walls?
