I can place a solar panel on the surface of the roof (flush with roof surface), but cannot tilt it up. No matter what I try, an error message comes up saying "can't rotate element into this position".Have tried creating new panel, renaming it, etc. The panel seems to have a constraint of some sort that I cannot override.
View 9 RepliesI can place a solar panel on the roof, but cannot do anything with it. When I try to tilt it from upright, it turns yellow and says "cannot rotate" . Been stuck on this problem for a week now, and am quite frustrated as you can imagine. Have tried every trick that I and others have suggested to no effect. Seems to be constrained to one of my vertical reference lines. Reference line is listed as the "host", but it's greyed out, so I can't change it. Tried to disassociate from reference line, but can't.
Went in to "family" and noticed that there's and extrusion underneath the panel (invisible when placing the panel). Don't know what it's there for, or if this has anything to do with it. I can't delete or modify it.
I've also tried to create my own solar panel, but can't figure out how to save it as "my own" family.
I simply want to tilt the panel back about 35 degrees. I've tried to tilt it in all different views. Sometimes I can get it to tilt along the wrong axis, never on the one I want it to. Is there any way I can create my own panel with a sketch program, import it into Revit, and save it as a component?
Does Revit Architecture/M&E/Structures 2013 have a standard solar panel family?

About a week ago my text suddenly defaults to vertical eveytime I start to enter text.. just aggrivating, I have to start typing text, then go up and click on the change text orientation button each time. I can't figure out how to change the orientation back to a default of horzontal.

For what its worth, Wiki help shows the "Rotate View" command in the video..... maybe I don't have the full version...IDK. Looks like I am missing several commands here, like Apply Design View.

I have achieved this using a vertical wall reveal with a profile to suit the shape of the inset. This works very well until I place a door in the centre of the wall where the reveal has reduced its width, the reveal disappearing and the door appearing in a full width wall.
Does this mean that a reveal cannot be used in this way and that I should find another way of modelling the reduced width wall? See drawings below:
My problem is trying to move the project model to a new elevation some 1000+ feet higher than the 0'0" schematic design elevation. When using the "shared" solution, it will work for the model but not for the Topo as the topo is also tied to the Project base point, so when one uses shared it also moves the topo map 1000+ feet higher. I'm trying to find a way where the project elevation can be adjusted to the base point elevation so both topo and model elevations coordinate with each other. It's a 4 level project with many exterior retaining wall levels. I'm almost to the point of doing a full copy of the project to the clipboard and then importing it at the level 1000+ feet higher.

I tried using two 'half joints', but as soon as I align them I lose the option to snap to the side of the reveal in the center of the joint. The attached image shows both attempts.
