Sep 4, 2013I've watched the 2013 new features videos, and I can't select an individual rail in a railing by selecting the railing and then tabbing to select the rail.

Revit :: 2013 - Top Rail And Hand Rail Not Visible
Jun 13, 2012We have a project that has been upgraded to Revit 2013. When creating railings using the new railing types, top rails and hand rails disappear/are not visible seemingly at random. For instance, when a railing is created that contains railing profiles in the non-continous rails dialog box in addition to a top rail, the top rail and extensions are not visible in plan, but the rails created in the old non-continous dialog are visible.
This seems to occur only in our upgraded file. New projects seem to display the top rails and hand rails consistently.
Also, with railings that contain a "Wall" type extension, the extension return occurs at a 90 degree angle even if it is set to have a fillet. Further, in some instances, regardless of whether the rail is flat or sloped, the end wall extension return will display as two separate rectangles overlapping (i.e. it looks "broken"), instead of a clean, continuous railing. This seems related to the "direction" that the rail sketch line is drawn (a line drawn from the bottom of the screen to the top will have a broken railing, one drawn from the top of the screen to the bottom will not).
I know that scolding the Autodesk software developers isn't going to change anything, but I feel the need to blow off a little steam. The railing and stair "improvements" for this release are really not worth much. It's still much more time consuming (and frustrating) to model these elements, and with poorer results graphically, than it is to simply draw them. It's still not possible to dimension them properly, place balusters where you want them, make multi-level stair towers join properly, get the up/down arrows to display correctly, and a host of other issues. It's incredibly frustrating and baffling that there are so many issues with such a core component of the software's functionality.

, also there is mentioned, that "...pre-prepared turnout types that are written in the XML file ara_switch.xml"
I can't find that ara_switch.xml file.
Revit :: Modeling Rail Track
Nov 23, 2011We are currently looking at how to model rail track in Revit to avoid a Bentley solution (Microstation / MX). A piece of track curves left and right in plan and up and down in section whilst at the same time twisting. We can ignore that it is track, effectively all want to do is extrude a shape along a 2 axis curve whilst twisting the shape.
It is possible to use a swept blend to create a twist along one curve in either axis, but not both axes as far as I have worked out. To make this more difficult the swept blend will also only let you sweep along one curve at a time, so if it was snaking in plan on a flat surface each curve would need to be set up and sweep over and over which is not really a suitable solution.
3ds Max :: Cannot Select Individual Polys / Edges
May 25, 2012I sometimes press random buttons on my keyboard accidentally, so i think this might be a cause of that. I cannot individually select polies or edges (verts work fine) clicking on them does nothing and the only way to select them is box selection.

Illustrator :: How To Select Individual Anchor Points
Oct 25, 2013The direct selection and lasso tools keep selecting entire paths. I thought these tools were for selecting individual or small groups of anchor points so that they can be edited. I am using Illustrator CS6, and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if my program is being buggy.

Jul 14, 2013In PS CS 6 it used to be possible to draw a shape, like a rectangle, and then use the direct selection tool to select and move one corne of the rectangle. However, in PS CC this does not work anymore. When I try to use the direct selection tool, all anchor points remain selected and so I can't move a single point, just all of them at once. What might I be doing wrong? Did something change in the CC version?!

Aug 27, 2012 how to select items on the canvas, aside for selecting each individual layer on the layers panel. have Mac os X 10.7.4, and I previously had cs5.5 on my laptop.
I was able to use the direct select tool to select mulitple items by either dragging it would select anything in the box or using shift to select multiple items. Do I have to click on every item in the layer panel to select it on the canvas? Is there a option that I have checked when it should be unchecked?

Why is it that when I change one floor's surface (tile,carpet, ect.) and then make a seperate floor on the same floor but with a different surface, it changes BOTH floors like they are instances of each other?
How can I add a surface to individual floors on the same level? Ex. Carpet in living room, Tile in Bathroom.

Nov 22, 2011I need to show an individual stud kicker down a corridor. The kicker needs to kick at a 45 degree angle from the front of a soffit to the wall. The width of the soffit is variable. The kicker length needs to chang and get longer along a 45 dgree angle.
I want to be able to 1) set the soffit width or 2) set the soffit width with a type parameter.
I have a reference locked to the back side of the kicker. Attached a parameter dimension
When you grip that reference line to the back it will extend the kicker along the plane the way I want. However, when I go to insert the kicker, and I change the dimension in the properties window, nothing happens. It just is inserted in the size I created.
That's ok. So I was going to create 1'-0" increment sized kickers. Assigning a soffit depth for each one. However than it gives me a constraint error.
3ds Max Modeling :: Can't See Edges When Select Object 2014
Sep 25, 2013I know about F3 and F4, but usually when i used maya and 3ds max 2014, i could see edges when i select an object....now i cant. When i go into edge mode, i cant even see edges at all unless i blindly select them. This image i show has a box of 2 segments and i selected the middle edges....can only see what i selected in red.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Cannot Edit Project Properties 2014 On W8
Nov 18, 2013I am running Architecture 2014 (PrDS-U) on a Windows8 Pro N.
In Architecture I am a frequent user of the Project Navigator.
After moving to W8, I find that I can not edit Project properties, neither from Project Browser nor the Navigator.
The project resides on my local C:VCC and the folder is being shared on my network. It is not write protected. Everyone has full access.
Others who are connected to the share can edit the project, they are running Windows 7. I cannot.

Jun 21, 2013I have just loaded Revit 2014, and then loaded a project file created in Revit 2013. When I try to render a view in the cloud I get an error message that says "The file could not be translated.-1" I have tried this with several projects and get the same error for all.
However if i create a new project in 2014 the render works fine, it only seams to be a problem when I upgrade a project from revit 2012 or 2013.
