So, just installed the Suite Ultimate version and couldn't find anywhere in Civil 3D 2014 some icon/window to use both... Help file and 'What's New' doesn't even mention the new features.

Is it possible to define custom Rail Types in Rail Track Layout Utility for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013?
There is only combobox with predefined Rail types 49, 54, 60.
I found: "The rail type defines the standard turnout types (e.g. 49, 54, 60 etc.)or other user defined types "
, also there is mentioned, that "...pre-prepared turnout types that are written in the XML file ara_switch.xml"
I can't find that ara_switch.xml file.
where is the Bridge Modeler for revit and civil3d ?ı look the "labs" links... ı only find empty website page (link deleted or updated)how ,can we get bridge modeler version 2012 or 2013 ? (when , where....?? ) ı have building design suite 2013 premium but there is no bridge modeler..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed Civil 3D 2013 "Gobal - Bridge Modeler "from the Productivity Tools page in subscription centre.
Add-in appeared to installed sucessfully and tab added to Civil 3D ribbon but features do not work. Selecting a bridge type I am given following error message, "Your Evaluation Period has Expired on ...2010".
Software was only purchased relatively recently therefore this should not be the case.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe recently learned that the AutoCAD Civil 3D R2014 Bridge Module has a license check that results in the utility no longer working after July 1, 2013. This appears to be an installation artifact from when this was an Autodesk Labs project.
A replacement version is available for Infrastructure Design Suite – Premium/Ultimate subscribers on subscription center. Note that you’ll need to uninstall the original version before installing the updated build. There are no changes to the core utility itself - just the license date verification.
stability issues with the Geotech module in 2014?
Seems it takes forever to respond to changing styles/views/visual styles etc and Civil 3D goes into the classic dimmed screen and "Not Responding" mode.

I've watched the 2013 new features videos, and I can't select an individual rail in a railing by selecting the railing and then tabbing to select the rail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe installation of IDSP has been an adventure. After a few rough starts Autodesk support team got us through the installation of 2 computers. Now I am attempting to install IDSP on my computer and have run into a number of errors that between this forum and Autodesk support I have worked through.
I start the install once again and looked like everything was installing ok.
That is until I get an message "Allied product is not found" and the install fails and removes all installations up to this point. The failure happened while installing the Civil 3D Language Pack.
Install log states:

We have a project that has been upgraded to Revit 2013. When creating railings using the new railing types, top rails and hand rails disappear/are not visible seemingly at random. For instance, when a railing is created that contains railing profiles in the non-continous rails dialog box in addition to a top rail, the top rail and extensions are not visible in plan, but the rails created in the old non-continous dialog are visible.
This seems to occur only in our upgraded file. New projects seem to display the top rails and hand rails consistently.
Also, with railings that contain a "Wall" type extension, the extension return occurs at a 90 degree angle even if it is set to have a fillet. Further, in some instances, regardless of whether the rail is flat or sloped, the end wall extension return will display as two separate rectangles overlapping (i.e. it looks "broken"), instead of a clean, continuous railing. This seems related to the "direction" that the rail sketch line is drawn (a line drawn from the bottom of the screen to the top will have a broken railing, one drawn from the top of the screen to the bottom will not).
I know that scolding the Autodesk software developers isn't going to change anything, but I feel the need to blow off a little steam. The railing and stair "improvements" for this release are really not worth much. It's still much more time consuming (and frustrating) to model these elements, and with poorer results graphically, than it is to simply draw them. It's still not possible to dimension them properly, place balusters where you want them, make multi-level stair towers join properly, get the up/down arrows to display correctly, and a host of other issues. It's incredibly frustrating and baffling that there are so many issues with such a core component of the software's functionality.
I am using civil 3d 2012 and i want to use rail assembly for my single track rail project. i want to know how can i customize my assembly. As in given defaulf assembly i can keep the width of sub base same on both side of track centerline. But my requirement is to use different widths on left and right side of centerline of track.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI work in Rail Development and I am trying to create an assembly that will automatically generate a rail/tie shape and label Top of Rail Elevations, Track name and number, and offset distance. I have been copying/pasting a block onto each track in every cross section. This takes way too long! I have attached an image of what I want the assembly to look like in the cross section.
Before now, I have been typing in all of that information, when there are 9 tracks and 77 cross sections.
I am trying to see if there is a way of distributing equally spaced lines along a curved guideline. Now there is a function to make text follow a guideline and curve in all different angles. What I want to do is the same thing but with strait lines. Is there a way to do it?
Let’s say I am doing a little model railroading and want to draw out my topographic layout first. Now think of a set of winding scale model rail road tracks with wooden rail cross tracks between the metal rail tracks. Now if my actual scale is 1 in = 10 ft and each cross track needs to be exactly 4 ft apart and the winding track has several twist and turns over a 200 in range. Because each twist and turn is made to both accomplish the turning of the track as well as to avoid obstacles, using the radius tool may not always be the best bet. In an ideal world the best way would be to take a strait track and distribute the cross tracks at 4 ft increments and then try to bend the track. However this would cause other problems and throw off the scale. The best way would be to align the perpendicular lines to the curvature of the track. Now if the track had several "S" turns, odd angled curves, or complex reverse turns, it would take forever to space the tracks evenly and cross tracks at equal distances all along the track even when using the radius tool or building in sections and then merging lines.
If there was a way to evenly space lines along a curved guide then I would not need to spend hours setting up radius and drawing lines that need to be deleted or cut short. Equal spaced lines can be accomplished along a straight line using the Align/Distribute function. Though this still has problems when distributing along angles let alone along a curve.
I am trying to somewhat avoid the radius function and lean more towards shaping a compound image set between two parallel lines and one or more perpendicular lines.
Where the "Layout constraint" options have gone in Inventor 2014?
Last seen in Inventor 2013 on the right-click menu of a part created through the "Make components" workflow, this invaluable tool has been abducted.

When i try to insert a scale bar or a north arrow or any other carthographic element i simply can't find the layout elements that are supposed to be in layout tools tab. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using AutoCAD 2014 for a couple of weeks now and there seems to be a problem when switching from the model tab to the layouts.
This is the problem i have: I draft my plans in model space as usual, once i finish that, i want to go to the layout tab
where the titleblock is and modify its attributes. When switching, AutoCAD crashes, it allows me to save a recovery file but it closes the program completley.
I have submited the error report to AutoDesk but i have not seen any other comments about it.
I am having a terrible time getting the thread modeler to work correctly for an M16x 1.5 thread. I have tried multiple approaches to get the correct thread dimensions output.These are the steps I take:
1) Create hole (I've used both major and minor thread diameters,16mm and 14.376mm)
2) Apply Inventor threads (M16 x 1.5)
3) Select threads from tree using the Add-in thread modeler "Controller"
4) Analyze dimensions finding both cases yield the wrong dimensions.
This add-in would be very useful and a great time saver if it would work correctly.
I thought I created a rail sub assembly.
So I created the rail sub assembly everything looks great in sub assembly composer.
Start a new dwg data reference in the rail alignment, Note the rail alignment type is set to rail.
Create an assembly and under the Construction tab for the assembly the Assembly Type is set to Railway. Attach my custom sub assembly to this assembly.
Created a corridor and I get this error: Something wrong with current subassembly: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.
So I delete my sub assembly attach the Civil 3D Rail Single sub assembly. Re run corridor and everything works fine.
So I promote the alignment change type to centerline. Delete the Rail Single sub assembly put my rail sub assembly back. Rerun the corridor and everything works.
So then I undo everything up to the point of promoting the alignment.
Opened the base file changed the alignment type to centerline.
When I tried to synchronize the references I ended up a broken reference with the following error. Invalid reference. Synchronization failed
Not good we already have plan sheets cut.
where in sub assembly composer were do I define the sub assembly to be for Rail?
Just upgraded to CS5.1 I see contact sheet II has changed and is handled by Bridge / Output module.I don't like that you can't print directly from Bridge, but have to save as a pdf, then reopen the doc and print from Reader or PS.I can only hope that changes.
I created a custom layout in Bridge, 3.9 inch x3.9 inch at 300ppi. 3 across and 3 down. Made the contact sheet, saved as pdf. Opened in CS5.1Here's the problem. The document which is suposed to be 3.9.x3.9 (square) is actually 3.092 inch x 2.318 inch (not square!).
The reason for the problem is that I drag and drop the contact sheet onto another document template (it has logo, name, etc.) to print. The other document is 4.5" x 4.5" So the contact pdf doesn't fit the template. (This used to work great in CS3 as you didn't have to save the contact sheet as it was created. It was a layered doc which you could drag onto another doc / template.) I can't see any reason the contact sheet would not be the same as created in Bridge / output mod. when opened up in CS5

I found some pages that have a grid of photos. Is there any way to start from scratch or edit a multi photo page? I'd like the text elements as well. In the Print module (LR4.3) under Layout, the unit intervals for margins and cell size seem to be arbitrary. For example, I can get margins of 0.93 or 1.03 inches left and right and 0.94 or 1.06 inches top and bottom, but not 1.00 inch all around. Similarly I can get a cell size of 4.02 x 6.04 inches or 3.93 x 5.95 inches, but not 4.00 x 6.00 inches. why Lightroom offers such seemingly arbtrary measurement intervals or what controls the intervals?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have just recently install Building Design Suite Standard 2014 and the tool palettes DO NOT work.
Clicking on the standard palettes that load with ACAD will not even work. We have also tried to make new ones and the will not MAKE (for lack of words).
Here is the Autocad warning it gives us:
Unable to execute the tool. Possible causes are:
-The tool is not registered properly. Please check your installation.
-the tool is from another application and is incompatible with the current application.
We are running a new copy and it IS registered.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using C3D 2014. I created a pipe network, exported it to Hydraflow Storm Sewer, perfermed an analysis, and have HGL/flow data. When trying to import the .STM file, nothing happens. Here's what it does:
1) Import .STM into a Blank/New Drawing -> Creates a pipe network with correct IE, Size, and HGL/Flow Data
2) Import .STM into design drawing -> Choose to Update Network -> No change in network (IE, HGL, etc.)
3) Import .STM into design drawing -> Choose to Create a New Network -> Does not create a new network
I've tried closing C3D, and checking, still no change.
