My move tool does not work other than selecting the entire page. It does not let me to select anything inside the page or drag and select anything inside the page.
View 1 RepliesWithin my image I am using the Pen tool to select an area that I want to copy. When I define the area with anchor points, close it then select Make Selection, New Selection, it puts the marching ants around not only the area I selected but also the entire image (see below).
This suddenly started happening.
everytime i use the selection tool it selects the entire canvas and not the image i want. why is doing this? how can i prevent this?

View 2 Replies View Relatedthere's an invisible 10px border around each object/shape. it's so frustrating when i'm working on small icons or whatnot.i'll try and give an example the best i can... say i have two squares overlapping and are offset from each other by a 5px or so. if i want to select the back square, i'd normally... click on the part of the square i can see. in cs6, if i just click on the visible part of said square, it would select the front square. i have to click at least 10px out from the back square to select it.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Photoshop CC in Windows8 64x as trial and find a curious bug with the Move Tool:Usually I select multiple layers creating a selection with the Move Tool on them, but in this new CC version the tool is selecting hidden layers too. More details: the hidden layer are inside a folder. The folder is hidden, but the inside layers are not.
This type of selection has always worked perfectly in previously versions, and of course, I leave the option "Auto Select> Layer" enabled.
Is there a move tool that doesn't select? Pressing the space bar to lock the selected only works half the time and I inadvertantly select and move the wrong object/subobject.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi switched from CS5 to CS6 Extended (Win 7 64bit) and I'm a little bit confused about the select/move tool (V). I have "automatic selection" activated and when I click on a layer, Photoshop often selects a nearby layer but not the one I'm clicking at - often the layer selected is more on top of the layer I was planning to select, but that was no problem in CS5 ... Is there anything I can change in the settings or is this behavior "normal"?
For example - a cursor placed at the marked position selected the white arrow-vector-shape.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo a friend created a model using zbrush and exported several different *.OBJ files. I imported those to maya and added shaders. They all fit correctly together when imported.
some of those obj files required me to do a mesh->combine. so now it appears that not every item has the same reference point so that when I move or scale the entire item, some of the objects move seperately. I think it is only the ones I had to combine.
I tried freeze transformations, but when doing that, some of the objects lost their scale settings and still didnt move together as one unit.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but suddenly my Type Tool can not select type by double clicking or click and drag any more.
I'm using Illustrator CS4 (14.0.0) on a MacPro with OSX 10.6.8.
I know how to convert a page at a time to blue, but need to be able to do entire documents. Is it possible?

When I tried to move the files, the individual files, not the folders, were moved to one folder on the hard drive. Is there a way to move the entire set of folders?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two documents, both with 300 DPI. The first is a 4x5 image and the second is an 11x17 page. I am trying to drag the entire 4x5 image (it's composed of several layers) onto the 11x17 page and keep it the same size. However, when I drag and drop, the 4x5 image is enlarged to fill the full width of the 11x17 page. This happens even if I hit shift. I recently upgraded from PSE10 where I did this regularly and can't figure out how to do it in PSE12. I have an iMac with OS 10.8.5.

It almost looks as though the whole page as been highlighted. This only happens when it's opened as a PDF and not in Illustrator.

Also, if I have layers inside a folder and try to move one of those layers, the entire folder is selected and all layers within that folder move.
I have not grouped any layers together.

Recently I renamed a folder that contained a Maya project. Here's a simple file structure to show what I mean:
I renamed this:
OLDname > mayaProject > scenes > Project01.ma
…to this:
NEWname > mayaProject > scenes > Project01.ma
The mayaProject (and all it's subfolders: scenes, assets, etc.) was created in Maya, and the OLDname folder was where I kept it and the other files related to the project.
After renaming that folder, when I double clicked the Project01.ma file to launch Maya, I received this error:

When I relaunched Maya by its icon and used the File > Open Scene… option, I received this error:
// Error: Wrong number of arguments on call to performFileAction does not match number of parameters in procedure definition.
In both cases, Maya opened a blank Untitled file, instead of my Project01.ma file. When I changed the name of that folder back to OLDname, the Project01.ma file opened properly.
My question is, how can I rename or move this folder and still preserve the file hierarchy that Maya needs to open the Project01.ma file?
Drawing started in LDD a few years ago. It was on a local coordinate system of 1000,1000.
The drawing has since been migrated to C3D2012. Now we have data in UTM coordinates that we need to match to the old data. Actually, we want to shift/rotate the entire original set of data to match the new UTM data, so we can continue in UTM for all future data collection.
So, I went through and turned all layers on, Thawed them and unlocked them. I made sure all points were visable, etc. Then I tried to move the original data (I also tried the align command, etc., with the same results) and found a glitch. After I moved the data, I found that there was some points and survey figures as well as a cooridore, that had not moved. The vast majority of the drawing had moved as expected, but the afore mentioned data would not move.
Is there any free macro or any script in this forum to convert all the outlines (in a document or page) to objects .
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to consolidate all of my image files onto one hard drive by copying them from multiple drives to one large new one. The desired result is that I would have my library on that new drive, with all the links making sense to LR, but leaving the original files on those original drives as an archival back up. I know how to MOVE the files within LR, but I can't figure out how to COPY them. If the image files were not already in the catalog, I would just import them using "copy and add to catalog." Worst case, I suppose I could move all of the files to the new drive and then export copies to the old drives, but that seems very time consuming. I have more than 3TB of files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using the trial version of CS5 (probably going to upgrade at the end of the trial), and I've only found one thing about it that I don't like more than CS3. This is VERY VERY annoying, and I'm not sure if it's a glitch, or just a preference that needs to be reset:
When using the move tool, I will move something and it will just snap back to where it originally was. When it snaps back, it might move a few pixels over in the direction I was dragging, but it is definitely not moving to where I want it to go. The only way to get things to move the way I want to is by Free Transform...but it's annoying, when you're trying to design a layout, to have to free transform every element you want to move, first.
I'm guessing that this is a glitch because sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't...it's pretty random. I've tried turning Snap on and off, and nothing changes.
I have been creating an image in PS CS with the pen. Now I have added a new part to the picture by making a new path, selecting it and transforming it into a parth of the layer that allready existed. The strangest thing happens:
I can't select the original pic I created, it only selects the whole image. I can select the parts that I just added to the pic but I can't fill it with colour?
I have an image open and try to use the liquify tool in filters.It opens and then after attempting to use the tool, It freezes completely. Cant even get out of it or close it at all.

i know hiding the element would allow me to select other elements. But I need to see other elements when working on the image.
When I create a text layer, the whole image turns black. If I enter the text blindly, I will see the expected results when I finish and click on another tool. If I try to edit the text layer, everything turns black again.
I am not using the type mask tool. I can select and move the layer and I can blend the layer; I just can't see what I am typing. Using Windows 8
