3ds Max :: Move Without Selecting Tool?
Sep 14, 2011Is there a move tool that doesn't select? Pressing the space bar to lock the selected only works half the time and I inadvertantly select and move the wrong object/subobject.

Photoshop :: Move Tool Is Very Inaccurate When Selecting Object
May 15, 2013there's an invisible 10px border around each object/shape. it's so frustrating when i'm working on small icons or whatnot.i'll try and give an example the best i can... say i have two squares overlapping and are offset from each other by a 5px or so. if i want to select the back square, i'd normally... click on the part of the square i can see. in cs6, if i just click on the visible part of said square, it would select the front square. i have to click at least 10px out from the back square to select it.

Jun 19, 2013I'm using the Photoshop CC in Windows8 64x as trial and find a curious bug with the Move Tool:Usually I select multiple layers creating a selection with the Move Tool on them, but in this new CC version the tool is selecting hidden layers too. More details: the hidden layer are inside a folder. The folder is hidden, but the inside layers are not.
This type of selection has always worked perfectly in previously versions, and of course, I leave the option "Auto Select> Layer" enabled.

Aug 23, 2012i switched from CS5 to CS6 Extended (Win 7 64bit) and I'm a little bit confused about the select/move tool (V). I have "automatic selection" activated and when I click on a layer, Photoshop often selects a nearby layer but not the one I'm clicking at - often the layer selected is more on top of the layer I was planning to select, but that was no problem in CS5 ... Is there anything I can change in the settings or is this behavior "normal"?
For example - a cursor placed at the marked position selected the white arrow-vector-shape.
Photoshop :: Can't Move Just The Layer I'm Trying To Move With Move Tool
Dec 1, 2006I try to select and move a layer using the Move Tool, another layer is immediately selected and moved instead.
Also, if I have layers inside a folder and try to move one of those layers, the entire folder is selected and all layers within that folder move.
I have not grouped any layers together.
I'm using Mac OS 10.4.8 with PS 9.0.1
Photoshop :: Move Tool Does Not Move Layer When Dragging With Wacom Tablet
Jan 14, 2013I am using the trial version of CS5 (probably going to upgrade at the end of the trial), and I've only found one thing about it that I don't like more than CS3. This is VERY VERY annoying, and I'm not sure if it's a glitch, or just a preference that needs to be reset:
When using the move tool, I will move something and it will just snap back to where it originally was. When it snaps back, it might move a few pixels over in the direction I was dragging, but it is definitely not moving to where I want it to go. The only way to get things to move the way I want to is by Free Transform...but it's annoying, when you're trying to design a layout, to have to free transform every element you want to move, first.
I'm guessing that this is a glitch because sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't...it's pretty random. I've tried turning Snap on and off, and nothing changes.

Maya :: 2014 Move Is Selecting Other Objects Instead Of Moving?
Jul 8, 2013We are just trying out Maya 2014 and seem to have found a little problem that we cannot seem to work around!
If we say have two object and we select one of them, if we then try to move that object along one axis, it moves a very small amount and then selects the other object, but neither move any more, if we unselect the second object and then try to move it again the same thing happens.
We are using a Wacom Tablet as the main pointing device and all three butttons are set right, and we have also tried a mouse and this does the same. We do have a 3Dconnexion Space Pilot Pro also connected but this has been disconnected to see if this caused the issue somehow but without it connected the issues is still aparent.
Works fine on 2013 no issues at all, but the problem just seems to effect the move tool in Maya 2014.
I have checked that soft selection is disabled and it is? maybe I have inadvertedly hit a shortcut sequence to switch something on or off, but cannot find anything else amiss.

Jun 30, 2012I`m having trouble selecting the correct constraints which will allow the pin to move up and down with in the guided slots.
Another issue i cannot seem to get perfect is the ends of the guide slots.I used fillet (fillet 2) but i do not think the pin will hot the top as there is a slope.Could the coil sketch be causing this problem.

Jul 31, 2013When I have a none vector tool active for example the brush tool and I press and hold the Ctrl key down I see the cursor change from the current tool to the move tool cursor. If I presses and hold the Alt key I see the cursor change from the current tool to the eyedropper tool. If I press and hold both the Ctrl+Alt keys a see a cursor icon change to an icon that has two up pointing Arrow heads one Black the other White. What tool is that cursor for? It seems to copy and move the current layer and move its position over the canvas.

Apr 9, 2009I started learning Photoshop CS4 about a month ago. One of the first things I learned was to add text. Simple, fun. I am now trying to learn about layer masks. One of the exercises in one of my books is to open an image and then add text to it. (The idea is to then add a mask and 'hide' portions of the text behind portions of the image.) A really strange thing is happening when I try to add text. I highlight the image in the layers column. (Prior to adding any mask layers.) I then click the text tool. But when I click on the image (in the area where I want the text), the text tool 'becomes' a move tool. A text layer pops up and the words I'm trying to type on the image come out in the title area for the layer (in the layers column). I've tried everything I can think of to 'get' the text on the image but can't solve it.

Aug 9, 2012Within my image I am using the Pen tool to select an area that I want to copy. When I define the area with anchor points, close it then select Make Selection, New Selection, it puts the marching ants around not only the area I selected but also the entire image (see below).

Apr 5, 2012When using the patch tool, I make the selection, pick my area for it to patch from and it patches just fine. BUT, the area I selected to be patched is still staying selected with marching ants around it and I have to CTRL-D to deselect before I can patch another area.
Thought it de-selected on old machine and it's driving me crazy trying to retouch some jobs where the patch tool gets a real workout...Am running CS5 (12.1x64) on a new Windows 7 64 bit machine, using a Wacon Intous 4 w/latest drivers.

Oct 10, 2012I do not want to use the the Pen Tool to make selections of Vectors! I want to know if it possible to use the Pen Tool to select say the eyes or the arm or the chair or the apple, etc! Then convert that vector pen tool selection into a Raster selection?
Photoshop and Gimp do this! I would love this feature in PaintShop Pro X5, but since that out maybe the next version X6!
Photoshop :: Brush Tool Disappears When Selecting Brushes?
Mar 13, 2013I'm 10 days from purchasing a version of CS6 after using CS2 for 7 years. I'm wondering if I have a defective program because the tool icon disappears when I switch tools and then reach for a new brush size. I have to click on my desktop to have the tool appear on my monitor. Also, is there a way of getting rid of the huge sample idicator that appears when you sample a color?

Mar 14, 2012I'm using PhotoShop from CS3 and have had a persistent problem with the polygonal lasso tool. Sometimes when I use it, the tool will only give me a few seconds in between mouse clicks to continue selecting. If I don't keep selecting new points (ie, if I leave the cursor hanging on the drawing with the selection still open), the lasso tool will automatically close itself. when I'm trying to do detailed selection work because it doesn't give me time to find the right point to select to before closing the selection over an area that ends up being useless to me.

Jun 20, 2012If I have a number of shapes on top of each other, with, for example, a drop shadow on the top shape, whenever I try and select the shape below it (it is peeking out from beneath the top shape, so I click on this 'peeking' section of the shape to try and select it) I cannot - it just selects the top shape as the top shape's drop shadow is 'blocking' the shape below it. Make sense?
How do I go about about remedying this? I seem to recall being able to tell Illustrator to ignore 'effects' when making selections in CS4, but cannot work out how to do this in CS5. And is there a way to refine the 'sensitivity' or selection radius when clicking to make selections?

Aug 30, 2012I have Adobe Photoshop CS6 (part of Master Collection English-Arabic Enabled) installed on MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Mountain LionI went to Preferences -> Type -> chose Middle East , to enable arabic typing but whenever I choose the Text tool, photoshop freezes, and cpu use reaches 130% ( on Activity Monitor it showed that photoshop using 60% of cpu while "fontd" is up to 70%)I don't know why font daemon is consuming that much of cpu, probably facing problems with building fonts models, I left it for half an hour, but no use.
the corresponding windows version, did not freeze, instead just went alittle quirky heavy for half a minute then back to normal and i was able to use text tool and type in arabic normally
Photoshop :: Selecting Vector Shapes Points With Direct Selection Tool?
Jun 24, 2013When I try to select points in my vector shape (this one is selected), and I have other vector shape behind that one, I start dragging with Direct Selection Tool in order to select those two points, I got selected three points, two from first vector shape, and one more form shape that was behind and in the area where I was dragging selection. Also, now both vector shape become selected. Why is this happening if only one vector shape was selected?
I'm using Photoshop CC.
