In cs5 i could stroke the path based on the brush size/shape when i choose "brush" and simulate pressure to get those nice faded out lines.
In cs6 I do the same thing but the stroke size never changes to the brush size even when i make sure "brush" is selected.
Second question... I want to add some lights with Knoll Light Factory; is there a way to preview the lens flare on top of all the current layers to see what it will look like? Sometimes i'm trying to position it on top of a very specific area. I know I can change the background layer to the specific place, but getting a full preview would be great.
"open the brushes palette and select a 7px, hard edged brush. Adjust the Spacing to 356% and ensure nothing is selected and the new layer is targeted. Now click the Stroke Path Icon (which one's that?). By default, your foreground color will be used to create a dotted stroke."
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm using a tablet. I want to make my brush stoke very very short. Previously, I would do this by setting the fade to a very small number. I think I used to set it to airbrush but possibly it worked in brush as well. (I cant even figure out how to select an airbrush now) How do I do this in 6?

it would be easier to just make a keyboard short cut but im not sure how to assign shortcuts to right click commands.
I am making a 15x22" print of a map of Baltimore and am not sure what pt size to maket the lines separating the neighborhoods. I want to be sure the lines are visible from far away, and, since this is my first time printing something this size.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then, my stroke loses the ability to do digit reduction. For instance, when I try to create a 1.5 point stroke, it rounds up the line to an even "2".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've read several things in this forum but nothing convenient. In the past I though I was possible to change the stroke thickness with no document open and that worked for all the new documents yet to come. Well, it doesn't. The default stroke size is 1pt and I want it to change to f.e. 0,25pt. But how?
View 16 Replies View Relatedwhat I did to lock the stroke size to 1 pt for the rectangle tool. It won't go lower than that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyway, I would like to use the Basic brush at half a pixel stroke and less like 0.25
However, when I type in 0.5 and then go to use the brush it just turns back to 1px
So, should I assume I cannot make a stroke smaller than 1px?
I have been a Photoshop hobbyist. Now I own a printing business. This has forced me into the world of Illustrator for our printing and cutting machines. Although I am very comfortable with PS, Illustrator. One of the key things is making "Cut lines" in Illustrator to send to the cutting program. Now here is my dillema, all of my images I have made are in Photoshop. To make these cut lines I have to stroke the image. When I bring a picture into Illustrator I can not get it to stroke that picture. It just strokes the box around it, or unless I draw a circle or shape around it and stroke that shape. Please refer to the picture I have attached. The first one is a decal that we initially made. The second is the image that I want to stroke for cut lines do I can just have that as a decal without the white circle.

I want the eyeball elipse to disappear as it goes into the eyelid stroke.
I have tried numerous times to make my paper size and actual plot size the same. My paper size is 24 x 36 but for some reason it rotates the paper and the output is 36 x 36, every time! When I look at it on the preview, it looks correct but then the paper comes out with a foot of paper at the top of the drawing. I've created new page sizes, etc.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn Illustrator I want to maintain the stroke settings while creating several paths with the pen tool. However, every time I start a new path, the stroke settings revert to what must be a default. E.g. I set 16pt + Variable width profile + Basic and stroke a path. When I start a new path, the settings revert to 1pt + Uniform + Basic, and I have to reset back to my original. Other art programs I've used maintain the tool settings most recently used until they are manually changed. How can I get the settings to stay through multiple uses of the pen tool?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI think I remember this is possible in Illustrator, that you can make strokes that are for maps, like railroad tracks and the like. I need to make a 'zipper' and even the most simple line with cross perpendicular lines at regular spaces would do the trick for me. It's rather tedious to try to make these on a random direction path, but I need to know, is it possible to make a stroke that does this?

I want to show only parts of this image at a time, so that the viewer sees it in increments. However, I want to make the edges look more organic, like brush strokes, so that it looks almost as though the painting is being completed and the viewer gets to see the process.
p.s. I'm in CS2, unfortunately, so the bristle brush isn't an options
Why is the first dash shorter than the rest?
When I preserve the dash like this The first dash doesn't start at the beginning of the path...
So I looked up how to reverse the path and found this [URL] but my object options don't have the "reverse path" option
EDIT: I just realized that changing the direction of the path wouldn't work because it would mess up when it's too close to another path (although I still would like to know how to flip the direction regardless).
I need the frame of the image below as a stroke style (or at least I prefer that above having to copy-paste the elements of the sides 100 times along a frame in my design )
The thing is: it contains gradients. How do I get the frame to a stroke style so I can easily use it in Illustrator?
The brush preview size does not match brush stroke. I've insert a pic of the problem. I tried allmost everythning, but nothing works.
I use a wacom tablet.
Is there a way to make a custom vector brush smoothly meet at beginning and ending of the stroke, such as with a circle? I'm trying to create smooth circles with a brush and Wacom. I want a brush rather than a mathmatically perfect circle with a perfect stroke weight-thickness, but I don't like how the two beginning and ending join up. i like the slight variations of human imperfections one gets when using a vector brush, but there must be a way to make the joing points look more smooth, rather than an after-thought prgramming fault, right? Is it possible?
The image below shows my attempts to make as smooth a joint as possible, but it still looks too much like it wasn't meant-to-be.
I'm using Ai CS4, Mac OS10.8.4
I'm not sure what I did to make this happen or how to change it back, but for some reason when I change the size of an object/line it changes the stroke weight as well. (For example, if I drew an ellipse with stroke weight 2 pt, and then increased the size the stroke weight would be 2.856 pt or some such number instead of 2 pt.) How to change this back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile, while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
when you're deciding what size to make each photo, there starts to be a point where there is a noticeable lost of visual quality. what feature in any program (doesn't have to be adobe) can automatically enlarge the size up to a point where the visual quality is still good?
doing it manually for each photos is too inefficient.
I am trying to make a perfect circle that is the size of a CD.
I have made guides that are 5" x 5" wide (a little wider than an actual CD) and 5"x5" tall. When I try to create a circle shape or marquis inside of my lines, I can't. I have to make an oval in order to meet my guides.
I thought it was an issue with my units in my rulers. No dice. I tried creating a marquis fixed at 5"x5". No dice. Still an oval. Shouldn't 5"x5" be a perfect circle? A circle with a circumference of 5" would be the same all the way around, right? Or do I need to go back to geometry class?
Basically I have about 15 layers of images that I have to resize so they are all the same dimentions, without loosing quality, but if there are no options, I'm willing to losse quality.

I have lots of images within folders within my pictures, my ask is this how do i make all the pictures within the folder the same size, is there a one click solution or is it a case of doing each image as i use it for manipulation? Most of the images are2387x1929 pixels.
