Photoshop :: Make The Brush Stroke Short

Jan 24, 2013

Im using a tablet. I want to make my brush stoke very very short. Previously, I would do this by setting the fade to a very small number. I think I used to set it to airbrush but possibly it worked in brush as well. (I cant even figure out how to select an airbrush now) How do I do this in 6?

Photoshop :: Short Brush Stroke Lag CS6 In Dual Monitor Setup?

Apr 4, 2013

When I use a brush or any of the clonehealing tools the brush start lagging when I do you short and quick strokes.

Longer and continuous strokes don't have any lagging going on.

I have reinstalled the driver and tried a few different versions as well but the issue persists. I also tried different settings for the Graphics Processor in preferences but no change.

I am on an Intuos5 L and before that I had the Intuos 3 A4 and I had the problems with that tablet as well.

 I am on i5 iMac Quad-Core 2.5ghz, 32gb ram Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB - Mac OS X 10.7.5

Update:After a few testing I realized this lagging appears to happen only when I am on Dual monitor setup.

My main monitor is an Eizo CG222W I have Photoshop setup whereby all my tools and panels are on my iMac and the main window with the image is on my Eizo. When I only use my Eizo with tools and panels then the lagging disappears.

Illustrator :: How To Make Stroke Of A Brush 0.5px

However, when I type in 0.5 and then go to use the brush it just turns back to 1px

So, should I assume I cannot make a stroke smaller than 1px?

Illustrator :: Make Custom Vector Brush Smoothly Meet At Beginning And Ending Of Stroke?

Sep 14, 2013

Is there a way to make a custom vector brush smoothly meet at beginning and ending of the stroke, such as with a circle?  I'm trying to create smooth circles with a brush and Wacom.  I want a brush rather than a mathmatically perfect circle with a perfect stroke weight-thickness, but I don't like how the two beginning and ending join up.  i like the slight variations of human imperfections one gets when using a vector brush, but there must be a way to make the joing points look more smooth, rather than an after-thought prgramming fault, right?  Is it possible?

The image below shows my attempts to make as smooth a joint as possible, but it still looks too much like it wasn't meant-to-be.

I'm using Ai CS4, Mac OS10.8.4

Photoshop :: Short Delay With Brush And Rubber Tool On Windows 7 (CS5 / CS6 And CC)

Nov 5, 2013

I have a problem with PhotoShop CC. I also tested PhotoShop CS5 and PhotoShop CS6, having the same problems (last versions of them). Plugins for PhotoShop are not installed.

My System:

Windows 7 64 Bit with SP1   (newest updates german version)
Intel Core i7-4770k CPU 3.5 Ghz
RAM:   16 GB DDR3
GPU: GeForce  GTX 760 2048 MB  MSI N760 TF 2GD5/OC
MainBoard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming

Monitor: Asus PB248Q    1920 x 1200   60 Hz   (connected with Display Port)

All Drivers (GPU, ChipSet of MainBoard)  are up to date.

My Problem is that the Brush or rubber tool is 0,5 to 1 seconds slower than the mouse cursor. The stroke trails behind. But the brush tool still runs smooth and fluently. Its just slower than the mouse. When mouse stops moving, the brush catch up. The brush even trails behind when cursor is moving slow. When cursor is moving faster, sbrush also moves faster, but brush is never as fast as cursor. Only when cursor does not move, brush catch up.

This even happens when simple brushes for example simple round brush with 100 hardness and 10 pixel of size are used. When removing Smooting in brush settings, brush tool become much faster, but not as fast as cursor. This behaviour occurs in 64 and 32 Bit Version of PhotoShop. Also, GPU Settings was changed (Basic, Normal, Advanced), but without results.

When Aero-Surface in windows 7 is disabled, brush tool works much faster, but not smooth and fluently anymore. This also happens when I am working with a document containing only one single layer.I also tested all GPU Settings in PhotoShop (Basic, Normal and Advance), still the same problem.

PhotoShop uses 60% of my Ram (8793 MB)

The strange thing is: When I installed PHotoShop CS5 on my 8 years old computer with Windows XP, Brush tool with same settings was as fast as mouse cursor and it runs really smooth and fluently. The main difference is that my new Computer is using Windows 7, the old one uses Windows XP 32 Bit.

Old System:

Windows XP 32 Bit
AMd Athlon X2   3700+
2 GB RAM
GeForce 7800 GTX   (connected with DVI to monitor)

Can it be that PhotoShop has problems with Aero Surface of Windows 7? Or with Windows 7 64 Bit?

VideoStudio :: X4 - Make Some Short Slideshows To Be Embedded In Websites?

Jun 4, 2012

I'm using VSP X4 to make some short slideshows to be embedded in websites. I have been successful in creating them and converting into a WMV movie for broadband, 320 x 240 for fast loading on the website page.

All works well in terms of the slideshow presenting on the site page, but no matter how I size the container, or change the object code when converting, the slideshow always has a black bar at the top and the bottom of the slideshow. I've changed aspect ratios with no success in removing these black bars. I use CSS to create the container for the slideshow, and the container is coded for a white background, yet, the slideshow continues to have these black bars at the top and bottom. how I can remove these, assuming it's VSP4 that's creating them?

Photoshop :: Stroke Shape With Brush

Jul 13, 2012

One can stroke a Path with the Brush Tool, Pencil Tool, Burn Tool, etc., which affects pixels of a targeted pixel Layer.

Shapes can have solid colour strokes, gradient strokes and pattern strokes which are part of the Shape definition.

Am I alone in thinking that it would be useful for Shapes to be able to have their stroke defined as a Brush (and possibly other tools) which doesn't change the pixels of another Layer, and instead remains an editable property of the Shape's appearance?

Photoshop :: Stroke Path With Brush...

Oct 17, 2007

I created a brush and I have created a path. What I want to happen is for the brush to follow the path and keep the angle of the path. What I mean is the brush should stay perpendicular to the path. So that on angles...the brush takes that angle. Does that make sense? Let me explain exactly what I have done. I created a brush that is just a rectangle that is about 1px wide and about 7px tall. I have created a path around some text. I want the brush to follow the path around so that it looks like stitching. But what is happening is on the vertical sides..the brush is staying vertical.

Photoshop :: Intermittent Brush Stroke In CS4

Mar 24, 2009

In Photoshop CS4 the paint deposited by a brushstroke by a Wacom Intuos3 pen tool intermittently and unpredictably just stops mid-stroke after some while of a continuos stroke. This is a real problem when making simulated watercolor washes because these require a continuos application of paint using a brush with Wet Edges. When the paint just stops and the pen tool is removed from contact and then re-contacted, the paint starts again but now the new brushstroke sits on top of the old stroke and does not merge into it (as you want with a watercolor wash).

No brush controls are set to Fade and in any case the ink-stopping happens well into the continuos stroke - much later than a Fade control would affect it.

I'd be grateful for advice on how to stop this happening, please. Why is the paint flow just stopping? Is this a known problem with CS4?

CS4 is fine in other respects.

System:

Intuos 3 with Grip Pen and latest driver; Vista Ultimate 64 bit; Photshop CS4 64 bit; Q9550 cpu; 8 Gb ram; x2 WD velociraptor hdds; ATI Gigabyte 4850 graphics card with 1 Gb ram and 9.3 driver; Asus Xonar D2X sound card.

Photoshop :: Brush Stroke Lag After Panning

Apr 3, 2008

Lag occurs primarily on selections and brush strokes after using the pan tool, but these lags were only present when Vista's Aero theme was DISABLED and vista was running the basic theme (something you would otherwise think improved performance) this is however not the case for Photoshop.

Our dilemma is though that we cannot run 3dsmax in Aero mode and as such this fix is essentially useless :(.

Other sources on the web have indicated these problems as being nvidia driver related (my problems occured running a 8800gtx), this is so far unconfirmed by me although i will be testing a highend ati card shortly.

Photoshop :: Rotate Single Brush Stroke

Feb 8, 2013

I have created a brush that is meant to mimic stitching and i would like to be able to rotate one "stitch" or stroke at a time... ( i pasteurized the shape)

I have used Ctrl + Click on the Shapes Thumbnail to make a Selection and then went to Select > Modify > Contract and then I went to the Paths palette and from the drop down/fly out menu i chose Make Work Path and then. I Right Clicked on the Work Paths Thumbnail and chose: Stroke Path > Brush (chose my custom brush)

I manipulated the Path as much as possible to create the curves as needed but. I still need to modify the stitches . If i recall correctly i think i read somewhere that i can use a Marquee tool select individual brush strokes (that are a part of the same path) to rotate and/or relocate/move in general, however, i cannot seem to get it to work for me ... so, i am thinking i've forgotten a step or that i may be totally wrong.

Can i rotate a single brush stroke? is there a way to "ungroup" like in Illustrator or some other sort of Ps creature.

Above is an example of what i'm trying to explain ... all the dashes are on one path but i would like to be able to rotate just one at a time (like in the red circle). is this at all possible? i've tried to paint em all manually but it just doesn't end up looking nice at all.

Photoshop :: Brush Opacity Overlap In Same Stroke?

Mar 7, 2012

I just got an Intuos5 and I'm not very experienced with the Photoshop settings regarding tablet usage. I want to replicate the effect of drawing on paper with a marker, without lifting my pen. If you go back and forth over the same spot 15 times on a piece of paper with a marker without (lifting the marker), that spot will be much darker than if you make one stroke. I understand that in Photoshop I can lift my pen off the tablet and do the same stroke 15 times, but logistically, that just doesn't work with the way I draw.

Basically, I'm wondering if there's a way to make it so opacity is purely dependent on how many times a certain spot is covered WITHOUT LIFTING MY PEN.I know there are controls to switch brush opacity to coincide with pen pressure, but I don't want to destroy my new tablet by carving into it to have a pure black stroke.

To demonstrate what I mean by this, here's an extremely crude example in which the left represents how photoshop works for me now, versus how I'd like it to work. Notice how going over the same spot within the same stroke, those intersections are darkened.

Photoshop :: Stroke Path Brush Size

Aug 27, 2012

got a problem that I can't figure out...

In cs5 i could stroke the path based on the brush size/shape when i choose "brush" and simulate pressure to get those nice faded out lines.

In cs6 I do the same thing but the stroke size never changes to the brush size even when i make sure "brush" is selected.

Second question... I want to add some lights with Knoll Light Factory; is there a way to preview the lens flare on top of all the current layers to see what it will look like? Sometimes i'm trying to position it on top of a very specific area. I know I can change the background layer to the specific place, but getting a full preview would be great.

Photoshop :: CC Brush Flickering To Arrow After Each Stroke?

Jul 11, 2013

PS CC Brush flickering to arrow after each stroke. My problem is on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.

As a computer tech, I have tried the tricks I know, and thought I would get on here and see if/what I am missing.

Im running Photoshop CC 64bit on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, updated using 3 monitors between the nvida and on-board intel graphics. I have also Checked that PS is updated as well.Im on a Intel I3 Sandy with an nvida GTX 550 Ti 9.18.13.2049 (6-21-2013) with 8gigs of ram

I am also using a bamboo Capture (It's all I can afford right now) with the latest drivers (5.3.2.1).I have unplugged the capture and was able to reproduce the problem just using the mouse.

I testing and reproduced the problem on PSD's large and small and jpg's as well.I have also disabled and enabled several options in the tablet and windows tablet settings.

I have reproduced the problem using all 3 monitors in full screen and windowed mode.I have been able to reproduce the problem in most of the settings with in PS CC.

A more detail of the problem is:99% of the time, at the end of a stroke (Pen or mouse) make the windows arrow pointer appear instead of the brush. So, Lets say I make several one direction strokes. If the mouse (Pen) keeps moving after the stroke, the windows arrow cursor will blink on screen. If you to the same thing and end the pen/mouse motion with the stroke the arrow cursor icon will appear and stay there until you move the cursor again.

Photoshop :: How To Create A Brush Stroke With Point On Both Ends

how to create a brush stroke with a point on both ends? It's fairy easy to create a stroke with a point on the front end using the Shape Dynamics, but how do I create a point on the tail end as well? I have a Wacom pen and even the sensitivity function on it can't get a point on both ends no matter how sensitive I draw a quick stroke.

The stroke on the right is the typical brush stroke I get when playing with the "shape dynamics" to get a point on my stroke.  The stroke on the left is one I rendered to display how I'd like my strokes to look.

Photoshop :: Quickest Way To Paint Straight Brush Stroke

Nov 20, 2013

I do perspective drawing for interior designers and do the coloring in Photoshop. Think of old fashioned painting with a brush/copic marker against a ruler to get a straight line, but with varying thickness or opacity. I would like the same effect in Photoshop.

The closest that I have come is to press Shift before the brush stroke. That constrains the stroke, makes a very neat line AND allows me to vary the line/brush thickness as I paint.

Often the lines may need to be at an arbitrary angle which is NOT 90 or 180 degrees. The only way I know of for getting that brush stroke in the correct position is to make sure that each stroke is on a separate layer. Select the stroke/transform/rotate. Quite a few steps as opposed to the one it takes to draw the line in the correct position and angle with a brush/ copic marker on paper.

This becomes time consuming and difficult once you have many lines to paint and if you need to be accurate (as with perspective drawing). If you are working on a very large canvas the point of rotation can sometimes be very far from where you are working (i.e. on a vanishing point) and difficult to see without a lot of Zooming and moving around on the canvas.

To Stroke a path with the brush gives an unrealistic and even line thickness which does not look hand painted. Using a ruler while drawing on a Cintiq? That may give the desired effect and be much quicker than selecting and rotating.
