Photoshop :: Short Delay With Brush And Rubber Tool On Windows 7 (CS5 / CS6 And CC)
Nov 5, 2013
I have a problem with PhotoShop CC. I also tested PhotoShop CS5 and PhotoShop CS6, having the same problems (last versions of them). Plugins for PhotoShop are not installed.
Â
My System:
Â
Windows 7 64 Bit with SP1Â Â (newest updates german version)
Intel Core i7-4770k CPU 3.5 Ghz
RAM:Â Â 16 GB DDR3
GPU: GeForce GTX 760 2048 MB MSI N760 TF 2GD5/OC
MainBoard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
Â
Monitor: Asus PB248Q   1920 x 1200  60 Hz  (connected with Display Port)
Â
All Drivers (GPU, ChipSet of MainBoard)Â are up to date.
Â
My Problem is that the Brush or rubber tool is 0,5 to 1 seconds slower than the mouse cursor. The stroke trails behind. But the brush tool still runs smooth and fluently. Its just slower than the mouse. When mouse stops moving, the brush catch up. The brush even trails behind when cursor is moving slow. When cursor is moving faster, sbrush also moves faster, but brush is never as fast as cursor. Only when cursor does not move, brush catch up.
Â
This even happens when simple brushes for example simple round brush with 100 hardness and 10 pixel of size are used. When removing Smooting in brush settings, brush tool become much faster, but not as fast as cursor. This behaviour occurs in 64 and 32 Bit Version of PhotoShop. Also, GPU Settings was changed (Basic, Normal, Advanced), but without results.Â
Â
When Aero-Surface in windows 7 is disabled, brush tool works much faster, but not smooth and fluently anymore. This also happens when I am working with a document containing only one single layer.I also tested all GPU Settings in PhotoShop (Basic, Normal and Advance), still the same problem.
Â
PhotoShop uses 60% of my Ram (8793 MB)
Â
The strange thing is: When I installed PHotoShop CS5 on my 8 years old computer with Windows XP, Brush tool with same settings was as fast as mouse cursor and it runs really smooth and fluently. The main difference is that my new Computer is using Windows 7, the old one uses Windows XP 32 Bit.
Â
Old System:
Â
Windows XP 32 Bit
AMd Athlon X2Â Â 3700+
2 GB RAM
GeForce 7800 GTXÂ Â (connected with DVI to monitor)
Â
Can it be that PhotoShop has problems with Aero Surface of Windows 7? Or with Windows 7 64 Bit?Â
I own a copy of Photoshop CS6.Switching from Photoshop CS to CS6, I have found this version to be extremely slow and I can not find a reason why it is like this. It is impossible for me to work on it. Â Problem: Slow performance, when using the brush tool there is a long delay - lag. The brush takes more than 8 seconds to catch up with my strokes.
Tried: - Memory usage allowed upgraded to 6GB, nothing changed. - Default selected "Scratch Disk" is the main SSD which has over 58GB of free space, I've tried selecting the secondary HDD as well but nothing changes. - Disabled the "Use Graphic Processor" square. nothing changed. - Disabled the "Use open CL" square in advanced Graphic Processor Settings. Nothing changed. - Changed power management settings in windows to "High Performance". nothing changed. - Disabling tablet pc service doesn't work.  Notes: - Graphic drivers are the latest release on AMD website - Windows is completely updated - SSD Firmware is the latest available. - The issue happens both with mouse and tablet. - 1px brush and 5000px brush lag just alike in zoomed and not zoomed canvas. - This happens on both x64 and x86 versions of the software.
I have another paint app where it will do a brush mode that is a rubber-band mode. So if there is a brush that's 25 pixels wide and you go and click once somewhere and then move the cursor... a straight line rubberband appears connected to your cursor. When you click again, the brush is painted in a straight line to where you clicked. It's great when you are trying to quickly paint a straight line to match something in the image. Does PS have a brush mode like this? (I know that drawing paths can be stroked in straight lines, etc. but I need a brush mode that is quickly switchable to as I am speed painting thousands of images and brushing is fastest for this work).
Am I the only one having trouble with the brush tool using a touchscreen running Windows 8? The touch feature doesn't work at all, and the mouse is intermittent, at best.
Im using a tablet. I want to make my brush stoke very very short. Previously, I would do this by setting the fade to a very small number. I think I used to set it to airbrush but possibly it worked in brush as well. (I cant even figure out how to select an airbrush now) How do I do this in 6?
When I use a brush or any of the clonehealing tools the brush start lagging when I do you short and quick strokes.   Longer and continuous strokes don't have any lagging going on.  I have reinstalled the driver and tried a few different versions as well but the issue persists. I also tried different settings for the Graphics Processor in preferences but no change.   I am on an Intuos5 L and before that I had the Intuos 3 A4 and I had the problems with that tablet as well.   I am on i5 iMac Quad-Core 2.5ghz, 32gb ram Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB - Mac OS X 10.7.5   Update:After a few testing I realized this lagging appears to happen only when I am on Dual monitor setup.   My main monitor is an Eizo CG222W I have Photoshop setup whereby all my tools and panels are on my iMac and the main window with the image is on my Eizo. When I only use my Eizo with tools and panels then the lagging disappears.
I have been using Photoshop ver 5.0 for a couple of years, off and on, and never had a problem with the Rubber stamp tool until recently. It always worked. I just selected it, then the pen size, then held the alt key down to select some color pixels, then clicked where I wanted to paint.
It doesn't work anymore. As soon as I hold the alt key down and try to select a pixel, up pops a dialogue box saying, "Must define a pattern" ??? I have searched through the help index, tried various things, but cannot find the solution.
I've got a problem using the rubber stamp tool. I want to use it to clone some dust spots out on several photos which are part of a time-lapse scene. Therefore I thought it would be easy to record using the rubber stamp tool, then applying the action to all photos via a batch process.Â
However, it doesn't seem to work. All my other steps in the action occur, but not the rubber stamp tool. Same is true for the healing brush.Â
I have installed CS4 on my desktop and my laptop. On the desktop version, the Clone tool looks and behaves exactly as it should and I have no problem with it.
However, on my laptop, the tool looks like a rubber stamp (the same icon as is in the palette) and does not work properly. Changing the brush size does no good because it's not a brush, just a rubber stamp (yes, I have chosen Clone, not Pattern).
the only thing I can think of is lack of horsepower in the laptop (for instance, only 512Mb of RAM)
I bought a new iMAC, a 21.5", 2.7 GHz one with 12 GBytes RAM. My intuos 4, when using Photoshop CS6, works on and off. I mean, when I am painting with the finger tool for instance, and more often than not, I try to make the strokes but the damn finger brush cursor won't move on the screen until a couple of seconds had passed.
In other words, there's a very annoying delay between the physical stroke on the tablet and the brush moving on the screen, it's not simultaneous as it ought to be. And I have installed the latest driver of Wacom for this model!!! This never happened before with the older iMAC, 2.4 GHz and 4 GBytes RAM. I mean, it should work even better.
The brush tool loses the outline of the tool as the diameter gets larger. e.g. at 175px there is a fill outline of the tool. At 200px only a semi-circle is shown.
So everything is fine until I use the select tool, and then free transform a part of the image. Then my brush and eraser stop working until I save and restart the program.
I'm having a problem with the Blob Brush tool where I can't change the basic brush to something else. Whenever I pick a brush I want and I try draw with the Blob Brush tool, the brush I picked reverts back to the basic brush. Here are screenshots: Â I pick a brush that I like first
But when I start drawing with the Blob Brush tool, it reverts back to the basic brush automatically
Am I doing something wrong or is the Blob Brush tool only capable of using the basic brush?
I have the Adobe Creative Suite 3 and I use Photoshop to create comics and complete drawings. Lately, I have been having a serious trouble with brush lag. The more I draw and color, the farther behind the brush gets from the curser. It doesn't matter what input device I use (Intuos 3 pen or USB mouse), I still have the same issue. I don't really know how to fix it. I know it is not my computer's performance; I have Windows 64 bit, a Sandy Bridge i7, 16 gigs of ram, and a Radeon HD6850. Â I've tried:Restarting my computer before opening Photoshop - Didn't workChecking for Adobe updates - Didn't workUpdating my graphics drivers - Didn't workÂ
I just got a new Wacom Cintiq Companion Windows 8 version.  I normally work in Mac, so I've never encountered this.  [URL]  This ONLY happens in photoshop (even CS6), NO other software (Sketchbook pro, painter, art rage, etc)  I tested my Cintiq out in a field, away from phone away from anything that could wirelessly interfere, STILL this happens.  I've tried everything, reinstalling wacom drivers, reinstalling photoshop CC, installing older wacom drivers. Disabled all custom brushes in photoshop, enabled brush smoothing, Disabling Windows ink, enabling recognition mode. Enablign / disabling / dialing down mouse acceleration and disabling / enabling "enhance pointer precision" Disabling / enabling GPU photoshop acceleration, updated Intel graphics 4000 drivers. No one else seems to have this problem.    The stranger thing is, I tried on OTHER windows 8 / 7 machines with a regular wacom Intuos tablet and i see this SAME issue. Â
I have a couple questions regarding adjustment brushes in LR 3.6 .  1. I recently found out there should be Iris Enhance, Skin Soften, etc. brushes in the presets. I can't find them under the adjustment brush. I've tried going to Edit->Preferences->Presets->Restore Local Adjustment Presets as several others have suggested but it doesn't appear to do anything.I have found these files where I've read they're supposed to be (../AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Local Adjustment Presets) but I can't find them in LR unless they're somewhere other than the Adjustment Brush panel.  2. Also, 'O' turns the mask overlay on and off as it should. I have 'on' set to red but for some reason 'off' is set to blue and I have to desaturated it everytime I turn off the overlay mask. How do I change the "off" state to be no color?
Photoshop Elements. Increasing brush-size crashes Windows 8 when HDMI cable connected to TV or data projector. I'm using Asus N56V notebook with Nvidia 635M dedicated graphics card with latest driver.
anyone know a good place to go for a rubber stamp tutorial or have any experience creating one themselves? im looking for something in the vein of 'conspiracy' or 'confidential' like the red rubber stamp you see on paper work that gets 'denied' or a paper that 'failed' in the movies. something you might see on a manila folder that says 'confidential' or 'conpsiracy'.
What is the best way to create an "inked rubber stamp" look?
I realized that you turn it into a bitmapped tif and colorize it in a layout program. I am mainly interested in ways to "weather" or "stress" bitmapped logos, etc. Is there a filter or is it done by manually?
I recently moved up from Photoshop Elements to CS5 which included a Selection Brush Tool in addition to the Quick Selection Brush. The Selection Brush Tool allows you to paint a selection free style without being bothered by the "Quick" feature that provides guesses about where you might want to select. I could not find the Selection Brush Tool in CS5. Is there one? The lasso is not as easy to use.
Can I use the paint brush twice on the same area without having different scales of the same color? I would like to keep the paint brush smooth but the problem is that when the same area is painted twice, the color in such area darkens. Â Is it possible to lock the paint brush to one stroke of paint? If an area is painted, is it possible to automatically skip that area when painting? In other words, is it possible to have the brush effect only once over a given particular area even if it is brushed over twice?
I am trying out CS6 on a Mac. There is no brush tool in my menu, only pencil tool and art history brush! I would like to try out the brushes in particular before I buy. I thought that one has access to all the features during the trial?
