Photoshop :: Expanding The Current Document To Full...
Feb 8, 2009
when I expand the document window in the client area of the user interface, the window expands completely to cover the whole screen, including the surrounding panels, menus, etc. The only thing shown is the full document window. I'm not sure if this is something that can be configured in the preferences or not. I've tried all the interface settings and nothing works.
Photoshop 13.1.1 x64. Mac Pro 3.33 6-core running OSX 10.6.8, 48Gb RAM. Working on a large-ish .PSD file (650 Mb) and saving to a network drive (a Drobo connected to a server) which is our usual routine and has been for years.
Problem – When I save the document and close it, the saved file (in the correct target location) shows the correct modified time and date stamp but if you open that file up again a lot of work is missing. In this instance, about the last half hours work (since the previous time I saved it). However, if you then go to File > Open Recent and choose the file name, the document opens with all the missing up-to-date work in it.
Clearly, File > Open Recent is opening a temporary document somewhere and not the saved file in the target location.
My concern is why isn't the saved file (with correct modified time and date) up-to-date? Suddenly we are having to double check every PS file we work on and save and that is not practical.
I create a graphic that has the dimensions of a standard piece of paper (8.5in X 11in) and then i savedit on a disc for my friend and he goes to office max to print it out and it comes out with a border... Is there a way to get rid of the border or can printers just not print full page.
I tried creating a custom workspace and was able to do so (without any modifications) but when I was in that workspace, and loaded an old menu, it wiped out all the default workspaces. where / how these default workspaces are stored, or how to upload all my old menu stuff without going through a tedious cui mod?
In PS CS4 Mac, I used to be able to print the full document info that appears in the title bar, including the currently selected layer/group. This would print at the top of my document and might look like:
File Name.psd 100% (layer name, RGB/8)
I always thought this was a function of selecting "Label" in the Output window of the print dialogue box. However, it does not seem to be working anymore, and now it simply prints the file name, like this:
File Name.psd
How can I turn this feature back on so that I get the entire document window? Or another method to accomplish something similar? I am printing individual layers from a single document and having them automatically "labeled" is useful.
I was under the impression that when hovering my mouse over the document title bar, I would see a tooltip showing the full file name, including the path. This isn't happening and I'm wondering if there is a way to do this. I know I can click File > Save As, or Ctrl+Shift-S to see the full path, but hovering over the title bar would be easier. (What I am seeing now in the tool tip is the file name, % magnification and which layer I have selected. Basically, the tool tip is just showing what's in the title bar without hovering.)
I'd like to create a script that checks the current document's color profile and checks it against a string, for example "sRGB IEC61966-2.1". My studio has a script that performs various functions to make sure that all the layers are visible/unlocked, checks for stray points, etc., and we'd like to add a check to the color profile because we handle a large number of files and this setting is overlooked a lot.
It's alright if this value isn't writable through script (we can just pop up an alert letting the user know that they need to change it), but I can't find where to actually read this setting! We're currently working on Macs and with JavaScript, but any nudge in the right direction.
I am having an issue with saving our own dwg file in inventor 2014 & 2014.
When I open a new one of our dwg template files and try to say I get an error that says
"the current operation requires data from document 'xxx' but it cannot be found"
This doesnt happen when trying to save an inventor dwg template file and it has only happened since releases 2013 & 2014. If I open one of our files that was created before release 2013 I can save these with no problem.
I was hoping the issue would resolve itself when upgrading to 2014, but It hasnt, so it must be in a setting that I migrated across.
We have other users using 2013 and are not experiencing the same problem. In fact if they save one of our template files on their machine I am then able to open and save it on my machine!
I have a document which is sized for full bleed printing. I would also like to make PDF prints of this document, but if I simply print, then everything will be off by a little. Is there a non-destructive way to 'crop' the document back to the paper size?
I need publishing a PDF from a Word document full of diagrams created with Adobe Illustrator CS6. My diagrams are all vector. I am free to export them anyway I like. My Word doc has many cross-references, footnotes and Endnote references and a large table of contents. It is a few hundred pages long, with around 50 diagrams. I would like to preserve the original quality of the vector art and the intra-document clickable links.
Each step in the process has multiple possible paths, and each path often many options. There are 3 steps:
1) Export from Illustrator to: .ai, .pdf, .eps, .wmf, .emf optional 1b) Convert (eg. use Acrobat to convert .ai to .doc, .eps or .ps)
2) Import to Word: drap and drop, file cut and paste, insert picture, insert object, insert object linked to file, PDF Reflow (Word 2013). I tried them all.
3) Publish to PDF from Word. Many different paths... - Print to PDF: I have AdobePDF, PDFCreator, NovaPDF printers installed - Save as... : Save as->AdobePDF or Save as->PDF or XPS - Plugin toolbars: Acrobat->CreatePDF, NovaPDF->Save as PDF, PDF Architect->Convert or - Save as .doc and convert with Adobe Acrobat.
I have tried many different permutations. There are 4 possible errors: E1 - The diagrams are converted into bitmaps. E2 - The diagrams are 'linearised' - curves are converted into chains of linear sections E3 - The diagrams are corrupted - text missing, characters changed, dotted lines become solid lines etc. E4 - Hyperlinks are lost.
Here are some results of my tests. I see no difference so far between Word 2007 and Word 2013. Results below stand for both. There is no difference between Word->Acrobat->CreatePDF and Acrobat->Convert Word to PDF.Illustrator -> AI -> Acrobat -> Word almost works, but diagrams are corrupted in various ways (eg. dashed lines become solid). When export from Illustrator as EPS level 2, EPS level 3, EMF, WMF and PDF and get different results depending on the path to PDF:
No links preserved: Word->Print to AdobePDF: Good: eps2, eps3, emf Bad: PDF (E1), wmf (E2) Word->Print to PDFArchitect: Good: eps2, eps3, emf Bad: PDF (E1), wmf (E2) Word->Print to PDFCreator: Good: eps2, eps3, emf Bad: PDF (E1), wmf (E2) Word->Print to NovaPDF: Good: - Bad: eps2 (E2), eps3 (E2/E3), emf (E3), PDF (E1), wmf (E2) Word->Toolbar->PDFArchitect: Simply prints with current postscript printer. One of above.
So, only the "Word->Print to PDF" pathways provide good quality vector diagrams, but none of these preserve intra-document links.
I have: - Adobe Creative Cloud CS6 (Illustrator, Acrobat etc. all latest versions) - Word 2007 (latest version (SP3 12.0.6683.5002)) - Word 2013 (Office 365 latest version) - Access to a Mac with Word 2011.
I was wondering if there was an option to set Inventor to display the full file path for the current file open ? At present I am only seeing a short description of the name of the active file - I wish to see it's full file path similar to what AutoCAD displays.
Cad Manager/Senior Designer Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 SP2 64-Bit Edition Windows 7 HP Z400, Intel Xeon W3550 3.07GHz 12.0GB RAM, ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL)
I can't figure out how to adjust the size of the program screen when in Full Edit Mode. I can see portions of the Quick Fix menu and none of the Guided Fix menu. There seems to be no way to resize the window.
Is there a macro/script/deisel that will automatically print a pdf (cute pdf autocad lt 2007) to current plot settings in current drawing directory and give it the current drawing view name and number? Disk space not a problem these days and would save time to have a pdf copy of all drawing tabs readily stored in the directory ready for issue.
Technique that can check the current plotter name for the current tab and assign it to a variable? i.e. can it be assigned to a variable to check if if equals "myplotter1". The next step - is there a technique to change the plotter name to "myplotter2.pc3".
I have partially done the latter part of this in the past using the -plot command line to ASSIGN a new plotter but I would really like to only run the routine if it really needs to.
I have 1 Next button that is used on the timeline. Each position has a pause then a play so there is only 1 button. I need to get the label info so I know where I am so I can save the location of the timeline that the user was at if they exited before they finished the process.
The problem I'm having is when I use either the square selection tool or when I Control+Click on a layer and expand the selection (square or rectangle) the corners get cut at a 45 degree. I'm using PS7 and it is also doing it on CS2 also. A Graphic Artist friend of mine tried it on his computer (CS2) and it does the same thing. I thought for sure I've done this before without the cut corners.
I scanned an image (settings: B/W adaptive, 600 dpi ) and came up with a .tiff file of 1474 kb. When opened with Photoshop CS3, and saved, the file size jumps to 38 mb.
How can I edit the file and keep the file size from changing?
Windows Xp Scanner: Contex HD3630, Using WIDEimage scanning software CS3
I am snapping from Nikon Coolpix L1 camera into 6.2 MPixel mode. When It comes to photoshop, I can see that the normal document size is, Width : 9.387 in and Height : 7.04 in (I am giving this reference from menu Image->Image Size).
Now, I am reducing this document into a size of W=5.347" x H=4.01" size for printing. Taking four nos. of similar documents and trying to paste all four documents into a single sheet of size 12"x8". This is because that the printing cost of a 12"x8" paper will be least, and that is why I am trying to compose four 5.3"x4" photographs into a single 12"x8" paper.
But the problem is that, when I am trying to paste (using copy-paste or drag-n-drop) any of the source pictures into destination sheet, the picture in the destination sheet is expanding and filling all the space of 12"x8".
Hi im a newbie in photoshop. heres my queries. I want to make a a big circle and a smaller circle in the same point of location just like using offset path cmd in adobe illutrator using select modify contract or expand cmd.I selected a circular marquee with the size of 6cm x 6cm and filled it w/a color.while selection is active i contracted it w/ the amount of 4pix and filled it with another dif. color the result is smooth edges, but when i contracted it again by a bigger amount like 24pix it looks distorted.I think there is a technique in doing it. Can you help me guys?Just remember i want to know if contraction or expansion in ps has the same principle with the offset path cmd in ai. because the offset path cmd in ai produces smooth edges even if u enlarge it in any possible amt.
Is there anyway to do this kind of wavy undulating, expanding and imploding sort of writing in Corel? I would imagine that there must be two strategies to get it. The first would be to find a font that worked like this, but the second method would be more pertinent to CorelDraw. The second method is I'd imagine that there must be a way of writing normal text and then expanding it in certain ways, and something like Coreldraw must surely be able to do this, no?
But the problem is when writing a text box in Corel you don't get to write it as a box with edges that can be expanded at will, so I don't know how it could be done.
I made a circle. Moved it up about 300px then used the rotation tool to > move the center point to intersect with the art board's center point > alt clicked and set a 45* rotation. Then duplicated around.
I moved to AE and created a simple rotation animation. However, I need to exspand the the radius of those objects or create more space between them.
Is this possible without rebuilding it from scratch in Ai CS5? Is there a way of exspanding the radius in Ai?
I wonder of there is a way to expand objects with a filling, without creating the outside lines of the swatches you made to create an filling.
I add a printscreen... The first F is the filling, the second is an outline view of the expanded filling and the last one i wanna create. The way i create is, deleting the squares and use pathfinder but it take a lot time to do.
I am using LR 3.5 on the MAX OSX Lion. This problem has been going on for some time, so I am pretty sure it predates 3.5 and lion. If I minimize LR to the dock to do something else, then go back to the dock to expand, sometimes it doesnt expand... The only way to get it back is to click on the icon so that menu bar at the top of the screen is Lightroom's, then quit Lightroom from the menu and relaunch...
I inadvertently saved a document as a jpg and wondered if there is any way I can convert it to a document file that is handled more easily with a file that is other than a photo file?
